Dined here on a Thursday afternoon . We ordered the mushroom soup and French onion soup. The mushroom soup was quite good and very creamy. We asked our server to omit the slice of bread in the onion soup. The bread was not missed at all and had lots of gooey cheese. I wasn't familiar with this area, & of course I used Yelp to find some place within walking distance: The Crepery Cafe. I picked up a chicken pesto sandwich with an apple cinnamon crepe for dessert. The sandwich was delish! It had just enough chicken & barely enough mozzarella to cover the bread, with tidbits of avocado & 1 slice of large tomato. The small mixed greens salad was fresh & plain with a small dose of vinaigrette... no cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, etc. I needed the crepe for my hunger to be satisfied. The crepe itself was a tad rubbery with a decent serving of brown sugar & cinnamon apples, but flavor-wise, it was tasty. A couple of years later, I came back on a Saturday afternoon an hour before closing with my son, & we sat for more than 30-mins. waiting for our order. ＼(｀0´)／ We were planning on going to the South Coast Botanic Garden after this very late lunch. A pair of women ordered before us & a couple with a 5-MO infant ordered after, yet both were served ahead of us while we waited another 15-mins. before following up with our order. When asked there were other orders ahead of us & placated that it's another 5-mins. when it was another 10. Although my son had a snack at his friends, he was starving/hangry by the time his french toast was served (poor guy). Most diners are happy with their food, but are also dissatisfied with their s-l-o-w service. Not the kind of lunch I would serve him, & the other kids menu options (PB & banana crepe, ham & cheese sandwich) didn't appeal to him; at least there was fresh strawberries & bananas. The baguette barely had any egg, which was probably more to his liking. My omelette was fairly hefty... definitely filling! The potatoes were thinly sliced & nicely baked. It was pretty good, but could be executed better... the base was too watery/diluted saucy. I wished I had a little bit more greens to balance out the heaviness of the omelette & potato gratin. Moderate menu size with moderate price points... just right for this cafe. The dining room is fairly spacious, mostly 2 & 4 seaters, with several tables for outdoor patio dining. There's 1 unisex restroom to the left of the bar, not ideal if the cafe is busy. Not sure if it's because of the location or its menu style, the cafe is only open for breakfast & lunch from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM daily except Mondays when they're closed. They used to open until 4:00 PM on weekdays & 6:00 PM on weekends. Still reeling from COVID-19? I've seen a lot of cafes & breakfast spots shortening their hours after coming back in 2022. Now that our Torrance office has been remodeled, I'm not up here that often. M liked his french toast, but The Crepery Cafe doesn't compete with his fav breakfast place that serves a boatload of pancake & french toast options. After dining with me, he's been vocal about who deserves repeat visits & wanted to score a 3 (meaning maybe we'll come back... meaning I'll need to go without him... LOL). Great when open but they are unreliable. Often closed without notice. We've had crepes here many times last year and the dough is the perfect crepe dough with all the classic filling options. Unfortunately the last three times we have tried to go they have been closed, even though it was during a time that google and yelp say they should be open. I have come here twice and husband has come an additional time on his own. Each time we are seated immediately and only a few tables are full. Menus come relatively quickly or slowly - you never know. They may take a long time to even take your order. But the worst is a solid 45-60 min wait for your food AFTER ordering. Usually a solid 30 minutes after ordering a coffee before it arrives as well. Their coffees are delicious though! Ive had a crepe, a french toast, and pancakes here. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, and in all that time, our waitress never checked on us once - not to refill waters, apologize for the delay, or even acknowledge us. When the food finally arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the Lumberjack Plate, expecting a hearty breakfast, but what I got was laughably small: two sausages shorter than my pinky, two paper-thin strips of bacon, two undersized pieces of French toast, and a handful of barely seasoned potatoes. Let me begin this re-review by asking the question, how long does it take to make bacon and eggs? Answer: at this restaurant over forty-five minutes. I have come to this restaurant many times since they opened. The service is never great -- at least in terms of time, though the staff is always nice. I do not know what is going on today but the time spent to not only order but, more importantly, to have the food delivered is ridiculous. Maybe some staff member did not come in or something like that but that is not the fault of the patrons, that is the fault of the management. We ordered two dishes: a BLT and the classic breakfast, both very easy to create. As I was finally eating I looked at my watch and we had been at the cafe for over an hour. A leisurely breakfast is fine if that is what you are signed up for but we were not. We had places to be. So, this level of service is simply not acceptable. Just a warning. read more

We ordered "The Spicy Omelette" and a vegetarian omelette with egg whites. Both omelettes were really good! Good size portions and their prices are fair. As far as ambiance is concerned, it's an older mom and pop style breakfast/lunch cafe. Nothing fancy at all. However, it's very comfortable and cozy. Our server was super nice and attentive. She found the location and while neither of us had been here before, it was somewhat conveniently located near a hike we did and we both seemed to enjoy not only the location but the service and food too. There is indoor and outdoor seating but we sat inside because the tables outside were already occupied. So, there was no wait to get a table but we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait before we got our food. We were hungry but it was no problem and the time passed by quickly. My original intention was to order a crepe but then I explored the rest of the menu and thought about ordering the Stuffed French Toast. I ultimately ordered the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. It was the perfect amount; I left feeling satisfied. Aside from my company, the highlight of my experience was the vanilla-honey latte.
