I've seen and heard of Amrut, but hadn't marked it on my list or visited yet. I made a reservation for Sunday after a show at Martin Marietta. It's right by Moore Square parking deck which is convenient. We were there early so no issues with searing. They also have a nice outdoor area but it was raining outside. We were given a complimentary drink shot you put in a pastry and drink. It was a little spicy with other interesting but good flavors. We got Samosas and Chili Chicken to start. Both were excellent. The garlic cheese naan was super and cheeay. The chicken had good spice and the Samosas were fresh with mint and Tamarind chutney. We got Chicken Vindaloo extra spicey and the lamb Biryani. Both were spicy with great flavor and my Biryani had fabulous aromas. Everything was delicious and the service fantastic. Great experience. read more

We loved this place. It is less than 10 minutes walk from Raleigh Convention Center plus the restaurant is also on the resy network which makes it convenient. The food is excellent Indian food - the owner used to own Tower Indian Restaurant in Morrisville and took over this spot. Surprisingly Raleigh Convention Center is a bit underserved when it comes to good restaurants and we were glad to find it. On weekdays they have a lunch meal option with two vegetables, Naan and rice for about $10 and you can make the vegetables unlimited for additional $2 - which we didn't need since the portions were pretty good. They also have similar chicken option for a little bit more price. We enjoyed our meal and I am sure we will be here again. read more

They offer big reservations online but can make reservations for bigger groups if you call them! They had an automatic gratuity added to our party of 10-15ish. I am not the sort of person who would go to a restaurant because of a celebrity endorsement. Indeed, I doubt I've ever considered such a thing in my literally thousands of experiences dining out. But something tickled me about the fact that this place posted about William Shatner and Brent Spiner dining here, despite the fact that their promotional video ineptly fused different Star Trek eras. Having said that, I still wouldn't have eaten here if I didn't think it was going to be high quality Indian food, and it was. The suburban regions of the Triangle are one of the best areas for Indian cuisine in the U.S., but this location in downtown Raleigh is not overwhelmed with direct competition. They've decorated the heck out of this multilevel space and offer a wide variety of regional dishes. Their chai comes with unrefined sugar to sweeten to taste, which I used some but not all of. I was offered a complimentary golgappas shot which was nice, and my vegetable dumplings were mouthwatering. The star of the show though, was a classic. Channa bhatura is one of those dishes that's good even when it's not done particularly well, but when it is done well, the spices tingle and the flavors play off of each other, and the contrast between the freshly fried bread and the wetter chickpea gravy livens up every bite. I thought I might end up with leftovers, but I downed it all. I was a little bit peeved that they charged me extra to substitute rice for a bread, and overall it was an upscale price, but given the overall quality of the experience, I wouldn't hesitate to come back and order any number of exciting dishes. read more

Came here on a cold snowy day as they were one of the few places open. We decided on a special platter $38 and were very excited when it came out as it had salmon, lamb, chicken and beef with Indian spiced rice. Delicious! The owner Sunny helped us and the service was fantastic. The ambiance is very warm and the chairs were super comfortable. We will be back. read more

Had reservations for dinner here with husband, son and girlfriend. We started with a mango chili margarita which was absolutely amazing. It seemed too sweet at first sip but then the chili kick hits you in the throat for a perfect balance. I ordered the Kashmiri Kong Paneer under Regional Favorites. I guess I didn't really know what I was ordering because it was more an appetizer than a meal but flavor was great and it was mild spice as I had requested. Husband and son got a more traditional chicken dish -- I forget the name. Husband ordered medium spicy and son hot and both were pleased with their selection. Son's girlfriend ordered a rice dish with bone in chicken pieces on it. She asked for mild spice but hers was quite spicy. We also ordered a gin drink that was fabulous. I'm not usually a gin fan but this particular drink had a unique flavor. Service was good. I would likely return here but order something different. read more

Budacai recently rebranded as Amrut and they still serve delicious boba tea! While attending a convention downtown we stopped here for some late night boba. The owners greeted us warmly and walked us through the new menu. We ordered several boba drinks. I chose the mango lassi with boba. It was delicious! We enjoyed sipping on our drinks as we walked back to the convention center. Looking forward to returning to try their entrees! read more

We made a reservation at Amrut, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in the right place. The space is small, warm, and inviting. We arrived early and relaxed upstairs while waiting for the rest of our party. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, which set the tone for a great evening. Starters Crispy Sesame Cauliflower Great flavor, but not very crispy. It reminded me of sautéed squash in a tomato style sauce. The seasoning made up for the texture. Samosa Chaat Slightly spicy with excellent presentation. The onions added a unique flavor that I have not tasted in other samosa chaat dishes. Chicken Soup Outstanding. Perfectly seasoned with tender grilled chicken and veggies that complemented the broth beautifully. Garlic Cheese Naan Soft, cheesy, and delicious. A perfect match with the entrees. Main Dishes Chicken Tikka Masala The star of the night. Rich, flavorful, balanced, and not overpowering. My personal favorite. Butter Chicken Authentic and full of depth. A close second and incredibly satisfying. Chicken Biryani (Mild) Even mild had a lot of heat. Flavorful but intense, which made it harder to enjoy fully. Chicken Vindaloo Ordered spicy and delivered exactly that. Very hot and very flavorful. Overall, the spices in every dish were spot on. It truly felt like a taste of India. I will definitely be back soon. A big shoutout to the bartender. He crafts his own juices and mixes, and the drinks were amazing. The staff stayed attentive throughout the night, and I even met one of the owners who was kind and welcoming. I highly recommend visiting Amrut. Raleigh has a real gem here. read more

Highly recommend. Five of us ordered 3 appetizers to share. They were each great. Then we ordered 5 main dishes . We all shared each other dishes. Each one was great. We all loved each dish. I have been here a number of times and the food and staff and Amrut have always been top notch. The flavors in the dishes are complex and outstanding, and the spice levels served are accurate to Indian taste...medium for example is quite spicy/hot for the typical American taste. The Indian beers and liquor served are on the higher end of the scale, and complement the food perfectly. This is an outstanding restaurant....the best Indian food I have eaten in the Triangle. read more

We just came upon Amrut after attending the close by holiday festival at Moore Square. I personally love Indian food and have been to many excellent Indian restaurants. Everything was terrific, food, service, atmosphere, cleanliness. We also met the owner and had a little chat since it was quiet when we were there because it was late in the evening. The restaurant has a very extensive menu of all of the traditional Indian meals and much more. My gf's meal was a bit spicy but still quite excellent. We would definitely like to return and recommend it to those who appreciate Indian cuisine. read more

As passerby's we walked into Amrut and were welcomed with aromas of Indian spices, a nice dining space, and very helpful staff. The staff was very conscientious to walk thru the menu to accommodate gluten-free and dairy-free dishes. (As with any Indian restaurant, be sure to ask which dishes have hing/asafoetida, as the spice is often combined with wheat and sometimes rice.) The aloo gobi dish was amazing! I've had this dish in many places, including multiple India locations, and this is by far my favorite. My Indian dining mate agreed. read more

A couple of weeks ago , four of us decided to check out this Indian fusion restaurant. We were very glad that we went to dine here. Menu is refreshingly different. They had dishes inspired by different regional cuisines. India has incredibly varied cuisines by regions. We all ordered different items and the food was delicious. Service was excellent. The owner and his wife were out chatting with guests ( In my opinion that is the hallmark of a good restaurant) . I ordered poor tacos and enjoyed it tremendously. We enjoyed talking to the owners . I congratulate them and hope they will keep refreshing the menu items and continue with showcasing cuisines of India. read more

My family took me for a special birthday dinner to this restaurant on the 27th. It was so charming. Great service. Lots of dishes with interesting names and flavors. I don't know how they make those little crispy bowls they served as a before dinner appetizer! Four different kinds of naan. Come hungry. The portions are huge. Lamb was so tender. DONT COME HERE!!!! went to dinner with friends, they said we needed a reservation in order to sit we asked how long and they refused to give us a time. We then made a reservation and returned as we wanted to try this place it looked amazing and we were absolutely fooled. When we came back with the reservation, they still did not want to seat us but found a table for us. We sat down and waiting 15 minutes before I had to ASK for water and menus. Then as soon as we sat down 3 white women with no reservation were seated with no issue and then again with another white couple with no reservation and immediately starting serving them with water and menus. As we tried to order, neither the waiter or host would make eye contact with our group as we tried to order. when he finally took our order he never came to check on the table or ask us if we needed anything like a typical restaurant. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes for us to finally recieve our orders. Did we order anything crazy? No, it was tikka masala and butter chicken all of which has never taken long that at any other restaurant. It took so long our friend had to leave early because of how late it took them to bring it. I understand cooking can take awhile but shit let the customer know like every other restaurant. But instead, they chose to avoid eye contact and stay in the back and act extremely confused when asked simple questions. It took me asking the waiter and the food runner for the check 2 separate times before they finally brought it to us but not without acting like they didn't know what a check was. We asked for boxes and they acted extremely confused and they gave us nothing for the bread. what is so confusing about asking for water, a menu, a box or a check. I've never had such a bad experience like this before it was really sad to be in a place you think is going to be great only to be treated so poorly for no reason other than the obvious. No one was loud, no one was belligerent, all we wanted was a good meal to catch up with friends and instead got treated like shit. To be embolden to treat another brown person so badly is saddening and the wait staff should reflect on their behavior or fully removed if they cannot respect other ethnicities dining in the establishment. read more

I went here with my friends to catch up after not seeing eachother for a while. We were excited to try this spot as it's been on our list for a while. When we arrived we were told we would need a reservation despite there being multiple tables open when we arrived. We made a reservation online and returned about 20 minutes later to be seated. When we got back we were told that we needed to make the reservation sooner and told us they would not be able to seat us. We asked how long the wait would be before they could seat our reserved table because we were willing to walk around some and come back when they could accommodate us. He sighed and then reluctantly let us to a table that was available from the second we walked in the first time. Right after we sat down a group of white women walked in with no reservation and were seated immediately with no issues and again after that a group of men walked in with no reservation and a table was found for them promptly and they were given water and menus. I heard them answer no to if they had a reservation or not. After we were seated for 15 minutes someone finally brought menus over and we then had to ASK for water at the table. The wait staff refused to make eye contact with us for the entire night and didn't check on our table one time. It took over an hour for a bowl of butter chicken and a bowl of tiki masala to come out. During that time we were not checked on once. Our friend ended up having to leave early before my friend and I got our food because it took so long for them to bring food out. As soon as we got our food we asked for a box and the check because we had been dealing with poor treatment from the staff for over and hour. As we left we called them out stating that if they only want to serve white people that they should make that clear and the waiter laughed at us. As if he did not speak to us the entire night for any other reason other than the fact of the obvious. I do not recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to be served well and in a timely manner. On top of that the food was bland and i've had better from trader joe's. read more
