All the ladies are very approachable and inviting. They had the haircut price set at $14 for a very long time. A couple of years ago they increased the price to $19. Understandable after COVID and cost of living and operating any business in California, USA. If you call 15 minutes ahead of time they'll put your name on the list, but they Do NOT set appointments. Walk-ins only. Haircut quality is usually about a 3 outta 5. Vibe is 5 outta 5. I love all the ladies there. Very down to earth and friendly. They do hustle to keep it moving, so that extra attention you'll get from a $50 barber shop cut isn't there. I get a zero mid to high fade. You get your moneys worth and it feels like your family there. I usually tip generously $10 on top of $19 for a grand total of $29. I had a very bad experience my previous visit. I ended up writing a 2 star review. The owner responded and apologized. She ask me to come back and try them again. So, with great trepidation I went back. This time I took a photo of the haircut I wanted and showed it to the new stylist. Julie cut my hair perfectly. I was very pleased. Ok, why not a 5 star? I'll get right down to it, because they will not take reservations. Other than that, Champ Cuts is awesome! I have been coming here for a few months now and Bri is my girl! She knows my style and what I need done to my hair. Although they don't take reservations, I have called when I'm ready and put my name on the list and only had to wait no more than 10 minutes before Bri could see me. She does an outstanding job, and, after using her for a few months now, she knows just what to do to make it right. My four year old son has been here too and, although I don't remember who cut his hair, it came out great. So, with that in mind, I am very particular with my hair and who cuts it and I am completely satisfied with Champ Cuts and, especially, Bri. Just stopped in at 5:30pm for a quick cleanup on Thursday October 7. They close at 6. The gal that was there had a terrible attitude. Right after I sat in the chair a lady and her son came in and she sent them away. My haircut took 7 minutes and she was basically snotty the entire time. I usually just hand them a $20 and say thanks. I could not leave with no tip but I hated even leaving her a couple of $$. I have been coming here now for a few months and the only reason is I followed my favorite hair stylist Bri over from great clips. Now that I have been coming here I wish I would've known about this place before. I work in the Lincoln area all the time for work and for the longest time really struggled finding a good place to get my haircut. That is why I continued with the great clips by my house. For years I used to get my hair cut by the same lady every 2 weeks and then out of the blue she was cutting hair no more. Very sad and for almost 1.5 yrs I was bouncing from place and stylist. Then out of the blue I was looking through one of my dear friends Yelp reviews and saw a recommendation for Bri at Great Clips. So trusting her opinion 100% and knowing she cut her son and husbands hair I felt confident about giving this a try. Well the rest is behind us...from awkward first impressions/greetings to trying out new places I am staying at Champ Cuts for as long as Bri is staying. But in the meantime I like the fact that this is a locally owned place and everyone who works here is super friendly. The women in this place are so incredibly rude! I walked in to put my grandpa and uncles name on the list and they spoke to everyone that walked in after me but never addressed me or why I was there! I didn't even get a hello. They took both men that just walk off the street back for a cut and said hello to them and still said nothing to me. Both men said they didn't have appointments and i had been waiting while all three women just stood taking to each other. One man even asked why they where treating me so rude and the ladies still didn't speak to me! The funny part was I was taking my grandpa and uncle in for a cut so not sure why that treated me so bad I wasn't there for a service!!! I know it's a mans place but to treat a women so rude is completely uncalled for!! I will never support a place like this. And I will never be back and I plan on telling everyone about my experience! My grandpa and uncle didn't want to wait in the shop that's why I was putting their name on the list.. I hope the owners address this. Cause they lost my families business!! Been coming here for about a year and it is cool. Julie takes care of me and does a good job. Plus she is fun to talk to. They bumped their prices to 14 for a hair cut but once you find someone you are comfortable with you don't complain about an extra dollar. In my first review I raved about this place but after the last few times of coming in here I had to completely leave and find somebody else to cut my hair. I'm not sure what her name was but the last two times I went in I had the same girl who made very inappropriate comments to me about sexual things while I was there with my girlfriend and even after informing her of my significant other she made more lewd comments that was completely awkward and disrespectful ... I figured she was trying to break the ice in some weird way but decided to go back one more time for my birthday in hopes that she wouldn't be the one cutting my hair again. Well I got stuck with her and didn't have time to wait for a different girl so I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she completely screwed up my haircut not even close to what I asked for. I wanted a zero on the sides but long enough to comb over on top or spike up when in reality she gave me a military style crew cut very short on top shorter than I wanted very disappointed into what this place has come to be I will no longer be returning as a repeat customer. read more

Usually I love my visits here. I come to Champ's for every hair cut. Everyone is usually friendly and welcoming. My visit today was anything but friendly. I had Isabella (sp?) cut my hair today. She was voicing how horrible her children customers were, at a volume that everyone in Champ's could hear. I stayed quiet and let her do her thing. She then asked me if I was in the military and I responded no, but my wife is currently at Beale in the Air Force. She said her husband was at Beale as well. She asked what my wife did for the Air Force and I responded Finance. After that is when things went really South. She started bashing Beale's Finance Department immediately after I shared that my wife worked there. She also said verbatim, "so your wife is the one that takes people's money." While that is valid, it's only if the person being collected has fraudulently accepted overpayment. All of this opinion, without ever actually serving a day in the military. Needless to say, I will be looking for somewhere else to get my hair and my son's hair cut, since children apparently frustrate Isabella. read more

Ok, wow. I was so excited last summer when I thought I had found an acceptable place to get my and my sons hair cut. I went a little over board on the review according to some of my friends. I was authentically excited by the find however. Unfortunately it was short lived. Champs sadly is being placed in the "Well I had to try or I wouldn't know" category. I honestly am not usually exactly thrilled about paying some one to do some thing I can do and usually better, myself. I am one of those people. Don't get it twisted, I don't mind paying people to do what they do, I just expect people to do things WELL. Apparently that is unrealistic. We came to Champs in the afternoon and they had a steady stream of customers it seemed. "Sign in on the clip board" was the first thing I heard as we came inside. There may have been a please in there but I can't say for sure. Following instructions I signed my sons first and last name on the clip board and grabbed one of 2 open chairs sitting under a large flat screen tv showing some sporting event. I looked around. The theme at Champs is sports. The menu is made to look like a sports score board of sorts. There are different miscellaneous sports memorabilia items on the walls. Signed photos of some sports players and things related to sports in general. The place was clean as far as I could see with the exceptions being totally excusable due to the fact they were pretty busy. 3 women were working cutting hair. I can't say that any one stood out to me as especially friendly or for that matter NOT friendly. A dark haired woman who's name I neglected to catch called my son's name and away he went. He knew what he wanted and it was confirmed with me as well as how low I wanted his sides. He was getting a "Fohawk" since it was summer and although he wanted a "Mohawk" he looks funny with one. Sorry but its true. So after a few minutes, he comes out. I looked at his hair half hazardly trying not to be too judgmental, after all it was a FOHAWK right? I couldn't help but notice instantly that his head looked crooked but unfortunately this is something I am USED to seeing with both my son and MYSELF when people who are not familiar with "cow-licks" (how ever they are spelled) cut our hair (the majority). So I paid the $12 and even tipped $2 as it is what I do. Idk. So every thing was fine, he had product in his hair to make it "fohawk"ish and he was happy. I had not seen his head yet. In fact it was not me but his mother who first REALLY looked at his haircut. She thought I did it and half half-assed at that. "Why didn't you take him to the barber?" She asked me. "I did", I told her. "At least finish cutting his hair" she said. I asked her what she was talking about and she pointed to his head........ I understood why she was giving me a hard time. It looked like I had not only cut his hair myself, but like I did it while drinking and possibly arguing with someone. (I don't drink incase you are wondering) Then got distracted and didn't finish cutting his hair. The uneven hair line was just the most obvious. The top was cut like 3 or more different lengths seemingly at random. A flat spot almost directly in the center of the top of his head was what had earned the finger pointing of his mother. All I could do was shake my head. To be fair, I did not contact Champs. I was supposed to and also bring him back down there. I am sure they probably would have offered to make it right or what ever. I don't know. By the time I was actually going to be able to take him back down there how ever it was time for him to go back to his moms and it is just another event in the "I can't believe the things that happen when you are with your father" file. :-\ Oh well the search continues. read more

She is very attentive to the customer's needs, a perfectionist in her job, and just an overall professional. She goes out of her way to work people into her busy schedules. So many times I have been there right before her shift is over but she never hesitates to stay late to cut my hair. I never write reviews on yelp but after my crappy experience I had to let others know that this place is HORRIBLE! You get what you pay for..$12.00 "Crap Cuts" it should be called! I went in and was not greeted at all! I watched as every stylist sheered hair like if I was on a military base. I should have known and walked out then but I was desperate for a haircut. I sat down and explained that I needed a cleanup for a business trip. I told her clipper on the sides and just a little off the top. The girl must have spent all of 5 minutes on my hair and chopped my hair off on top. I was so mad! I feel like there was no need to take the time as I was a new customer but instead just another sheep to sheer like I had seen prior. I know that the hairstylist could tell I was angry but just asked if she could do anything else and then she walked to the register. I paid the $12.00 and left feeling so angry. I will NEVER go back there and would not recommend any person in their right mind to go into this place. It's definitely one of those hole in the wall chop shops and a place that just wants quantity over quality!
