The atmosphere is casual, but the place is outfitted with very nice decor and fixtures. Feels like a more upscale space but it is still a nice casual neighborhood eatery. Drinks were great and the food was even better. My daughter finished her cheeseburger before I was even halfway through my meal. I had the steak frites and OMG. I ate every single bite. I'm usually not much of a gin fan but theirs was exceptionally smooth and I actually enjoyed it. Amaro tends to be quite bitter but their Amaro Peach had a really nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. I ordered the Ocean Eyes cocktail which features their Amaro Peach and it was excellent. The bartender also made his own special version of a classic cocktail for my husband (I forgot the name!) and he really enjoyed it. What stood out most was how friendly and passionate the bartender was. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and honestly, he made the experience even more enjoyable for us. They provided an order number stand, we grabbed our beers and headed outside to a high-top table made from a barrel. The food came out surprisingly fast--they brought our trays right to the table. Deliciously chewy noodles, though you do need to swish it and break it apart in the broth a bit before you dig in, which means the ball of noodles were lying around before they dunked broth on it. No big deal, just that actual restaurants usually give it to you fairly fresher. The broth is also not as "beefy" as some restaurants, but it'll hit the spot if you're craving it. They also give you some thick slices of beef, but overall low on the protein, which is the norm for this dish. Soondae: I was a little thrown off when I didn't see any seasoned salt on the side, but overall it was okay. Not the best I've had, but it's garlicky and will still hit your soondae craving. Overall, I'd say it's okay. BUT it's in a food court, the food comes out fairly quickly, and the ahjummas are nice and efficient. Let's bump it up a star because I know I'm not at an actual sit down restaurant. Solid joint for being in a grocery store.
