I am not the sort of person who would go to a restaurant because of a celebrity endorsement. Indeed, I doubt I've ever considered such a thing in my literally thousands of experiences dining out. But something tickled me about the fact that this place posted about William Shatner and Brent Spiner dining here, despite the fact that their promotional video ineptly fused different Star Trek eras. Having said that, I still wouldn't have eaten here if I didn't think it was going to be high quality Indian food, and it was. The suburban regions of the Triangle are one of the best areas for Indian cuisine in the U.S., but this location in downtown Raleigh is not overwhelmed with direct competition. They've decorated the heck out of this multilevel space and offer a wide variety of regional dishes. Their chai comes with unrefined sugar to sweeten to taste, which I used some but not all of. I was offered a complimentary golgappas shot which was nice, and my vegetable dumplings were mouthwatering. The star of the show though, was a classic. Channa bhatura is one of those dishes that's good even when it's not done particularly well, but when it is done well, the spices tingle and the flavors play off of each other, and the contrast between the freshly fried bread and the wetter chickpea gravy livens up every bite. I thought I might end up with leftovers, but I downed it all. I was a little bit peeved that they charged me extra to substitute rice for a bread, and overall it was an upscale price, but given the overall quality of the experience, I wouldn't hesitate to come back and order any number of exciting dishes.

Had reservations for dinner here with husband, son and girlfriend. We started with a mango chili margarita which was absolutely amazing. It seemed too sweet at first sip but then the chili kick hits you in the throat for a perfect balance. I ordered the Kashmiri Kong Paneer under Regional Favorites. I guess I didn't really know what I was ordering because it was more an appetizer than a meal but flavor was great and it was mild spice as I had requested. Husband and son got a more traditional chicken dish -- I forget the name. Husband ordered medium spicy and son hot and both were pleased with their selection. Son's girlfriend ordered a rice dish with bone in chicken pieces on it. She asked for mild spice but hers was quite spicy. We also ordered a gin drink that was fabulous. I'm not usually a gin fan but this particular drink had a unique flavor. Service was good. I would likely return here but order something different.

Budacai recently rebranded as Amrut and they still serve delicious boba tea! While attending a convention downtown we stopped here for some late night boba. The owners greeted us warmly and walked us through the new menu. We ordered several boba drinks. I chose the mango lassi with boba. It was delicious! We enjoyed sipping on our drinks as we walked back to the convention center. Looking forward to returning to try their entrees!

The staff could not have been more accommodating. Our waitress, Katie, was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the manager, Sammy, went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The chef even came over to introduce himself, which was a really nice touch. We also learned during our visit that the restaurant has recently been recognized by Michelin, very well deserved. Won't be surprised if they get their first star in the coming months. Definitely save room for the desserts, I've never tasted anything like it. A perfect place for a special night, and it'll always mean a lot to us since it's where our story started. We'll be back soon.

Imagine a spot that's equal parts Mumbai majesty and Southern comfort. You walk in, and the vibe is…read moreinstantly lively--like a Sunday supper where everyone actually likes each other, just with way better spices and a whole lot less drama. They've got these plush, deep green velvet booths that hug you sweeter than a Southern grandma, paired with large, dramatic blue dining chairs that practically scream, "Sit and Stay a While". Everywhere you look, there is gleaming copper decor catching the light, reflecting off soft, warm wood tones that keep the whole place from feeling stuffy. It's upscale, sure, but it breathes. It is bustling, animated, and humming with gossip and laughter. It's high-end, but not overly formal. Now for the bar - The Old Fashioned is absolutely gorgeous, the star of the show being the unique craft ice. That giant block of ice is taking up about 90% of real estate so they are giving you a very short pour on the liquid. It's about three sips of actual cocktail swimming around a diamond-grade ice cube. It is high-end and it tastes wonderful--just don't expect a heavy pour. A must try - The Ultimate Four-Cheese Truffle Kulcha, they threw out the rulebook for this blend. Pillowy, tandoor-baked dough with sharp, bitey white cheddar, a wonderfully funky and oozing brie, a sharp and nutty asiago, and just enough mozzarella to give you a cheese pull that stretches all the way to next week. It's laced with finely minced fresh chili and topped with blistered, smoky shishito peppers, complete with a truffle flex. Now hold onto your pearls, darlin', because their butter chicken is not that neon-orange, overly sweet butter chicken you get from the mall food court. This is the sophisticated, high-society glow-up that your tastebuds have been praying for. They start with chicken thighs that are so perfectly moist it ought to be a crime. Then the Gravy (The Showstopper): This is a velvety, luxurious makhani sauce made from deeply smoked tomatoes and red peppers. It has a sultry, back-of-the-throat woodsmoke depth that plays beautifully with the sweet acidity of the peppers. It's finished with a generous dusting of fragrant, herbaceous fenugreek leaves. Just when you think it can't get any richer, it's crowned with dehydrated butter that melts right back into the sauce as it hits your table, creating an impossibly glossy, silk-sheet texture. The food is pure luxury, but the rice portion is giving 'recession.' Don't let them starve your sauce--order extra rice right out of the gate and eat like the king or queen you are. Before you get completely drunk on truffle butter and smoky makhani sauce, you need to look at the bottom of that menu, they are slipping in a warning and I am here to make sure you don't get caught off guard when the check drops. They are feeding you like royalty, but they are also making sure their staff gets paid like royalty--automatically. Check your math before you add an extra tip, because that 20% is already locked, loaded, and heading straight for your credit card.

Every dish I've tried has been consistently good, but the mango lime chicken deserves a special shoutout! What really keeps me coming back, though, is the value. Even my mother who never had Indian was a big fan of the lunch special! Service is friendly, flavors are reliable, and the menu delivers comfort with just enough polish. Whether you're new to Indian food or already a fan, Lime & Lemon is a go-to spot that never disappoints.

I had missed this on the menu, but my dosa with spiced powder inside did not come with potatoes or anything; it still was a nice flavor but not as substantive as I was hoping for the price. Thankfully, I did get a mango lime tofu dish that was bursting with flavor and also very filling, as well as a bread on the side that underwhelmed and didn't have much of the spiced potatoes as advertised (what do you have to do to get potatoes in your food here?). Overall, a nice location, but the food was a bit mixed in quality and not quite what I'd hoped for at the price. Particularly when one considers how many Indian restaurants there are around here. I could imagine them doing better on a different order; the other Lime and Lemon I went to was quite ncie.

"Nepalese and Indian food in downtown Raleigh, near Marriott"…read more With a great location, this is VERY close to the Raleigh Convention Center. We arrived on a Thursday night at 6pm with a group of 5. The dining area didn't really accommodate a group that size, but they made it work by moving tables around, which was nice. The place was not very large, but there was maybe only one other family eating inside. The bathroom was clean. I split two dishes with my son-- salmon tikka masala and shrimp (prawn) saag, both coming with rice. We were given some papadum, I think, as a snack as we waited on the food, along with some spicy dips. Food came in maybe 10 minutes or so, which was great timing. However, I have to say, both dishes we tried were underwhelming. The shrimp was oddly translucent and not very flavorful in its dish, and the spinach in the saag wasn't especially tasty (though it did have a nice spiciness). The tikka masala sauce was great, but the salmon also was pretty underwhelming. We both said we'd probably just get chicken next time and not splurge the extra for the salmon. No dish was "bad", but just we expected them to be delicious and they were just OK. I'm just really surprised given how many people said this was the "best Indian" they'd had. The staff were friendly-- refilled drinks well and were good at answering questions. And the price was reasonable. Altogether, I'll give it 4 stars given the great location, good service, good price, but not 5 given the food was "just OK". Realistically, I probably wouldn't go back-- we have lots of great Indian in Durham and Chapel Hill, so I'd rather wait and get that.

This is a 5-star restaurant, but not in a formal, special-occasion sense. It's a more approachable kind of 5: thoughtful, well-executed, and genuinely enjoyable. The kind of place you can go for a relaxed dinner or to host friends from out of town, and still feel confident in the quality of the experience. I went with my husband and a family friend who was visiting, and it was a great setting for catching up. The ambiance strikes a nice balance between polished and comfortable. I especially liked the rich blue tones inside and the overhead lanterns, which give the space a warm, inviting feel. There's also a outdoor patio, though at 96 degrees, we opted to sit inside. I'll admit I didn't do a great job capturing photos, but everything we ordered was excellent. We started with samosas, veg pakora, and beet cutlets (which my husband hadn't had since moving to the U.S. for grad school over a decade ago). We also ordered a mango lassi, the bread basket, malai kofta, balti chicken, and lamb biryani. A few highlights: Portions are generous The spice levels are accurate "medium" and "medium hot" both had a noticeable level of heat, which isn't always the case locally The lamb biryani stood out (my husband said it's the best biriyani he's had in North Carolina) Service was also great. The owner stopped by our table multiple times and was warm and engaging. She even shared how to make a strawberry lassi with our friend, which was a thoughtful touch. One practical note: the restaurant is downtown, and there's a surface parking lot directly next to it that uses ParkMobile, which makes parking straightforward. We're already planning to return.
