This is a very classic diner. Even the menu font and layout resembles that of other diners in the area. It has all the staples you'd want, including breakfast all day. They have booth and table seating, as well as additional tables outside. Our booth wasn't the cleanest, with crumbs from the previous party still on the seat. To eat, I got the tex-mex omelette, which came with home fries and toast. The toast could've had a little more butter. I asked for the home fries to be made extra crispy, but they were very mushy. They were seasoned though, which I appreciated. I enjoyed the omelette, which had a nice mix of ingredients but was a bit of a small portion size and light on the avocado. My husband got a quesadilla and enjoyed it. Our waiter was not super attentive and it was hard to get water refills. Overall, a decent meal, but I wouldn't come here with expectations too high. read more

You should definitely believe the reviews ... Stopped here to get a quick bite to eat. I ordered coffee (which is on the menu) and they said they didn't have any. I asked my server what their soup of the day was - and she said chicken orzo and lobster bisque but didn't know if either one was good. The lobster bisque was definitely microwaved and gross. It was cold it parts and then overly microwaved on the edges. Not great. The mozzarella cheese sticks were good - I definitely wouldn't get soup here, again. Pelham Cafe is a cute diner in the middle of pelham- a classic, cozy place where everyone is rushing around and you're always surrounded by families and children. The food is good- nothing amazing, but good, classic diner food. They do mexican-inspired food well, like huevos rancheros and the Chilaquilles. The Chilaquilles are nice and spicy, eggs were well crisped, and the chips were thick and crunchy- perfect! The potatoes their omelettes come with are also nicely spiced and have bell peppers in them that give a nice kick. Their pancakes and omelettes always hit the spot if that's what you're craving. Ordered breakfast this weekend through DoorDash. We've been meaning to try this place for ages and finally decided to just order from here. Honestly, I was not at all impressed with the food. First of all, not sure if it was the drivers fault, or the person who packaged our food, but they placed the coffee in the bag, on top of all the food, and the coffee spilled everywhere. Our side order of bacon was drenched in coffee. We ordered two omelettes and the presentation was sloppy. Their home fries had a funny after taste to them, not to mention that all the food had a specific after taste to it- like they do not clean the grill or something . Also, they forgot to add cheese to one of the omelettes and I also specifically requested wheat toast instead of white- we got white. Even though our bacon was drenched in coffee we ate it anyway. The bacon was probably the only tasty part of our meal. The coffee was not bad either, but again they did not follow my request for it to be made a certain way. Not to mention that whoever packed it, or the driver, spilled half the coffee anyway. Additionally, we ordered a waffle. I didn't even try it in the end cause at that point I was so disappointed in everything. My husband ate half of it and said it was just ok. Will probably not order from them again. It's a shame because it is one of the very few sit down breakfast places in the area. If we liked it we would have made this place our weekend breakfast spot, but it turned out to be a fail. I know that ordering take out from a place, for the first time specifically, can be a hit or miss, especially if your order is not packaged right and/or if you have a careless driver delivering your food. All of this would have been overlooked in this case, but the fact that the food, especially the home fires, had a funny taste to it, made me think twice of ever giving this place another chance. read more

I have been here (when the owner was here,) and had delicious chilaquiles. When he's not here . . . I ordered fried eggs and cheddar cheese on a roll. The waiter, instead of going to the counter to speak to the cook, was YELLING between singing at the top of his lungs. Not quite ready for mariachi before my coffee! I am not fluent in Spanish, but I did notice he ordered 'con queso' but didn't hear cheddar. I called him over to remind him. He was looking at his phone as I spoke to him but responded "I know." Then proceeded to go yell CHEDDAR to the cook. The scrambled egg and cheddar sandwich was fine, just not what I ordered. I had to track him down to get a coffee refill. (Their coffee is delicious.) STILL on his phone when I asked for the check. The owner here is so nice and very attentive to detail. It's a pity he doesn't hire staff to provide a similar standard in his absence. read more

Then I see that my account was charged for the meal after a few hours later. I got takeout today from Pelham Cafe for breakfast. I got the huevos oaxaquenos, the breakfast burrito, an egg wrap with irish bacon & cheddar, and a cranberry yogurt muffin. All of the breakfast items came with a generous portion of rancid hash browns. We had to just throw that in the garbage right away. It has been hot weather the last couple of days. Maybe something wasn't refrigerated properly. The huevos oaxaquenos dish was good. The breakfast burrito was a big disappointment. It was flavorless & had no spiciness. The eggs they used were dry & overcooked. It had some ham in it, but it could have used some of the chorizo that the oaxaquenos had. The guacamole inside was hot. Maybe they should have just provided some cold guacamole on the side instead. There was a miniscule amount of salsa in it, but not enough & they didn't provide any on the side. I ended up adding some that I had at home. The egg wrap with irish bacon & cheddar was good, but it could have used some tomato to balance out the flavor. The muffin was good. In summary, even though the huevos oaxaquenos & the muffin were good, the rancid hash browns on every plate prompt me to give them only one star. read more

Very good place to eat. Family friendly. Parking can be a challenge because they don't have a parking lot, only on street parking. Food is good and consistent. Prices is OK. The owner is amazing, staff as well. Seating is quick and the food comes out pretty fast. Best time to go is in the morning during the week, but it can get busy for lunch. Usually with people coming to pick up their lunch orders. They close pretty early between 6:30 and 7. I would highly recommend this diner. read more

I live nearby ... and I have eaten here many times -- on my days off from work. I am usually alone ... but on a couple of weekend days, I have also eaten here with my Mom and my Sister (they live in Connecticut). This past summer (on a very hot day) I also came here with my 2 year old grand-daughter, who I was babysitting. The service is always quick and professional. Overall it is really very good. The food is fresh and tasty, no mater what I have ordered. I recently had "Huevos Oaxaquenos" (I hope I spelled this correctly) -- and it was delicious! I had never ordered a Mexican breakfast dish, and I'm glad I tried this! I let the waitress and owner know how much I had enjoyed it, too. I highly recommend this diner to anyone. read more

We discovered this gem while house hunting in Pelham this past weekend, and it provided us a place to grab a quick bite and rest our tired feet. The one thing I would have liked to see different/improved is the ambience. Somewhat dated and could use a refresh in terms of paint and furniture. This is not a cafe, it's a diner. and I'm generally pretty ho-hum about diners, unless there is history/nostalgia (Summit Diner in NJ) or one dish that truly defines the restaurant (Lefetris in Tarrytown for Gyros or Broadway diner in Short Hills for pancakes.) Nothing really wrong with Pelham "Cafe" just nothing stands out. No decor, no chef special (that's truly a chef special) and for the love of God can i find ONE restaurant in America that can make an omelet without browning the eggs!? Would much rather have seen a crunchy little breakfast place like you'd find in the village open up in this space. They could serve10 different kinds of breakfast burritos, offer complex coffees, clever sandwich combinations for lunch. A little noisy, very fun...perfect for families, couples and a place to chill in the winter when it's snowing out. Another diner with red booths that the only thing worth ordering are turkey club sandwiches, tuna melts and burgers? Might as well go to a bar for that, at least i can get a beer. read more
