Decided to try something new that was on my Tango Tab app and this was a nice surprise! Friend and I both enjoyed our dishes which were very variations of the chicken curry,, rice, samosas, garlic Naan, and a spinach dish. All very good and the prices are phenomenal! read more

Delicious affordable Indian food. Great portion sizes and value for money. Just as good as the more "established" and "atmospheric" joints that charge way too much for simple, classic Indian dishes. Chameli really hits the spot. Every-time I go, I've always been impressed with the quality of food and service. As a college student, each dish reminds me of the home cooked style that I love so much and the flavor is nothing short of phenomenal. This restaurant prepares everything fresh, nothing is frozen and the taste says it all. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to fill there stomachs with a good meal. The different biryani choices are probably my favorite (chicken especially) but I can never get sick of getting one of their wraps to go when I'm in a hurry. Really good Indian food with an asian flair. It is definitely good food for a low price and the portions really fill you up. Its better to go with a group to sample more things at one time. I am originally from the UK, my parents are Jamaican and during my time in England my parents rented an Apartment upstairs to an Indian family from Durban, South Africa. So I grew up eating a lot of home made Indian food, well seasoned and spicy food, and that is where I developed my taste for Biryani. Chameli is by far the best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant that I have been to in the DFW area. My favorites are the Chicken Biryani...and they do an awesome Vegetarian Biryani. Their Karai (curry type) dishes are pretty good too although their curries are a little different from the Jamaican versions that we make at home. It has reached the point that if I feel for a Curry dish I go to Chameli, and pass up on the many Caribbean restaurants that are opening in Dallas. No I am not ashamed of my Jamaican roots, our food is heavily influenced by Indian African and Chinese Cuisine, it's just a question of quality and value for money. Many Caribbean Restaurants in Dallas often charge twice as much for a Curry that does not taste half as good. The service at Chameli is good, the place is well kept, well run and it is a pleasure to go there- they are definitely on my favorite list of places to eat. Fish curry is the best, the Biryani is good but not super authentic however it is very close. All he prices are very reasonable. They have a very good samosa as well. Me and my wife come here regulars and enjoy it very much. In fact we come at least once a week. I would recommend to anyone who likes Indian cuisine to try this place. This is absolutely the WORST food ever. Its one thing to sell bad-tasting food, quite another to sell ROTTEN food. Twice, we bought biryani from here which went bad within an hour (even after refrigeration). Its quite obvious these guys are selling substandard meet which is definitely not fresh. For a place that calls itself a Biryani restaurant, their Biryana was extremely bland and lacking... and this was after we specifically asked for "spicy". The Butter Chicken was tasty, but the Beef Curry again lacked the flavor we were seeking. The worst of it was their version of Palak Paneer... unlike ANY I have ever had... more onions that spinach... very odd. You're better off walking across the street in Indo-Pak... getting better food and a lot more for your dollar. read more

Food is not worth the money. She looks like she uses cheap stuff to prepare her food. The hosts would bring the food to some tables and would discriminate others by asking them to come and get their own food. Mostly from what I observed the white folks got their food brought to the table while other folks had to go pick their food. Absolutely terrible. If u r craving Biryani go to Indo Pak opposite to it or go to Masala Wok in Richardson where you cannot be disappointed. Avoid at all costs. read more

My husband is from bangladesh and craves this place every weekend. He says it is authentic and really close to what they make back home! I love the food too..not too greasy and just right. I visit this restaurant because it's close to my residence. The biriyani tastes average and I would call it "tomato rice" instead of biriyani because it does not have enough spices or flavor to call it biriyani!!! Like most people, I visit because of the affordable price. But after my recent experience, I believe quality is more important than price. I got biriyani today and the rice was under cooked. At least overcooked rice would be edible, but under cooked rice is definitely not edible. It would have been nice if the chef had spent a minute tasting the food, before serving it to customers. Also their samosas are always horrible with lumps of potato and no spices. It you would like to eat authentic and delicious Indian food, please don't visit this restaurant because it's a complete disappointment. read more

Not a big fan at all. The restaurant was quite small, which is fine but there is a large lack of quality in the food. I got the butter chicken, which initially didn't quite taste like butter chicken but it was fine. I am quite disappointed that rice was not complimentary of dishes, but as side I got the garlic naan which was also disappointing. The naan was quite thick and chewy. Some parts didn't even taste garlicky and pairing with the butter chicken sauce had the resemblance of eating pizza due to the rough chewy texture of the naan. Also, the chicken inside the sauce tasted as if, and probably is, just chicken breast boiled in water, cut up and put into sauce. It was flavorless. I understand that the restaurant is not expensive, but I also don't feel that I got my money's worth. I would've been better off buying a microwave pizza. read more

This place has really great food. I've had chicken biryani, chicken korma, butter chicken and beef kabobs. All were very tasty. The butter chicken was really good not only because of the sauce, but because the chicken chunks were good quality without bones. The guy next to me once ordered the chicken tandoori which looked very good as well. If you order something here (such as chicken tandoori or beef kabobs) which isn't mainly sauce , then you typically get a side salad which is pretty good too. Also the vegetable samosas are very good, especially the potato ones. I should let you know however the to-go portions are significantly smaller than the dine-in portions. My only other nitpick is that an order of naan only consists of one piece. Typically I expect at least two pieces of naan per order. read more

I tried this place twice. Once during lunch and once at 2:30am. The lunch special i got was the boneless chicken biryani and it was very good and the portion was large. The thing that is lacking in the DFW area is the street food style over rice bowls. The fact that it is only available 11pm-3am is inconvenient. I finally was able to get the lamb/beef over rice tonight around 2:30am. It is a disappointment compared to Halal Bros in Austin, TX. The meat portion was lacking and looked like it was sitting on the side for hours. The overall taste was bland compared to what I have previously had in Austin. If Chameli wants to gain more customers at that time of night, they need to strive for a product similar to Halas Bros. The lamb/beef over rice was decent but it really needs to be improved. I have tried lots of different dishes at Chameli and I love their Shahi Biryani the most. It's authentic Bangladeshi style biryani that you must try. The other dishes are good too and don't miss the desserts, especially the kheer. The price is a little higher than the other restaurants but when the food is really good, it's no big deal. The restaurant is clean, it's usually not very crowded and the service is good. read more

We catered for this for our daughter's birthday. Met the owner, he was very nice. He offered some of his samples. Everything seemed to be great. However, the food we got to our party had a different story. We never experienced chicken roast made up of all chunky drumsticks. Then goat Biriyani was filled with big potatoes. He even forgot to put one item. We were absolutely disappointed with their service. We went to a different party; they also had food from this place. Have to admit, the food was better (average) than ours. So be careful about this place. For us, we will never go back to this place. We felt like the owner just did not pay any attention to our order and screwed us. read more
