Chai Wallah is such a hidden gem in Lomita! From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into another world. The interior is absolutely adorable, incredibly spacious, and has a relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile and enjoy your food and drinks. The staff here are wonderful--attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They happily offered recommendations and shared some of their personal favorites, which made the experience feel even more special. The chai is the real deal and easily the best in town. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, it's exactly what great chai should be. I also tried the Mango Knafeh, which was surprisingly delicious and unlike anything I've had before. The combination of flavors was unique and memorable. For something savory, I ordered the chicken pot pie. The curry-based filling was warm, comforting, and incredibly satisfying. It had a wonderful depth of flavor that really hit the spot. It was a little salty for my taste, but that's likely because I'm particularly sensitive to salt. The pastries and desserts are also fantastic and definitely worth saving room for. Between the beautiful ambiance, excellent service, authentic chai, and delicious food, Chai Wallah has quickly become one of my favorite spots. I came in early this morning and ordered a Kabob Panini, Doodh Pati, Kashmiri Chai, and cake. I also wanted to try the Pot Pie, but the kitchen didn't make any. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was told there was no gas for the stove, so they couldn't make any chai. No chai at Chai-Wallah -- pretty ironic. I've watched their Instagram posts about "perfecting the experience," but my visit was the opposite. I came specifically for morning chai, and there was none. Overall, the experience was very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll return. Food Review: No Chai: No gas, so nothing could be made. Mango Cake: Not fresh. Tasted old, crumbled apart when cut, and was very dry. Kabob Panini: Waited almost 40 minutes. It arrived half broken and drenched in oil -- completely disappointing. I don't like criticizing new businesses, but if you can't operate properly in the morning, don't open in the morning. Have staff arrive earlier, follow a checklist, and make sure basic operations and food quality are in order before serving customers. read more

This is an interesting new establishment operational in the South Bay. What they offer is a nice selection of coffee and tea orientated drinks, plus they have a very nice bakery section. In addition, you can order off their menu, which is an interesting take on South Asian/American cuisine. Just off of Pacific Coast Highway, this is a location that you probably need to know about to find. But, once you do, it's an interesting space to go into. They have a central dining/drinking area where you can enjoy your beverages and/or food. The tables are nicely separated, as well as they have a large group table if you come in with a family or other gathering. Plus, they have a few tables outside, lining the street. As this is a new business, I believe they need to get things organized and situated a little bit better, perhaps hire some additional staff, as when I recently visited this café, the man taking the orders and creating the drinks, (who was very nice), had to continually run to the back to help prepare the food. Thus, like we experienced, you may have to wait quite a while to even be able to put in your order and to finally receive it. It really took a long-long time! In terms of parking, there's obviously street parking along Eshelman Ave. And, they have a small parking lot in the rear. It's kind of interesting back there as that they are a new business and they've just repainted the parking lines. In doing so, however, they've painted them very close together. So, it's a little bit tight back there if you have to park next to somebody. I truly wish that I could give this café a higher rating, but from my initial experience, the wait for something as simple as a chai latte was insane. It literally took them over thirty minutes to prepare two of them for us. Plus, we received our food shortly before we received our drinks. I think everyone hates that. I know I do. As we were waiting, people were literally coming in and leaving because they were getting no counter service. Plus, the couple that had arrived just before us were ranting about how slow it was to get the two drinks they ordered. It's not like the restaurant was busy or anything. There were only a very few customers. The Breakfast Pizza we ordered was, however, very good! I would recommend it. But, it took forever to arrive. They really need more staff and better organization! Overall, this is a nice addition to the greater South Bay area. A fun place to grab a drink, and/or have a small meal. With time, I believe, they will truly bloom, and come into their own, offering an interesting addition to the area. But, be warned, at least as a write this review, be prepared to wait for whatever it is you may order. read more

This was my second time at Chai Wallah. The first time was the day after the opening and things were a little slow but the chai was good. Good cup of chai but they're making each cup specifically for you. The sandwiches are always good. My favorite is the Chapi Sabdwich. Today everything was much more streamlined. The drinks came out in about 10-15 mins(they make the chai to your custom tastes so they made our friend's with oat milk and she really liked it). I like how the sugar is on the side so you put in as much as you like. The murals are so pretty. There's definitely a lot going on but it is a vibe. We enjoyed our chai time and the girls loved the hot chocolate while the Moms loved their chai and Chapli Sandwiches. So happy to have legit chai and this eclectic space in our community. read more

Always hunting for a good chai spot in the Torrance / South Bay area, so my wife and I were excited to finally visit after following their journey on social media. We stopped in during their launch week. The interior decor is nice, though you can tell it's still a work in progress in terms of finish. We ordered the traditional tea, which tasted good, but the experience lacked some finer details - for example, the kettle didn't come with a burner to keep the pot hot. We skipped the desserts as they didn't look particularly appealing at the time. Parking is located right behind the store using the CVS parking lot - I'm sure in next few weeks CVS will start posting signs not to use their lot. I definitely respect the hard work it takes to open a business, but since they took nearly a year to launch, I was expecting a more polished experience. On the plus side, service was good and our order arrived quickly. Hopefully, they can dial in those small details as they find their rhythm! read more

This review is strictly for the Grand Opening Chaos: I will be generous with the 2-star review. I overheard that your intention is to eventually open another shop. If you do, your Grand Opening & service needs to be much improved & more efficient! We were prepared for waiting a long time in line, but not for an hour for a drink after being ordered! We arrived at 9AM and were the 30th & 31st people in line. However, by the time we got our Golden Ticket, the numbers were 47 & 48. That many people had cut the line. That is totally unfair for the ones who waited 3+ hours! What was even worse was that someone connected to the shop helped a person (cut) by taking her order & getting her a Golden Ticket or two. Then the guy with same customer went to place an order himself, essentially cutting (again) those of us who were waiting to order, and got 2 more Golden Tickets. I feel so bad for the people who patiently waited and should have gotten a ticket but didn't because of all the line cutters. Suggestion: Someone should have been managing the line with a hand stamp or a ticket number to keep everyone honest! Why did the Chai-Wallah Chai (drink) take an hour to get to us? Drinks were consistently not making it to the right people, ours included! We heard numerous Chai-Wallah Chais being called for other names after ours should have been called. We even inquired 3 different times with the assurance they'd bring it to us soon. Not good service at all. The interior is very nice! A floral ceiling and jellyfish glowing inside the lighting is awesome! The murals were nice. Each of their hot cups have one of the murals on them, that's cool! When we come back, I'll be able to view them better. We got Golden Tickets, so we'll be in to claim the free food and/or drinks. cute little cafe in lomita! you can tell a lot of effort was put into decorating the interior, and it seemed family owned + operated which made it feel really cozy and welcoming. definitely a nice place to chill and hang with friends. the pot pie was really good and well spiced. they also gave us a free dessert which was super sweet of them. i will say the drinks were good! the rose latte was pretty weak on the rose flavor though, but it was good. and the iced chai honestly tasted more like coffee(?) maybe i should have gotten it hot. i also think they need to improve the menu format because it was confusing and hard to read. organization/management could definitely be better too. i noticed other reviews mentioning long waits and forgotten orders, and i can see how that could happen. but they seem new, so i'm willing to give them some slack while they figure things out. also the parking lot is a little difficult to access, so i ended up parking at the drug store nearby. overall i really want this place to succeed because the vibe is cute and there's a lot of potential here, they just need to smooth out some of the operational stuff! read more

Mubarak ho to this wonderful little shop that just opened! I enjoyed their Kashmiri Chai which had a wonderful flavor to it. It even came in a kuj'ja, so cute. My kids and I admired the murals on the walls which were so beautiful and full of color. I'd love to come back soon and try something from their menu. On another note: I read every single review of this place and I'm honestly stunned. Some low reviews seem valid. I myself did not experience bad customer service and am a firm believer that there is absolutely no substitute for excellent service. Even if the product is mid, if the service is excellent and you're a small business I will absolutely support you. Communities thrive because of small businesses. It seems like management here has some work to do in reaching out to disappointed customers. But some of these other reviews, man I wanna take a danda and smack you guys who are complaining about the grand opening. If you're so frustrated, email the management team and get it settled offline. Yelp is so extremely important especially for small businesses and you're literally complaining because YOU chose to go to their grand opening event that was advertising FREE products. Of course it's going to be chaotic! Exactly the reason I didn't go. The cafe took full responsibility for it on IG and issued a huge apology which to me shows they are working on doing better which I can appreciate. Ambiance: Absolutely loved the ambience at Chaiiwala. The interior had such a soft, floral, beautiful wall art and calm music playing in the background that made the whole place feel cozy and relaxing. We originally asked to take our order to go, but ended up sitting there. Food: It was our first time trying this place and while the menu is not huge yet, there are definitely enough options to try, including different regional chais which is so nice and not just limited to one style. We were also told they'll be expanding the menu soon which is exciting. We ordered the cold hazelnut latte with vanilla foam, masala chai, chapali kabab sandwich, and potato puff. Both food items were really good; flavorful, fresh.. The drinks were also enjoyable! I live close by and have been here at least 5 times. Everything I've tried from coffee to food to dessert have all been really good. The café looks like a beautiful Instagram place to stop in and take pictures. Guys this is not a chain restaurant where they pump out orders. Stopped by Chai Wallah during their soft opening and honestly came away really impressed. The space is beautiful, very well lit, and clearly designed with a lot of thought. It has that clean, upscale, Instagram worthy vibe without feeling forced. There's also plenty of seating inside, which makes it feel comfortable whether you want to stop in for a quick drink or actually sit and enjoy the place. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which always makes a big difference, especially during a soft opening when places are still getting into their rhythm. I got the Victoria Coffee and it tasted premium. I was told these espresso beans are straight from Italy. You can tell they care about quality. The whole experience felt polished, and the café itself has a really unique atmosphere that stands out from the usual coffee spots. Came here on the grand opening and it was a mess. Obviously there was a line but the fact people were waiting for 4-5 hrs and maybe only 40-50 people ahead is insane. On top of that, after I order the drinks I waited another 45 mins just for my coffee to arrive?? Staff is running around like a chicken with a head cut off. No idea what they are doing, no system or management. Decided to give this place another chance, Walked in, no greeting from the staff. I looked over the menu and then ended up waiting 5-7 mins just for someone to take my order. Clearly the employee saw I was ready for my order as he can see I was looking at him yet didn't approach several mins later. Once he did come, he says "Yea" and that's it. Either the owner doesn't know how to run a business or they have completely untrained staff. Better response is "Hi, apologize for the wait time, what can I get started for you?" I order a drink and let the staff member know I have a golden ticket and says he doesn't know how to put accept it and that I need to talk with the owner (in a rude tone) ?? Excuse me?, you're the employee who doesn't know how to do their job, ask the owner yourself or go ask a different staff member that does know how to do their job. My girl friend and I have been waiting for this place to open, as huge chai fans. Its adorableeee inside (they really spent time on the decor) and we tried the original chai wallah - chai, and also the pistachio and mango desserts. The mango was amazinggg, chai was def not too sweet, but everyone behind the counter was super sweet - we sat for a good while and people were in and out the whole time. Street parking was easy, one thing I hope is still on the way: a hook or small table for the (gorgeous) bathroom: I didn't have a place to put my jacket while I used the restroom. I see other reviews complaining about the soft opening that I think are super harsh, I support small businesses and small businesses have growing pains that the local community should be supportive and patient with - especially on day 1! Today i visited chai wallah for the second time, first time i was there for a soft opening - second time was definitely a improvement. The staff is great and polite, great atmosphere. The drinks were great not too sweet like starbucks , but really the star of the order was their chicken pot pie. It was the best chicken pot pie I have ever had (not pictured because i ate it so fast). The shop is really beautiful and I can tell they put a lot of thought into everything. I'm baffled at how poorly this soft opening was executed. As a former franchise development coach for a national coffee chain, my job was preparing new stores for opening. They clearly put a lot of time and money into the concept and look of the cafe, only to leave it in the hands of two polite but ill-trained teenagers running the front of house. I knew things were off when the same couple was still at the register as when we got in line eight minutes earlier (they had two drinks and a cake). When we eventually made it to the line, my wife ordered a tea from the menu, which they didn't have. Not only were none of the teas on the menu available to order, but this seemed to be a surprise to both of the staff. As we were waiting for my drink, I noticed that none of the seven patrons before us, now sitting down, had any of their orders. I could hear the murmurings and see the head shaking all around. We were all thinking the same thing; why the hell is taking so long and why is the owner not here running the business on opening weekend. There was a lot of "Sorry about that's" coming from the staff. By any measure this was an utter disaster. You only get one chance to make a good impression, especially in food and beverage. I don't think any of these people will be back. Most people understand that a soft opening is intended to work out the kinks and get real world training, but this was dereliction on a scale I've never seen at a grand opening. Whoever the owner is, shame on them for abandoning their business and employees, who I feel bad for, at the most critical stage. read more

Tried the chai latte and it was phenomenal -- super flavorful and comforting. My only complaint is the portion size after like 3 sips it was basically gone. The pistachio latte was okay. The pistachio flavor definitely came through, but the coffee itself needed to be stronger. It kinda tasted more like pistachio milk/water than an actual latte. Overall still decent, just wish the espresso balanced it out more. One thing I really liked though is that they're open until 10 PM. Sometimes you just need that late night caffeine fix and not a lot of coffee spots stay open that late. read more
