You can't be lacking both in quality(flavor) of your product(chai) - as other reviewers have mentioned AND be lacking in service. Firstly , the place is beautiful, feels upscale but it is dark and dreary, doesn't make you feel like you want to stay in there longer than you have to. Secondly, as a new business, smile more(yes I said that), check in on your patrons, engage in conversation instead of walking around and avoiding eye contact with your customers. It is a Rose, Safron, and Cardamom drink, i ordered it half sweet as the bariata said it was really sweet when I asked if it was a sweet drink. I think i would order it again and try it at 75% sweet as it could've been a bit sweeter for me. It is topped w a rode cold foam and a gulab jamun on a skewer. We waited about 20 minutes to get our chai's (no one else was waiting or ordered drinks so it took 20 minutes for TWO teas). We ordered the Kashmiri and cardamom. Once we got the teas we were highly disappointed. Both of them tasted the exact same: watered down black tea. ZERO chai flavor whatsoever. It had more of an earl grey black tea flavor. 3/10. I really like this new cafe. The karak chai is not too sweet and has a good flavor. I appreciate that they offer you a clay cup for hot beverages when dining in instead of assuming you'd like a to-go cup. It's good to see a cafe prioritize environmental consciousness. Though I am happy that we finally have a chai spot, I was a bit disappointed with Chaiwale. The ambiance was nice, I like the vibe and the seating reminded me of Pakistan. But I have to say, even this had a little bit of disappointment as there were crumbs all over the seats. I didn't feel comfortable to be there beyond waiting. Playlist was ok, a little on the louder side. The service was good, but I think there is still some work to be done on that end though as one of the workers spilled our drink while bringing it to where we were sitting. I will also mention, the menu was a bit overwhelming as there was so much to decide between and look up at. As for the drinks - the mango lassi was ok. Very sweet but not what I expected. Cold but very thick. I was hesitant while ordering as I don't usually like very thick lassi and had asked the person taking my order about it. I wish the lassi was thinner and the taste was more pronounced. I also like it when there are little bits of ice in it. Or even at the top. Though that may just be personal preference. I also ordered the rose refresher. It was what I expected: sparkling water with roohafza. There's nothing wrong with that, I think it tastes nice and the nugget ice was nice. But for the price point, I wished there was something more to it. I have yet to try the food/desserts. Overall, needs some work but okay intro to a chai place in this part of Riverside.
