This is 5 star not because it's the most amazing restaurant or banh min of all time, but because it does exactly what it's supposed to and doesn't pretend to be more than that. 5 stars because: - quality and quantity of food for the value keeps me coming back (and I'm Vietnamese, grew up in California) - it's quick and accessible from my workplace I wouldn't come here to impress someone, but I would bring them here if we wanted some viet food that tasted good and doesn't break the wallet. Lunch special is the best--$11.50 for a banh min, drink, and side. Employees take care of you but not overly motherly. That's all I really need for my lunch breaks. In case you're wondering what I get. I do the pork banh mi, Thai tea, and Cajun French fries (comes with sauce). I upgrade to nem nuong when I'm stressed and want to treat myself. Honestly, the restaurant feels akin to other family owned Vietnamese restaurants I've eaten at with good food at good prices. If you want fancy and clean and instagramable, don't come here. I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews, but it's not traditional, common, or authentic Vietnamese. It's tastes like they are buying up the cheapest cuts of meat and substituting some of the more niche ingredients with cheap replacements (lettuce on a bao bun?) We ordered pork banh mi and pork bao and the pork is just awful. It tastes like they boil it then roll it in some mayo based sauce. The bao and banh mi fell apart and ingredients wouldn't stay on. Not that it mattered, the picked veggies were bland and tasteless. It was a mess to eat and tasted flat out bad. You order up front at a kiosk and I added a bottle of water to my order and it turns out they ran out of water and tried to get me to just get a soda. I asked for a refund which was my given to me in cash instead of back to my card. The restaurant is dirty. Not just the tables, but the floor, the walls, the doors, all of it. What started as a promising takeout meal ended up being one of the most regrettable dining experiences I've had in a while. We ordered a pork bánh mì with spicy sauce, rare steak pho, shrimp summer rolls, and a milk tea with tapioca. On pickup, everything looked fresh and appetizing. The bánh mì had a crisp baguette, the pho was flavorful, and the summer rolls appeared well-prepared. During the meal, we genuinely enjoyed the food and had no immediate complaints. Unfortunately, the next day, both of us had diarrhea. While it's impossible to know exactly what caused it, this was the only meal we shared, making the timing difficult to ignore. Food can look and taste great in the moment, but food safety and proper handling are just as important as flavor. Bee Banh Mi is a very solid Vietnamese option with some fantastic food. Tucked away in a strip mall that is just off of the main road, this place seems to be a bit of a hidden gem. I mean, if I didn't know this restaurant existed, then I'd have no reason to ever travel down the side road that this place is on. But it is definitely worth it, they've got some great options and an item that you wouldn't expect to be amazing. As their name would suggest, Bee Banh Mi does a pretty decent job with their Banh Mi. I order the pork Banh Mi and it was a pretty hefty sandwich, but was well put together. The texture balance was spot on, the bread was crisp and not too soggy on the inside. The vegetables were fresh and had a nice crunch to them and the meat was tender. The flavors were also complimentary of each other. The pickled veggies countered the fattiness of the pork and the pork itself could be individually identified and had a nice bit of spice to it. I've also had their rice plate with pork. It came with a salad and some fish sauce. I think it was a pretty good dish, but the Banh Mi is a better bang for your buck. Something about taking a bite of different textures in flavors just resonates more with me. However, Bee Banh Mi's big surprise isn't a Vietnamese item, it is their french fries, particularly their chipotle dipping sauce. This side dish has a bit of a cult following, at least, among my group of friends. Sometimes they just come here to order a few orders of their fries, it is simply that good. Not only are they seasoned heavily, but the sauce is top tier. It's got a hint of sweetness with a bit of flare. I think it's better than my favorite Zaxby's dipping sauce or even Canes Sauce. It's crazy to think I am even raving this much about a french fry. As much as I think Bee Banh Mi makes great food, I think I don't come out here as often because their hours can be so unpredictable. I had an event here once and I drive out to find out the restaurant was just closed. On another instance, it seemed as if they were closing early so we weren't able to get the full representation of the business. Despite this, the few times I have been able to pull up, I've been treated to some delicious food and a good experience. I hope others can find this hidden spot! read more

A trip to this nondescript shopping center yielded a fresh and delicious lunch. The fries weren't quite as special as the other reviews seemed to suggest, but they were still fries and I was hungry. My banh mi with tofu was available with a garlic chili sauce for no extra charge, which was fantastic. A Thai tea was ample. And frankly, I still can't believe how good the price was for that lunch special. I had no trouble finding parking and they also had some outdoor seating available for a nice day. Ok, let's get to the food. I'm not sure if it was the owner I met, but he was very nice! He said he prepared my food for me and that I was going to experience a lot of flavors in this meal. And let me tell you, he did not LIE. The sandwich itself was so flavorful. Idk what they marinated that pork in, but kudos to them for doing so. The sandwich was topped with jalapeño, carrots, cilantro and pickled cucumber? We aren't sure what it was, but does that really matter when we devoured it? Not really. The fries were seasoned to perfection without being salty. It is very hard to achieve this. Another head nod. Also, the sauce is very much giving 'can I order a larger batch of it next time?' Because it is DELICIOUS. It's sweet with a variety of flavors we couldn't pinpoint, but once again, devoured. This place was a last minute find when I was craving pho but wanted to try a new place. There were no tables left, so we ordered to go and waited against the wall leading to the bathroom for about 30 minutes. There were about 10 other people against the same wall doing their best to stay out of the way as well. The restaurant was honestly pretty dirty and greasy as well. The Pho was delicious with very tender steak, the boa buns were some of the best I've ever had and they came with an orange sauce that is to die for. We ordered some food to bring on our flight back to Newark, but I don't think it would have tasted any better even if we had eaten it fresh. We had: -Spring Rolls - these were a joke. I've had spring rolls from a supermarket freezer that tasted better than this. I was also under the impression that these would have meat in them (like the typical Vietnamese spring rolls) but they were just spring rolls with a sad portion of cabbage/carrots inside -Pork Banh Mi - this wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It was the best item we ordered of the bunch, but is smaller than the typical banh mi -Salad Noodle Bowl with Chicken - they make this with bits of chicken breast (as opposed to a whole boneless thigh) and it was so dry. It also tasted old, like they microwaved it to heat it up Portions are small. An order like this would usually be able to feed me and my husband, but we were still hungry afterwards and ended up spending money on airport food anyway. read more

I was visiting from out of town and Bee Banh Mi came up in my search. I love a good banh mi so of course had to stop in. I guess you can order on the screen but I didn't even notice the screen to order on, I placed my order the good old fashioned way with a human being :) The lady working the front, she seemed young like maybe a college student, was very sweet and brought out a little tub of toys and let my kids each pick one while I was figuring out what to order.
