This is a review of the experience and not the food. I never get to try food. I went to the Chak De for breakfast, as Yelp/Google suggested they opened at 8.00 am. I went at 9.00 am, and there was a menu outside. I went in, and no one was there at the restaurant. After standing and yelling "Hello" for 5 minutes, someone came out from the Kitchen. We sat down and went through the menu. While ordering, the server informed us that none of the "Indian Breakfast" items were available because they don't yet have a chef. Went last weekend. Large open space with lots of seating. Food was tasty and didn't seem to add any artificial food colors. Portions were decent and service was good. Inkind app didn't work for payment which is shameful. Per restaurant, issue is with InKind. Not sure when would it be resolved. read more

Service was fantastic and both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes were delicious with the right amount of spice. Terrible experience. It took 15 min to even be greeted at our table. Once we sat down we ordered wine, water, and our food all at once. It took 10 min to get 2 glasses of wine. We had to ask 4 separate times for ice water and didn't get our water until after being there already an hour. After 2 hours of sitting and waiting we never got our food. The hostess brought us a dessert to hold us over but we never even got our entree??? We had to leave and left cash on the table for our drinks. I first tried this place in December during their soft opening. And man, I wasn't disappointed. I'm a bit picky with Indian food since London spoiled me with insanely good Indian food. I tried a few of the traditional dishes and not only were the portions large, but the food was great! I've now frequented this place and my go-to order is the garlic naan, chicken biryani (that's 2 good meals for me) and an extra side of Raita. The servers are from India and it's owned by an Indian family. And they are nice but can still work a bit on catching up with busy nights. As for ambiance, it can get pretty loud in the evenings with live music. So if that's your vibe, go for it. When I want a quiet meal, I order take out and have my meal at home. read more

We had a private event for about 40 people here. At the time of discussing the details for the party, the owners promised that they had held various events here and that everything would go smoothly. On the day of the event, the owners were nowhere to be found. They had a "manager" who really did not know what he was doing. Nothing was set up as far as the food, and we had to ask them several times to put out various appetizers, plates, glasses, utensils, etc. They seemed under staffed and not interested in working. The service was terrible. One of the appetizers barely got served, many of our guests, did not even get to try it. The whole experience seemed disorganized. Bathrooms were also a mess. I don't think this place has experience with large private events. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone hosting a party! read more

A disappointment on several fronts. We've been wanting to try Chak-De for a while and now wish we hadn't bothered. Service was bad, there's no kind way to say it. The server tried his best, but he was managing multiple tables since they had no other wait staff. Our son's meal was entirely missed and we waited an hour before giving up and leaving. Food staggered out in no particular order, one drink came halfway through the meal, and it was clear the server and whoever came to toss things on the table before disappearing into the kitchen didn't understand anything about Indian food. The ambience, if you can call it that, was loud. There was ear-splitting Bollywood music thumping from the adjoining lounge, which made it hard to have a conversation and communicate with the lone server. Lastly, the food was nothing to write home about. Your regular hole-in-the-wall Bay Area Indian restaurant is streets ahead of this place, at half the price. $15 for a small sev puri plate and the same for a vada pav is ridiculous. Maybe clueless non-Indian folks who love "curry" will keep this place going, but we certainly wouldn't recommend Chak-De to any of our friends. read more

On June 11 my party ordered 3 main course. 2 out of 3 food was so salty it's like putting salt on our tongue. I tried to eat bunch of rice to help but the saltiness is too much. The one that is not as salty is actually salty too but eat it with rice and naan is kind of okay. Our party don't want to waste food so decided to take home the food and remake it so it's not too salty. I understand that some time we make mistakes but if all the dishes are this salty that's not mistakes. Chak-De has a wonderful atmosphere with great music and super yummy food. The spices were great and you can moderate the spice level on dishes to your choosing.
