I've been here before, and this was my third visit. Sadly, they've completely lost the quality that initially impressed us. Never order a dosa here. The batter was thick, poured on a cold pan, and turned out very leathery. I ordered a Mysore dosa, which clearly mentions garlic chutney inside, but instead they had spread dry idli podi. When I questioned it, the staff didn't even seem aware of what their own menu described. The chutneys served on the side were disappointing too -- South Indian chutneys are known for their balanced flavors, but the coconut chutney tasted like plain ground coconut. I'm not exaggerating. Sambar was just thick dhal. The burger had way too much dripping mayonnaise. Bhel puri was the only decent item -- crunchy with good burst of flavors. This used to be my favorite place. It's a cool restaurant tucked away near Wegmans shopping center. I have enjoyed it. The seating is a bit limited but we have often picked up. The ambiance is little quirky but nice. The service is quick. The food is awesome - especially the snacking options are really good. I've ordered from here 3-4 times and it's been ok, not really impressed. Today I got the lunch non-veg thali which was suppose to have Butter Chicken. What I received was super sweet chicken dish (sweeter than Chicken Tikka Masala) with bone in chicken. I have never seen butter chicken with bone in chicken. The vibe is there, the menu itself is an adventure. I just love the hip graffiti and Indian rap music playing in the background. The menu is so diverse -- there are spins on classics such as the tikka masala dosa, tikka masala tacos, and my favorite - which is the veggie burger. The patty in this burger is like a vegetable fritter made with soft potatoes, and then theres also maggi (instant noodles) in the burger which is amazing. It comes with a ice cold coke and masala fries (also top notch). I absolutely love a set meal and this combination is so good. There are so many other snacks and delights, I highly recommend going with friends so you can try it all. One star off as the food can take a while to make (around 30 min) for a fast casual restaurant but hopefully this can improve in the future! read more

We stopped here pretty late at night, when most places around were closed. So love that it stays open till late, but there isn't enough seating inside. We were craving some Indian food, so this fit the bill perfectly for us. We ordered the Amritsari Kulcha with chooke and lassi, and chicken Kathi roll. Both the dishes tasted so good. They filled both our tummies and our soul. The lassi was sweet but not overly so, hitting the right spots. While the Amritsari kulcha and chhole were not too greasy with the right amount of spice. The Kathi roll was also tasty and light. It made for a great late night meal, and would definitely recommend anyone in the area to give it a try. read more

We were out for a cricket game and got done around 9 pm. At that hour we were just hungry and didn't wanna wait too long for our food. We also wanted comfort so that means Indian food is the best option. We found Chaat Mandi close to the stadium and it was the only one that was open at that hour. So we stopped by and found a hymuge crowd, so we knew we couldn't do sit in. So we just order to go and were helped by the amazing server with the menus. We ordered the chicken kathi roll and the amritsari kulcha with lassi. The order took about 10-15 mins to come out, but it was absolutely delicious. We took it out and ate it on the trunks of our car . I loved the amritsari kulcha the most and the lassi. It is very hard to find those in the US but these guys hit it out the park. The kathi roll we had late at night so it was a bit cold, but it still tasted nice and was the authentic think karhi roll not the crazy loaded once you get in some places. The ambience inside felt relaxed but upscale. It was at comfortable temperature with ample lighting. I do wish they increase their seating somehow since it get filled up quickly. The live kitchen gave a nice feel to the restaurant as well. This is a great spot if you are looking for North Indian chaat in the RTP area! read more

If you want to pay over $15 for a single dish you can't even cut with a fork or spoon, and then be lied to and disrespected for pointing it out, this is the place. I ordered Veg Manchurian (for one person), and the balls were so rock hard they were completely inedible. We complained, and the staff told us they'd make a fresh dish. Instead, they brought back the same plate over 15 minutes later. When we raised the issue again, the owner dismissed us, claimed he could break them with his fingers (without showing us, of course), and lied by saying no one had ever complained. A quick glance at their own Google reviews shows that's not true. To be clear: this review is not "personal taste." It's about food that could not be eaten with forks or spoons, a false promise to remake the dish, being disrespected, and then lied to when we spoke up. (Unless the response here is an apology, any attempt to argue will only confirm how poorly this business handles criticism.) Over $15 for one inedible dish, plus lies and disrespect? Located across the Wegmans in Morrisville, this establishment used to be another Indian restaurant that went by Gulli Boys. I like what they did with the decor and it does give a fresh take and is appropriate with what they're going for: street food atmosphere. We ordered the chicken kathi roll tacos and malai soya chop. I can speak on the kathi rolls, and as you can see from the picture, they're not that big or even average size honestly. The roll (aka paratha) was nice and flakey, but there was a lot to be desired. The filling was very scant and had okay flavor. Thankfully they provided chutneys on the side to dress it up, which helped out. $11 for two small kathi rolls with not much chicken and flavor just doesn't do it for me. read more

Ambience and Service: The place is clean, good, has good interior décor, but place was crowded. Not good for date nights. It was a self-service restaurant, so service can be better. If you want to get an additional pav, or something you would have to get in the queue and order it, aka it doesn't matter if you are already eating or just arrived. i mean, it's fine! stopped here after seeing a movie to get some takeout. the location is convenient, in the wegmans area. we were starved and the service was super quick, so points on that. the decor is also gorgeous, with a beautiful wall mural, although the interior is a bit cramped. we ordered the vada pao and chaat mandi's special dal with chudidar paratha. both were fine, reasonably tasty, but i wouldn't order again. not because of the quality of the food, which was perfectly fine, but because of the outrageous prices. 2 pieces of vada pao for $9 is wild, and even wilder is $17 for a tray of dal with one (1) paratha. the portion sizes were small, not mammoth by american restaurant standards, so the food didn't even last for leftovers the next day. $26 for one meal--that too street food--is way too expensive, especially since nearby places like nukkad with comparable menu items and way better food charge less for the same stuff. i'd definitely check it out again if they lowered their prices, but otherwise it's a skip. read more

All the soya chaaps are good, too. I also love their sweets especially jilebi. They have masala chai unlimited on Thu and Fri, and it is awesome to drink chai and have their food. I tried this place a couple of times. Both times to go orders. The speed of service and accuracy of orders was as expected. We ordered several dishes. Pani Puri - now this is a dish I would say is quite tough to get wrong. I found the Pani puri water both times slightly too watered down. Perhaps a miscalculation on how much ice is required to keep it cold. Also the taste misses quite a few notes on sourness and spice. The Puris are great quality though. Sou Chaap. We tried both the Haryali and Achari and both times the taste was alright but not really as good as I have had in a few other places. The few things I can think of are that the pieces are too large and do not have the right feel. Secondly, in the achari version they were a tad too heavy handed on the onions, almost ruining the entire dish in the process. Again the food was not atrocious but I have had better. read more

Alright so this is a new business and typically I would not do this without giving them another chance but I need to put this out there. The restaurant opened on 25th September so we went to check it out. The line was so long that it went out the door and all tables were taken. First thing I noticed is the place is quite small so it doesn't accommodate too many for dine in. Anyway we stood in line to order some items and as soon as we got to the register the chef or owner whispered something to the cashier. Before I could order anything she says "we have a 1 hour wait, so just want to give to a heads up before you order". We came with a toddler so that was too long for us, so we left. We attempted take out today. My husband ordered online and saw the restaurant opens at 10:30am on Saturday/Sunday. He got to the location at 11:45am and the doors were still locked. He stood outside and saw there's someone at the cashier looking right at him, but turns around and talks to people in the kitchen. Doesn't even acknowledge that he'll be right over to open the door. Anyway, he finally makes his way over to open the door but my husband is already annoyed by then. What's the point to specify timings on your site/door when you can't keep up to it. Now, given the hype about this new place we were excited to try it out but the customer service wasn't great from whatever we experienced and unfortunately the food was disappointing too. Items we ordered with review: -Vada pav: this came as 2 Vada pav with tamarind /date chutney and mint chutney. The dish was so bland and lacked flavor/salt. The mint chutney was also bland. Tamarind chutney was ok. -paneer kathi roll: did not have any chutney. It was tasteless and bland. -veg dum biryani: did not have any flavor or salt as well. I paid $90 for the entire meal and we barely got any food. I wish I remembered to take a picture to share how laughable the portion sizes were. Pick up order I placed an order at 5:30 and specified a 6:30 pickup. I get there around 6:10 and the order was ready. By the time I get home it's completely cold. This leads me to believe they did not read the pickup time and made it right when the order came in at 5:30. I ordered the bhel purri which was completely soggy and had zero taste. I also had specified no peanuts which they did not read either. For my entree I ordered pao bhaji. It tasted like oil and not fresh at all. Honestly just bad food all around. We ordered the vada pav, pani puri, and sev puri. The sev puri came so soggy that the puri did not hold together. Even eating it with spoon led to the puri entirely disintegrating. The pani puri came with six puris, which was not enough for the amount of water given. The saving grace was the vada pav, but by all other standards it was just average. The service was poor. The staff seemed genuinely disinterested. When asked questions about the menu or questions about what dishes were popular, the staff would retort with snarky remarks. As for the ambiance, it seemed like no air was running through the restaurant, as it was quite warm, but the murals and paintings on the wall were nostalgic. Additionally, the back door was wide open, letting in a flurry of flying insects. With insects on the wall and ceiling it seemed so unhygienic. read more

Wish I could give negative stars for food, ambience and service. On 14th Nov, I visited Chat Mandi for an evening chai and chat. Ordered kadak chai and ragada chat and the total was close to $20 including tax and tip. Don't mind the price if the food was worth it. The food was so bland that I had to ask for extra chutneys along with adding tons of salt and papper. Ragada patty was cold and the kadak chai was far from kadak. Despite the bad food experience I sat there eating trying to gulp down my very expensive chat not willing to complain. Then I heard some one coughing up phlegm and spitting into the sink. I couldn't believe the chef was using the kitchen sink right next to the stove top to spit, wash his face and then continued to enhance my dining experience by blowing his nose! I left the place immediately with a disgusted feeling contemplating the need to write this review for public safety. However, I know how hard it is for the business owners to establish good name and didn't want to malign the imagine by portraying this on social media. So I called up the restaurant asking for the restaurant owner. He was unavailable at the time and I left my phone number for him to call me back at his leisure. With no response until 1 pm the following day, I called back and was told that the owner is busy to take my feedback and suggested that I send an email. This indicated that they don't value a customers feedback and have way too much business to worry abt 1 complain. In short, visit for a true street style Indian food experience minus the good food at your own risk. read more

This was a great find. The menu was really diverse and there were some unique options. I got the vada pav and it was delicious. My husband got the Rajasthani Laal Maas with Paratha. The paratha was excellent and the gravy tasted great but the mutton cuts of the Laal Maas curry were too fatty. The ambience was lovely and the service was great. I'm torn on this place. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. We ordered the Lahori Tangri Kabab and Hare Masale Ka Tangri Kabab. Both are described as boneless chicken but we each got five chicken legs. The flavors were fantastic but it just wasn't what we wanted. Unfortunately we had done takeout. I thought it was expensive at $16.99 each but maybe if it was as described, I'd feel otherwise. It is very expensive and not worth spending the money for the food here ..../ the menu has different description and the food looks different in the plate when asked they say that's how it is and the burnt is stale . We had a dinner for 10 people at Chaat Mandi on a Saturday night - Divvi took great care of us. Excellent food and service. We had chaats, daba style paneer, soya kabob, papdi chaat, and excellent chole Bature. All the items were excellent and fresh - from chaats to indo chinese (e.g. Gobhi manchuri) to street style paneer. Excellent rumali roti.
