Stopped by Cool Beans with our friends for a double date lunch on a weekend afternoon. The restaurant is really cute, bright, and inviting. The staff is also very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious, and the drinks were unique. We ordered the citrus matcha and bumble espresso, both of which were light and refreshing. The caffeinated tonics also looked yummy. For food, we opted for the mango and chia syrniki, which was lightly sweet and had the consistency of pan-fried cottage cheese, and the Shakshuka. My only feedback is that the portions were a bit small, and we all wished the Shakshuka was served with more sourdough. Our friends got the strawberry & orange lemonade, matcha latte, Shakshuka, and the cheese & dill syrniki, which they also enjoyed. Overall, would recommend for a light meal and refreshing drinks. We went to Cool Beans for breakfast on a weekend. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. There's seating indoors and outdoors. Upon entering, you immediately see a case of Honey Cake slices. It looks so gorgeous and tempting, we had to order! It was unique in texture and had a perfect amount of sweetness. The layers are very impressive too! We got the pancakes too which are made of farmers cheese, which were a hit for our group! The service is incredibly kind and friendly here. It's just a couple of people working on the food and taking orders, so important to be patient, but everything came out quite fast! Came here a while ago, but thought I'd write a nice review! Stopped by after an appointment and really craved shakshuka for breakfast. Super hot when it's served, delicious, and so comforting in the morning. I also ordered a Raf drink, very rich and spiced. The service was quick, and I was able to ask questions about the menu! There's limited outlets on the sides, but I was able to get one to work. Small seating but makes for a cozy space with some friends. This is a fairly new cafe. They don't have a permanent sign yet. The interior is fairly small. They have artwork on the wall, along with a bookshelf on the right hand side wall. Seating is limited, but they have seating both indoors and outdoors. There are five tables indoors. Two are small tables for two. There are four small tables for two outdoors. I chose to sit outside. It's a little stuffy inside, and when at full capacity, it gets crowded. I ordered and paid before sitting outside. They only have one laminated food menu and one laminated drink menu to order from. I ordered the avocado toast and a 12 ounce latte with almond milk. In terms of types of milk, they offer almond, oat, soy, and whole milk. Staff are friendly, but they need more staff. Unfortunately, there was only one person taking orders and making drinks in the front. I believe someone was in the back cooking the food. When I got here, there were only two parties ahead of me. After I placed my order, there was a large group of people who arrived, but they received their drinks before I did. I had to go back inside to ask where my drink was twice. He delivered my latte. No design. If you squinted a little, it could possibly look like an embryo. Afterwards, my avocado toast was delivered, along with a wooden container full of utensils and napkins. The avocado toast was alright. It consisted of toasted white bread spread with cream cheese, scrambled eggs, topped with peppered and sliced avocado. It came with a side salad; not too much dressing. Cool Beans is a café located on PCH. If you know the area, the Ford dealership is right across the street. Plus, Cool Beans is in the same strip mall as the restaurant, The Pan. So, it's pretty easy to find. In terms of their layout, it's very basic. Not in an artistic/minimalist sort of way, just very basically put together. They have a few tables inside. The problem I find with dining inside of this café is that it's pretty stuffy. Personally, I just don't find it enjoyable in there. They do, however, have tables outside. This is where I always prefer to sit. And, I suggest this for you, as well. Outside, you can feel the breeze and can enjoy your drink and/or meal in the open air. What they offer to drink is a selection of the various coffee drinks that would be expected. Latte is always my choice. Keep in mind, they do not offer Non-Fat or 2% milk. Only whole milk. But, they do have almond, oat, and soy milk if that is your preference. As far as food goes, they have a limited menu. Basically focused on breakfast. They offer things like omelettes, avocado toast, and things along those lines. I believe the high-point of this establishment is their meal offerings. They're all well presented and made with good ingredients, Plus, they have a collection of bakery items. So, you should be able to find something interesting to eat. On the downside, this café tends to be fairly popular. Meaning, you may have to wait quite a while for something you would think should be prepared fairly quickly, like say having your latte or other coffee orientated drink created. The last time I was there, I waited what I would consider quite a while, twenty-seven minutes for my latte to arrive. This is amplified, when you order one of their meals. The other problem I find with the overall service of this establishment is that they don't necessarily do things in the order received. Meaning, sometimes somebody who came in three or four people after you will get their drink before you do. I just don't think this is the right way that a café should be run! Drinks should be created and served in the order they were received. That's just my humble opinion. I believe probably the biggest problem with this café is based upon the amount of staff they have on hand. It's just not enough! Like I say, this can be a popular place, and with just a couple people working here at a time, they just do not have the staff to take care of the number of customers that arrive in an efficient manner. As far as pricing goes, this café is on the high side. For example, at my most recent encounter, it was $43.00 for two lattes and two of their avocado toasts. For a full service restaurant that price would be well expected. But, this is what I would consider high for a café of this caliber. As for parking, as it is a strip mall, they have a fairly large parking lot central to all of the businesses that are housed in this collection. So, parking should never be a problem. Overall, if you're driving down PCH, live in the area, or perhaps even work in the area, this may be a place for you to grab a pick-me-up, a bakery item, or a small meal. read more

Finally got to try this place! We got the classic and dill and chives syrniki. I personally preferred the dill and chives! Also got a slice of honey cake and each bite was indulgent. Service was great! The menu was explained to us with recommendations and they brought the food to us. I also watched them bring out a menu out to an older couple to take their order which I thought was so sweet of them. Who would have expected this plaza to have such a great coffee shop? That's Cool Beans. And it's not just a coffee shop, it's Russian inspired with the food they serve. From pancakes to crepes to shakshuka, it's all a delightful menu to eat while you drink coffee. The chicken and mushroom crepes were incredibly light yet rich and savory, I'm not sure how that works but it does. There was a nice balance of chicken, mushroom, and crepe so nothing overpowered the other. The sauce was also pretty bomb too. Maybe next time I'll get the other food items on the menu. The good: I tried the syrniki, medovik, shakshuka, hojicha latte and basque cheesecake. Everything was so delicious. I liked how the tea latte wasn't sweet. The honey flavor of the medovik stood out. The basque cheesecake was fluffy and tasted like flan. It was superb. I don't know anywhere else in Torrance area where you can get syrniki or medovik. This made my Ukrainian husband happy (and me too!). The syrniki was fluffy and had nice fresh fruit and yogurt. The pastries seemed to be fresh. So I had to return after coming for the Yelp elite event. The nice server had given me a couple of coupons for a free croissant when you buy a coffee. I really wanted to return for a sit down breakfast but since I had errands to run I only could grab a hojicha latte, honey cake, and the free croissant. I liked the hojicha latte because it had lower caffeine level and also the earthy and rich tone. It's very different from matcha and I think I like it more. The croissant was a regular croissant but oh man the honey cake was sooo good. The portion is larger than I expected and I really didn't think I would be able to eat in in one sitting but I totally did. The layers of cake and cream fit so perfectly This visit I noticed the book shelves. I didn't ask about that but it's definitely a nice place to sit, eat your breakfast, and read a book. Cool Beans in Torrance has such a cozy, inviting ambiance - the kind of café where you can relax with friends or get some quiet time with a book. They've got a great selection of coffee, teas, and specialty drinks along with fresh pastries and light bites. I tried the Hojicha Latte and it was absolutely delicious -- smooth, nutty, and perfectly balanced. The berry croissant was also very good, flaky with just the right touch of sweetness. It was not overly sweet, which I liked. The next time I'm back, I'd love to try the other drinks as well as the Syrniki, Shakshuka, and Honey Cake. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. The only downside of this place was the location. It's located right in the middle between Hawthorne and Crenshaw, on PCH...which is not really convenient. What a cute lil shop tucked away. I love the name of this place first of all. It's so cute. "Cool Beans" is a commonly used catch phrase of mine. I stopped by real quick with one of my friends for a lil matcha and chismosa. The place is small, and it was HOT inside. Unsure if they have AC or not but it was definitely not working the day I went. They have a single use restroom at the end of the hallway of the shop. It's hard to see the bakery display because there's some tables in front of it-- but the owner had told us about a honey cake? Unsure what's the official name but it's filled with layers of cream and puff pastry and she is DELISH! I would def get it again-- it was just such the right amount of sweetness. It had good texture as well. The overall flavor was smooth, creamy and light. I ordered a medium iced matcha latte with one shot of vanilla syrup but the matcha was not sweet at all, there's no sweetener in it so it was pretty bare to say the least, and the vanilla pump didn't feel like she made it in the cup. Which means I should've probably asked for more or that it's made without any sweetener. Overall the service is very friendly and nice. This review is only on their matcha. I walked into this cute coffee shop. While they have minimal seating, they do have additional seating out front and along the wall, they included a bookstand from romance book mobile flueria. This allows patrons to purchase books with their coffee. I love how they include the community in that way. The barista who took my order was very sweet. I ordered an iced matcha with mango jam. She reccomened adding a cream top which I did. and upon receiving it, I noticed she added sprinkles of matcha which was amazing. I sat down and mixed it all in. The quality of the matcha was great, it was fresh and the mango preserves added the perfect amount of sweetness. I want another matcha. I noticed they have pastries including a cake with a bunch of little layers which I am curious to try. I dont know what its called but it looked delicious. Been looking forward to this place because of some posts we saw on social media. They also have good reviews on here. It's a small place with limited pastries but they have these fluffy pancakes (Syrniki) that we wanted to try. We ordered iced coffee, an iced latte, and of course, the fluffy pancakes. We waited about 20 minutes for our order which we thought was a long time to wait for simple drinks . When we got our orders- we got hot coffees instead of iced. The lady realized she made our drinks wrong and offered to make us our cold drinks- we declined as we did not want to wait another 20 min. The syrnikis (fluffy pancakes)- were the bigger disappointment. There were 3 small pancakes, 4 tiny blueberries, and about 6 tiny slivers of strawberries. The pancakes were cold and tasteless. Wanted to so much to have a place we could go to on a regular basis and was hoping this place could be it. The fluffy pancakes did not live up to the hype either.
