Our 15 and 19 year old kids even had fun. The rooms we went through were perfectly lit, i wore the Fedora hat and felt like Indiana Jones. Had a blast! I have done 10 or so escape rooms nationwide since the trend reached the States and Chambers in Honolulu is one of my favorites for sure! I've also tried Breakout and the Nimitz location escape room. Think of it as your new age escape room! I tried both the live action and the VR version. Live Action: The motion sensors and the set is first class and very well done. I appreciated less mathematical puzzles and more interactive challenges. There aren't as many "locks" you have to go through which makes it more fun in my opinion! VR: First time ever trying a VR escape room and it was awesome! No dizziness or any side effects with wearing the gear and the special effects were pretty cool. It's definitely an entertaining way to spend a day or night with friends! Booking: Super easy, promo codes online, they run specials every now and then. Parking: A breeze! Lots of street parking, no one in our group had issues. Great setup and immersion into the story of a lost Egyptian tomb. Puzzles were good and solutions often triggered an event as awards with new hints and clues to go forward. Dim lighting set the mood along with two provided old lanterns. Fun to play with an Egyptian atmosphere . There's even sand in the entrance room as we venture into the tomb. read more

my sister, bro-in-law, niece and i did the live action room, "The Temple", and were blown away by the Indiana Jones-like experience! it was way more fun than just figuring out combinations to locks (like the other escape room i did), you feel like you're actually trapped in a temple with realistic rooms, props, lighting and sound effects! when you complete puzzles something will light up or a compartment will fly open to lead you to the next puzzle, which i thought was super cool. the game master was also calm and helpful (even though we were like chickens running around without our heads at times)! we went on a sunday for free and ample street parking. look for the sign (a banner) on the building and go up to the second floor, it's the first door on the right. if you do escape, they give you all an "escape" sticker and even email a group photo, which is a nice touch :) disclaimer: my friend won a free VR game at first but we weren't wowed by the experience (mostly user error, haha), so the owner offered us a second round on the house to make up for it (i got the game and opted for the live room instead). you can totally tell they listen to your feedback and care that you leave satisfied, and i really respect that. please check them out! read more

I have done several regular escape rooms all over, but this was my first time doing a VR escape room. I completed 2 VR rooms at Chambers - Dragon Tower and Space Station Tiberia I absolutely LOVED Dragon Tower, but I thought Space Station SUCKED- Wasn't a huge VR fan til I tried these rooms, I'm glad I checked it out. Nobody in my party got motion sickness, so if that's somethin you worry about, you will prob be fine Dragon Tower was essentially 3 rooms/scenarios/scenes. Took a bit of time to get used to the VR set up and figuring out how things work in the game. I loved the setting tho, I played lots of World of Warcraft as a kiddo and really felt like I was actually in this fantasy world!! Highly recommend if you are nerd like that. The end scenario was lots of fun and give you adrenaline rush however in comparison, the Space Station Tiberia was sucky!! it was soooo short. it only had 2 rooms/scenes. so I think that was not cool because it costs $45 a person !! and the website says its a 45 min experience, but when we got in there the timer was set at like 35 mins?? and Also it only took us like less than 20 mins to solve it. and it didnt really feel so much like an escape room, but more just like a mission/quest type thing. like with dragon tower, you actually had to acquire keys to unlock a door, but Space station you just like pick up things and place them in areas and things happen. idk not very escapey to me. I think for the price it was pretty disappointing! if you want to have the experience of VR, then definitely do Dragon Tower but pass on Space station The location is kind of hard to find, its in random building - go up the stairs, at top of stairs look for the black door with C logo on it. they should have it more clearly marked. My cousins and I are OBSESSED with escape rooms, so even on our Hawaii vacation we knew we had to find out how the islanders like to escape. Chambers did not disappoint! Our group of 8 did the live Temple game and loved it. The difficulty was just right (medium), with enough puzzles and types to keep the group challenged and busy without feeling repetitive or like busy work. Speaking of busy work, Chambers gets rid of much of it by minimizing the time you spend digging in every corner for a scrap of paper in favor of an immersive experience where the clues are found quickly so you can get to solving your way to the end. What else is good here? The attention to detail and story. It's a great narrative experience using a blend of tech, practical effects, and overall production value that you don't often find at these places. Our group of 8 had a great time, and set a new record while we were at it! If you're wondering, we are a fairly experienced group, with our least experienced player having done 4 rooms under her belt, and our most with around 18. Definitely check them out! read more

I must say this is so much more fun than break outs! Definitely challenging but thanks to Josh for hooking it up with the hints. Located the street behind Queen St in downtown HNL. We got lucky because it was a state holiday so there were a lot of street parking other than that, I would book a room after 6pm when street parking is free. To book a room you can just call in, they don't take deposits unlike escape rooms so really convenient. $35 kamaaina rate and $45 for out of state. They also tack on an addl' 15% for groups. We had so much fun! It was definitely difficult enough to keep us guessing, but we were lucky enough to escape! We had five in our group and none of us felt like we were left out or there wasn't enough to do. There was great sound effects and lighting. We had to solve really cool puzzles and had codes to figure out. We had to use clues from the walls, clues found in locked chests and things in the room to solve each problem to keep going. I'm not going to try to pretend like we solved everything by ourselves because our guide gave us a hint or two because we almost didn't make it out at the end. She doesn't have to help you though, so you can try to get everything all by yourself. I'm definitely going to be trying out their virtual experience after trying out the tomb today. read more

I've done at least 15 different escape rooms in my life. (Some from the same company and most in Hawaii.) But this honestly became my favorite escape room. I started writing this yelp review after I did the live escape room, but I wasn't able to finish it. And now I did the VR escape room the other day.... (and I already booked a second VR escape room for this weekend..) And yes. This is still my favorite escape room. What I loved most about their live escape room (which is just like other escape rooms... BUT SO MUCH BETTER) is that you're less focused on finding objects, but more on actually solving puzzles. Everything is easy to find and access, but it's more about actually working on how to solve the puzzle. The cool effects and room itself was also incredible. (We did The Temple) As for the VR, it was also such a fun experience. I've never tried VR before and I thought it would make me dizzy, but it wasn't bad at all. The guy in charge of our group made funny supporting comments here and there and it made our experience that much better. I'm sorry I don't remember your name! ESCAPETHEROOMers third stop in Honolulu, Hawaii in April 2019 was at the Chambers Escape Games. There's a parking lot to the left of their location which is actually cheaper than paying the street meter. They are located on the 2nd floor with stairs and elevator access. In terms of size, this is the largest escape room location we've been to in Hawaii. Once you enter the lobby, you are already feel like you are being prepared for an incredible adventure. The Anubis, Ancient Guardians of the temple awaits for your arrival. The owner also cleverly built a wall with lego bricks so remember to check that out! As we walked with the owner down the hallway to a black door, we were shocked at what we saw when the door opened. The surround sound music system and the perfect balance of the light ambience of the room felt like we were instantly teleported deep within an ancient temple. There's real sand, concrete slab doors, and very well-made artifacts pieces for game play. This game incorporated a good mixture of physical key locks and magnetic locks. The game flow was great and there were no red herrings whatsoever. There's a good balance of brain and physical exercise which we rarely see in a game. This escape room focused a lot on an immersive feel for the player and also storytelling. We felt like the production value was definitely "Disney World ride" like. As we completed the game with some time left on the clock, the victory music made us feel like heroes. We were quite sad to be transported back to the real world again. They also have VR games at this location. This is our first VR escape room experience ever and we loved it! We tried the ocean themed VR experience called "Depths of Osiris". In this mission you are in a submarine underwater and have to retrieve the lost crown. You'll need to be there a bit earlier as you'll need to be strapped in with a backpack, VR glasses, headphone and gloves (joysticks). Chambers' VR is wireless and you can all be in one VR box while playing. Having no wires allows you to move without the entanglement issue but you may bump into each other if you saw an item together and want to retrieve it at the same time. You'll be given clear instructions on where to stay and where not to go. We are happy to report there was no physical injury during the game. As the game started, we were transported into a submarine and you can see the fishes swimming around you. The attention to detail is quite impressive in the VR world. We had to utilize a lot of different movements like turning and tossing in the game but there was no motion sickness at all! The game play is around 30-40 minutes and we are happy to report we successfully completed it! We also took a sneak peak at the "Space Station Tiberia" and "Dragon Tower" games. For the space mission, you felt like you were in zero gravity and if you won't have a chance to go to the moon in your life time, this is the closest it's going to get! For Game of Throne fans, ever wanted to slay that dragon? This is your chance in the "Dragon Tower". Just make sure you are not afraid of being attacked by fire and ice breathing dragons and most importantly, have a strong back and knees for loading those arrows!!! This was great fun and definitely different from other escape games! We did the Temple, which was so fun with the 6 of us. I like how there was a story line, which continues as you play. It passed by really quickly and i loved how it was not all combination locks. It was great how the owners follow you to give the story and also be there for hints instead of shouting for someone. Today, my brother, cousins, and I went back to Chambers to bang out the last 2 VR escape rooms to get on the game masters wall. The first one we did was Space Station Tiberia. We had to destroy the meteor before it hit us. We started off inside the space station and then went outside. This one was fun and we had some good laughs on the second stage. We finished pretty early. Sooooooo, our awesome game master let us try a new escape room which is called Time Warp. We were the second group to try this one and we completed our mission with about 6-7 mins to spare. This one is challenging but the last stage was hilarious. Most of the time, we had hamajang (messed up) fingers. Lol. (You'll understand if you do it) For this one, you need a team that has good communication. After, we had a little bathroom break, so the boys got to play an arcade game while we were gone. Then, we were ready to do Dragon Quest. We started off in a cage on top of the tower, then went to the alchemist lab, and for the last stage, we went outside to defeat the dragons. Again, we had some great laughs. Our favorite part was the alchemist lab. We had to make potions to get the keys. We made it out of this one as well. We are now officially on the game master wall. Red or blue pill? Our group of 4 popped the red and down the rabbit hole we went. We selected the VR Dragon Room. As soon as the game helmets were put on us, we were fully immersed in a 3D lifelike world unlike anything ever seen before. We were tapped into the Matrix and had 45 minutes to free ourselves by solving clues and working together. You are seriously not ready for the experience you are about to have. Everything was so surreal and lifelike, the experience was fully interactive. What an adventure! Just book and go, they walk you through everything. Right now they have 3 VR games to choose from and I'm sure will be ever expanding so your experiences will always be unique. Definitely the best room escape game on the island. Our guide was an absolute sweetheart (Alexis?) and very helpful to our group. We went to Chambers escape for my daughters belated birthday party with her closest friends. We've had a pretty hard month (her birthday was on 22 Feb), because of an emergency and her original celebration was cancelled. We pushed her second party to today and decided to do Chambers Live Action Room. My friend Kat and I have never done an escape room and I'm so stoked that our first experience was pretty kick ass. My husband did a few of these back on the mainland and said this was more elaborate and enjoyed the fear factor aspect. I wanted to do a live one for my first time and glad I went with the temple one. Me and my husband are horror fans and the temple escape room had a lot of jump scares and had that eerie vibe that I loved. Our guide jax was super funny and awesome. Our guide was in the room with us but she was very distant and kept out of our way, but was also available giving us enough to nudge us in the right direction. It did get a little hot in the room with us moving around, so maybe dress in shorts and a shirt. Above all, Ron the business owner was really kind and was attentive with our questions. I've never had a business where if we never got an answer, they text and correspond back. I think the customer service and layout of the business was professional and memorable. We did The Temple live action room and let me first say, I was a little skeptical being that this is the newest escape room on island to open. But boy, was I wrong! This was hands down one of the best, most immersive escape rooms I've ever experienced. If you've ever done some of the rooms on the mainland (like The Escape Game Minneapolis) you won't be disappointed. Decided to celebrate my 11 year old's birthday here at Chambers. They were wonderful. We did the live escape room that had an Egyptian / Indiana Jones theme to it. We had the average 60 minutes to find clues, and figure our way out. There were some surprises through out the game that really held our attention easily. To the creators of the fame, BRAVO ! It was so much fun. Our instructor was KEITH. He was amazing. He was super professional, easy going, very informative and just added to the overall fun of things. They also have virtual reality games. We didn't try it this time but we will definitely be back to try do it in the future ! When we went, the prices were SUPER affordable for both live and VR experiences (especially during these corona times) so I would take advantage of it ! They are really clean and do take the necessary safety precautions. Be sure to wear your mask when you go. No mask, No service. I would recommend this place to everyone.
