So I came here with my two kids and one of their friends who was with us because we were leaving our Airbnb and wanted to try something new so we came here. The ambiance is nice, very cultured, the service wasn't mean at all but certainly not the most customer service oriented. So my daughters friend just had 2 empanadas, my daughter had one empanada and a plate of meat with beans rice n an eggs that literally looked like something I could have made at home (priced at $16) and my son had the pabellon arepa and I had a pernil Cachapas. The kids all had a passion fruit juice and I had a sugar cane juice with lemon. My kids liked their food and I loved my cachapa it was delicious, but my juice just tasted like a lemon iced tea and then I got 5 small chocolate things for dessert at the counter when we checked out, tell me why my bill was $109! In my personal opinion everything is waaaay to overpriced for what you get. I don't think we will be coming here again. read more

My Family and i went here to dine for mothers day. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:45 and left at 8 pm and we never received our entrees. The food we did try was decent tostones were old and super thin, you could tell by their hard texture. They never gave us silverware until we asked. After our apps were cleared we waited and a server kept coming up to us to check on us and they kept telling us the kitchen refused to make our meal. I wanted something different and my coworker mentioned a place she tried the day before. It is definitely different and what I was in the mood for so "Arepa Mania" was on the menu. It's a small restaurant with lots of energy. The restaurant itself was clean and modern. They had digital boards promoting there new location and menu items. We were greeted by a wonderful young lady. She laughed and joked with us about how good my Spanish was. Once we ordered, we sat down and waited. Another employee came over and told us they were in business for six years and were excited about there new location. We took cards and wished them luck. When the empanadas came out, there was a bit of a hiccup, but they got things right and we left with our lunch. When I say this I mean this with respect, when I took the first bite I knew it was different. The taste stood out, in a good way. The outside was made of cornmeal and not tortilla. This gave the empanada a unique taste and it worked. I was insanely sold! They gave two different sauces as well. They two were delicious. I didn't know which I like dipping in more. They have the most amazing lunch specials which are very nutritious and well portioned for a hard working person or someone who is looking to get in good shape. The grilled chicken, black beans rice and plantain combo always hits home for me. For those of you who want to be a bit more adventurous, you should try the patacon. I personally am a big fan of the vegetarian one, which but you can't go wrong with any of them. If this store were to just sell one thing though, it would be the cachapa. Wow! Is this a dessert? I've been to Arepa Mania a handful of times since it opened and it never disappoints. I was there this past weekend again and was waited on by the owner. It's a small place and I believe it's family run. Every one is friendly and service is great This time I had an Arepa stuffed with pernil,which is slow roasted pork. It also had black beans and cheese in it. It was outstanding. The pork was tender and perfectly seasoned. I also had an empanada stuffed with beef,delicious. Got the Arepa De Pabellon and the Tequenos, which were filling and pretty tasty. On yelp there was an offer that if you checked in to this location you would be able to get 20% off your order. The employee did not know how to do this and said we have to order through seamless. She said her boss did not train her on this which was very inconvenient. What we got: -Hamburguesa de Carne $8.50 (Beef, lettuce, tomato, bacon, ham, egg, American cheese, chips, ketchup, mayo, garlic sauce, mustard with a side of French fries.): So good! Highly recommended! Everything went really well together. Very heavy though. They serve soggy crinkle cut fries, but that might be because it was delivery. Not sure what the "chips" ingredient refers to. The menu selection was good had your typical Venezuelan dishes and appetizers. I was happy to the arepas were baked and not fried. Arepas were nice size and tasty. I would definitely go back. Listen, more and more Venezuelan restaurants are popping up in the North East and many are just half good. But this little eatery in New Rochelle it's one that takes my 5 stars. As soon as we came in the place was booming with business on the phone and via Uber eats. I had empanadas which looked very similars to the ones I had in Venezuela, their taste where off the hook, texture and ingredients were just right. From a Venezuelan perspective this food is amazing. The service is good and the people are Venezuelan so they know what they are doing. I always come for cachapas with Venezuelan cheese, the batter is amazing! How it is supposed to be! The tequeños are really nice too. Highly recommended. Clean place and friendly service, but the prices are high for what it is. The reina peplada (shredded chicken with mayo and avocado) was good, as was the arepa de pabellon (shredded beef, black beans, avocado and cheese), but the pabellon had way too much cheese, which actually kind of ruined it for me. I've had many arepas in my life, and I've never seen one loaded with cheese like this. Also, we got two sodas with our to-go order and we opened them in the car....It seems that they were cool to the touch, but hot when we opened them, which caused the soda overflowed onto our laps and clothing. I wouldn't say not to try it, but if I come back, I'd probably skip the arepa and get the platter, because the beans and beef were actually flavorful. An unassuming little spot you would likely miss along North Ave in New Rochelle. Stopped in to get a bite to eat for my little one and decided to stay bc the food looked so good. Tried the carne mechada cachapa, which is basically a sandwich made out of a sweet corn pancake slathered with butter, a mild mozzarella type cheese, and seasoned shredded beef. Eat that sucker with a fork and knife. It is a meal on its own. Very filling and oh so yummy. The husband got a pabellon plate which is black beans with white rice, a fried egg, shredded beef and sweet plantains. And my son ordered a roast pork pepito, which is a Venezuelan hero. I also tried an arepa filled with black beans and cheese, called the domino. I am pretty much going to tell everyone I know about this place and come back for seconds, thirds, fourths...
