We got in line at 7:30am and I was already around the 100th person by the time stamps were handed out at 8:40am. The dedication was real. The ambiance was great -- lively, exciting, and definitely grand-opening energy. That said, the tea drinks were a bit watered down. My sister mentioned that normally their drinks have a much stronger tea flavor, so I'm hoping it was just due to the high volume and rush of the event. I have heard a lot of good things about Chagee, so I was able to ask my housemate to pick one up for me at the Long Beach Location. I ordered the peach oolong milk tea, and it was very good! As for ambiance, I can not really say, so I will speak on the packaging of the drinks, as well as the quality of the tea. I enjoyed the fact that they gave out this straw that minimized big gulping of the drink, and actually let me savor the tea for longer. That was pretty innovative compared to other boba shops that I have been to prior, (but I guess this is mainly a tea shop anyways, so of course the focus would be more on the tea.) I think that the tea quality is very good, and very refreshing, but I just prefer sweeter drinks in general. I would come again. read more

Today was monkey hot so we dropped in here for a drink and to take a brief stroll through Belmont Shores. The shores are not my jam as the stores did not really capture my interest and the area is very spread out so on this sweaty day you had to walk far to even investigate if there were any interesting stores. Ugh sooo good! The service is super friendly, and there's some samples at the front door. I also like that their cups have the caffeine information printed, and no upcharge for oat milk! One small point - I ordered the amber oolong and my friend ordered the roasted oolong, but it maybe tasted like they mixed up the teas in our orders? This chagee is much less crowded than other ones I've been to, and what's even better is that there's a decent amount of minimalistic classy and clean seating around the shop with tons of natural light. Just open this weekend in LB neighborhood and they only have 7 type of tea drinks. No boba, no anything, just tea and milk....parking are meters parkings (street, parking lot) or neighborhood parking. Nice and easy going service. Clean and well light decor with good chill vibe. Came for their grand opening weekend and was able to get a free gift along with my drinks. Chagee is a Chinese tea brand known for their tea lattes. It's an upscale tea brand, quality of the teas are generally good, and the branding also feels premium. Price of the drinks are about $7, but they are a little larger than an average milk tea. For my hot milk tea, it was a little too milk forward for my tastes and I should have had them make it stronger for me; however, I had limited time on my parking meter, which is the drawback to this area. I'm generally a fan as I've sought out their tea at their century city and Torrance locations. Glad I can get good tea here in Belmont Shore. Great addition to the area. This spot is so perfect for a hot summer day when you need something refreshing! Each cup goes for about $7-8 but it's a lot of tea that you're getting. There's plenty of seating so if you need a third space to study or work, this would be perfect. It's not the most quiet though, and the ambiance is definitely casual with a lot of people sitting and talking. The drinks are on the sweet side. The less sweet option kinda tastes like the normal sweet option for a lot of drink establishments. And unlike other tea spots, they don't offer any toppings (jellies, boba, etc). I really like that they include a label with the nutritional information for anyone who needs to be recording their sugar/calorie/caffeine intake. There's a small parking lot in the back of the building that's metered, but if you're just dropping by to pick up, you can use the free 15 min grace period. Second time here and decided to try their amber oolong tea latte (less sweet) with oat milk~ it definitely had that prominent deep tea taste that I look for and the oat milk and sugar did not overwhelm the tea at all~ great balance! Atmosphere Since it was my first time here, I had no expectations, but when I first walked in, what immediately caught my eye was the decor and minimalist vibe. It's definitely an Instagram-worthy place, with cute and unique decorations throughout. It also seems like a great spot to study, as they have outlets under almost every table--though there aren't too many tables to choose from. Food/Drinks As I mentioned, being my first visit, I didn't have any particular expectations for the drinks. I tend to order the Jasmine Melty by default and use that as a baseline to compare other drinks. Like many other tea places in Southern California, this spot emphasizes the quality of different teas. Their mission is to highlight each tea, so every drink we tried had a strong tea-forward taste. Not sure about your preferences, but we tend to go for less sweet drinks, and this really hit the spot for us. Service Since it was opening weekend, and I believe they were still in soft opening mode, you could tell the employees were still getting used to the equipment, the POS system, and some of the menu items. That's completely understandable, so there's no criticism in that regard. They were all courteous, and the service was timely. Overall I highly recommend giving this place a try. Even if you're not a tea person, it's a refreshing addition to 2nd Street, where every block seems to have at least two coffee shops. I am so happy Chagee opened up so close by me. I first tried it in Shanghai 2 years ago so it's amazing to have one close by now. The Torrance one is alright but has the worst seating area. This LB location has many seats and nice decorations. I'm eager to come and study here as I see they have plugs near the tables. My boyfriend and I probably have spent over $100 here in the span of 3 months. In that span, our service has gotten worse. The service time is over 15 minutes. For us. We called today about the wait time. The people that ordered after us had received their order before us. We spoke to a manager. She did not offer to resolve anything. She just said she hoped our drinks tasted well apart from the customer service experience. It was a blended drink that was made faster than our teas. Which also caught us off guard.
