ahhh chalanas.. sunday afternoon hungry as SH!TTT. drove by and saw Brazilian BBQ on the sign, automatically stopped and looked for parking around the area. Waked in and nobody took care of us, but i guess thats how this laid back place is. picked up a plate, added food and moved over to the churrasqueria part of the restaurant. Got 3 cuts of meat and the churrasco was the least tasking one. Not bad but i had better at other places. NOw the pork sausage and the steak (palomilla) is one of the best i had. after paying we got to pick our place to sit. it looks like a home bbq instead of a rest. we ordered a few Brazilian rinks and beer and stayed for 3 hours :) i definetly liked the place. not pricey and not fancy but homelike and delicious.

The meats are always delicious!! The sirloin steak medium rare with a sprinkle of sea salt is mouth watering. Love this hidden gem

I'm so glad I found out about this place! I'll just start by saying that this place reminds me of some Brazilian rest areas that my wife and I passed when we were visiting there, you'd be surprised by the quality of bbq meat that you can get in these places along with good sides. This place is pretty small but has a good amount of tables, a chill ambiance and nice Brazilian music going, you really feel like you're in Brazil, you can go in and take the items in the buffet and bring your plate to get weighed which is one price, then you go to the bbq meat section and make your choices, you can have it medium or a little more cooked, they must sell a lot of meat because they are on skewers being freshly cooked, the meats get weighed at a different prices, to me the prices are reasonable especially with the quality of meat you get, you can pay with credit card or contactless payment but there is 3% discount for paying with cash. You serve yourself and there is no table service. We ate lunch here for less than $25 pp and were full, we loved the meat so much that we even went back to take some home. I will definitely be back here in some time!

I cannot express how amazing the food is at Chalanas. I don't always work in Mount Vernon but when I do, I almost always try to make my way here. They offer a nice salad bar with multiple rice and bean options, but the magic is at the meat cooker. Chalanas offers a large variety of steak, ribs, sausages and chicken (so there is something for everyone). My favorite? Hands down the skirt steak! Staff will help pick the correct cook you request and will cut the meat up prior to it going on your plate, which I like. Although I must warn you - the meat is somewhat salty, but it just adds to the flavor (treat yourself, its fine). They price the buffet out by weight so be careful, you can easily fill your dish up to the brim with all of the options. Give Chalanas a shot, I am sure you will enjoy it, highly recommend!

Great Brazilian BBQ.. Variety of meats, pork, poultry, beef. Some wrapped in bacon. A carnivorous treat indeed. The only tip I can give, they weigh your plate , which is how you are charged. It adds up quickly. I recommend.

Been coming here to Chalana's for years but first time leaving a review. Whether it's the sausage, skirt steak, or bacon wrapped chicken, the food is always on point here. There's also enough variety at the buffet bar to make a solid meal on its own with chicarron, chicken chunks, rice and beans and an assortment of salads. One tip: you're paying by weight, and its can add up quickly. On average, I spend around $12-$15 for myself without a drink. Just a heads up for those like me that tend to have eyes bigger than your stomach.

I simply love this place: meat just melts in your mouth, caipirinha are strong and decision, staff is friendly, authentic Brazilian atmosphere, more than reasonable prices - what can you ask more?!

This review is based on my third visit to Texas De Brazil in Yonkers. The main feature, which are…read morethe grilled meats, are generally very good, although the parmesan crusted pork loin was very dry this time around. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Where I was disappointed this time was with the salad bar, which used to have a mind-numbing variety of items and could have easily been a feast by itself. I also liked that they had various sauces and garnishes at the salad bar for your steak. This time I had to ask for some chimichurri sauce from our server. Clearly, they have cut way back on the salad bar offerings but to be fair, we went quite early on a Sunday evening, so perhaps our timing had something to do with that. This is a moderately expensive restaurant and it is a long drive for us, so I'm not sure we'll return.

I very much have always loved the experience of Texas de Brazil…read more I love the cheesy bread, the salad bar and tried a really yummy Brazilian soda this time around. At the salad bar, I got some cheese, prosciutto, rice, potato salad, green beans, asparagus and potatoes au gratin. The only thing I found worth getting again was the potato salad but I didn't even need it because the mashed potatoes they bring out were enough for me, they're pretty good. I didn't like how the vegetables were all cold. The potatoes au gratin were warm but weren't good in my opinion but I was here for the steak so let's get to it: Picanha top sirloin - fire honestly, my favorite. Perfectly cooked. No notes whatsoever. This heavily weighed my rating. Tri tip - Pretty good taste, could've been more rare in my opinion. Flank - Okay, a little tougher than I was expecting. Garlic steak - Tough, not garlicky enough, overdone :/ not good. Barbeque ribs - Alot of cartilage, flavor was fine, not my favorite especially when there's steak involved. Bacon-wrapped filet - it was first brought out well done so I asked if they had it more rare. The server was nice enough to put in a medium rare request for me! He came back in about 5-10 minutes and it was more medium than rare (he asked me if it was alright and I lied because I didn't want to cause more stress so that's on me lol) I will say that it was definitely more rare than that first one and was more tender than the garlic steak but it fully absorbed the bacon flavor and it was a bit too much for me to enjoy. Other notes: I avoided the chicken because I remembered that it tends to be dry and I was right based on my family's reactions. I'm not a huge fan of sausage but my brother did have three of them so they're probably good lmao. The bananas are a good palate cleanser for in between and after. Since my birthday is coming up, I got a piece of the banana's foster pie and it was good! Just could do without the nuts inside personally. I would try something else next time probably. I think overall, Texas de Brazil is a bit hit or miss but I do enjoy the experience of trying and comparing different cuts, and there are some really good ones that make it worth it especially when I've been to expensive steakhouses that definitely don't have anything as good as that amazing picanha steak.

Bad, bad, very bad…read more I am laid back when it comes to service at restaurants -- but there is one thing I cannot abide: dishonesty. There are a few other Yelp reviews that mention overcharging. We can corroborate those complaints. The Pardner ordered chicken tacos, which were listed on the menu as $12 (or $9 if the restaurant had honored the happy hour menu). Instead, we were charged $22 for shrimp tacos -- and this is after the Pardner specifically mentioned that he was NOT ordering shrimp tacos as he does not eat shrimp. When we politely brought this to the wait staff's attention, they denied that there had been an overcharge. Since the card had already been run, we didn't make a scene of it. But fellow Yelpers be warned: ******* THIS IS NOT AN HONEST ESTABLISHMENT. ******* Tacos were made with flour tortillas, more lettuce than chicken, and quite unlike what you'd find in Mexico. Supposedly Peruvian ceviche was not that. It lacked much acid or heat, and the usual accompaniments (e.g. cancha, sweet potato). The leche de tigre had a touch of a prefabricated something that unfortunately recalled Mr. T's bloody Mary mix. Meals out should be fun; they should not make you sad. This place just made me very, very sad. I would strongly recommend that others avoid.
