Just a warning buying anything with higher mileage from the lot last year during the summer we purchased what I believed to be very nice Yukon XL it had 117,000 miles on it which my husband was wary of it being a little high but we read these vehicles were pretty reliable and I really liked the vehicle. We added a warranty and thank goodness he did things immediately went bad. Within a week, the car was thunking and shifting very rough. I had noticed this on the test ride, but was assured it was just "the way those cars drive" I should have left right there as that was a complete lie. Also when I asked if they could gas it up before we took it off the lot he laughing told me "no not for the price you got it" like we were getting some deal of a lifetime which I will quickly prove why that's EXTRA insulting. Chad very nicely did pay to get the torque converter fix and I very much appreciated that except for one detail that I will point out later. Over the next year, the car continued to have very severe electrical and mechanical problems, leaving me and my children's stranded MULTIPLE times and spending more time in multiple shops across whatcom County then it spent in my possession I am listing everything we had to do to keep it on the road; a new transmission, new ball joints, differential leak, gigantic oil leak, motor mounts, new keys, leaking headlight, ignition switch, battery, alternator, brakes, rotors and new tires. ALL WITHIN 7 MONTHS!! Even with all these repairs it STILL had a list of things it needed, from the day we took it it literally never stopped needing something, we would get it back and it would return 2 weeks later with a new problem. The reason I am now not appreciative of the original torque converter replacement was I was told by a very reputable shop that they would never just replace a torque converter and that was just to cover up that the transmission was completely bad and obviously that was true as the transmission did not hold up even a month after the torque converter was replaced. Before attacking me, I completely understand that used vehicles are a risk and it is completely on me that I should've had the vehicle more closely inspected, but I did trust this car lot and I thought at least their inspection process was a little bit more honest than this proved to be. from everything that needed to be done to the vehicle it is obvious it was severely neglected and then put on their lot to be sold with no concern for anyone who would have it in the future. I am out literally thousands of dollars on vehicle repairs & towing bills, not to mention tons of inconveniences and at risk safety instances so after having enough, we went and traded it in for a completely brand new car, but it's just ridiculous It had to come to that. when my husband went back to try to get the remainder of the warranty back we were quickly informed we weren't owed anything and not given as much as even a "sorry" for all our troubles. I will be keeping all the documentation, receipts, towing bills, etc to remind myself NEVER to buy another used car. Just please bring a mechanic to inspect if you are considering this lot. read more

I recently had a transaction with Chad after having driven past his business off and on for the last 20+ years. I had only a casual interest in the car and thought a phone conversation would satisfy all I needed to know yet Chad's straight forward manner and willingness to answer all my questions openly and honestly (he was very willing to tell me what he did not know about the car, as well as what he did) encouraged me to take the LONG trip to his dealership. He was able to arrange what I consider to be a great success for me, the consigner of the car and himself. By my view Chad "got" the least out of the deal, yet he handled every aspect of the transaction as though we were family. I'm very grateful to have come across this dealer and the car. I understand now how he has succeeded in his business for so long, in a "small" community, through good times and bad. This used car dealership ripped off my wife and I. We bought a used Volvo and when I noticed a 'skipping' in the car they said they "didn't notice it". On our travels home it became worse. We took their word as we were traveling and needed a vehicle to transport our new family cross-country. The problem is now worse and a more competent mechanic (one that is also not in cahoots with them) has since informed us the transmission is going. We are now unsafe in the vehicle and to fix it we'll nearly be doubling the price we already paid for the car. Stay away from these rip-off artists. Two other cars we purchased within the family have quickly begun to deteriorate as well. read more

Bought a car here, some issues came up after I took it home. They said bring it back, I did, they fixed it! It wasn't a small fix either... Thanks for being honest and upstanding, you've changed my view on used car lots!! I recommend them to everyone! Edit: Updated 11/04/14, I take it back! Shortly after they paid to "fix" the car multiple things started going wrong. Including the "repairs" they had done. I tried to get them to help me but ended up getting the run around. I had to pay over $4,000.00 to get my car repaired, had a blown head gasket among other things. I have waited for them to do the right thing and at least help with some of the costs, but they are not. I am very disappointed, I thought Chad was trying to help the locals and build back his reputation. I guess he just wants to sell lemons and be a cheat. read more

I bought a $15,000.00 car from chambers. They had just got it in and said the mechanic looked at it and it was in excellent condition. I was a single mother at that time with a special needs child that had many appointments in Seattle. I needed a reliable car and the sales man said I couldn't get a more reliable car then the one I was buying. I decided to buy it and drove it home. It was not running right and I did not feel good about it, so I drove it immediately back...no more then an hour after buying it. I went in and asked if I could return the vehicle and buy my van back. The man I spoke to was very degrading and said that this dealership wasn't Macy's and I couldn't just return what I bought. I doubt he would have treated a man so disrespectfully. So in tears, I walked out. Well, a few weeks later, Chambers offered a free mechanic check on my vehicle since I bought it there. I guess it was a special going on? Anyways, I thought I might as well, find out what was wrong with the $15,000 car I just bought. After the mechanic looked at it, he said that I needed over $2,000 repairs. I didn't have $2,000. I trusted, the sales man who said that the car was in excellent condition because their mechanic looked at it....probably the same mechanic who now said there was $2,000 repairs needed. So I contacted my ex husband who is a master mechanic and he flew up from Nevada and looked the car over. He said that the dealership should have not sold me this car in the condition it was in, and that I really didn't need $2,000 in repairs. He ended up fixing the car and spending a little over $500.00. I then got a lecture from my ex (well deserved) for buying a car without him or my dad with me. In my opinion and experience, Chambers is a rip off that sales cars that are in need of major repairs. I would never buy any cars from this place and I have told many others my experience with Chambers and all have said they would never buy a car from Chambers. With the internet and review/ratings it's amazing that Chambers doesn't learn and start dealing with customers honestly.... read more

Came across an ad for a truck from this dealer on CarGurus. The ad stated "Crew Cab" and had a stock picture of a crew cab. When I asked for actual pictures, they sent ones of a different truck. When I asked why, they then said they thought they sold the one listed on CarGurus, because they couldn't find the truck. It's not that big a dealership. Do your used vehicle shopping elsewhere. Chad was so relaxed and helpful, and I truly appreciate the way he sells cars. My husband and I bought a truck off his lot and he was so patient with us as we dealt with a trade-in for our broken down subaru that was stuck in Seattle, my husbands stolen identity, and not to mention our very bad luck even after the sale was finalized when the truck wouldn't start.
