My coworkers and I were going through Redding for work and grabbed dinner here because of the high reviews but meh. We were seated immediately which was nice. But the food was barely average. I've definitely had better Thai food for sure so I'm surprised it is so highly rated. I ordered the Vegetarian Drunken Noodles and they were so bland. I definitely asked for them to be spicy and I still had to drown them in chilli paste to get some flavor out of them. My coworkers ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, which they said wasn't as bad. The only highlight from this meal for me was our appetizer, the Curry Pops. They are vegetarian but my non vegetarian coworkers loved them as much as I did. They are essentially Thai samosas. I have never seen these anywhere else but they were absolutely delicious!! I would only ever come back to get the Curry Pops and that's why I am giving this place three stars instead of two. Those were 100% worth it. But besides that I would not recommend. read more

While a modest looking restaurant, this place was very crowded on a Friday night. So we ventured in for dinner. So glad we did, as the House Specialties - Duck Curry and Pumpkin curry were amazing. We ordered takeout: - basil fried rice 9/10- delicious! - spicy eggplant 5/10- the eggplant is tempura-style and the sauce came on the side. Definitely tasted more like something from a Chinese restaurant than the usual stir-fried eggplant at Thai places. Such a great place to stop by for dinner. Most of the restaurants in the area close by 8pm, this was open till 10pm. The service was awesome, our waitress took great care of our order. Champa Garsen used to be my family & friend's favorite restaurant. We hadn't been there in 1.5 years. We returned this week and were very disappointed. Perhaps they have new management/cooks? Not only did the prices go up but the quality of food went down. No more lunch specials, rice isn't included etc. The pumpkin curry tasted like a dessert as it was full of sugar! I lived in Thailand and enjoy "authentic" dishes. Thankfully Redding has great Thai food at Racha Noodle. I do understand how some restaurants feel the need to change flavors for the American pallet but selling inedible curry, bland noodles and no longer offering a lunch menu is sad. Seems like a very average southeast Asian restaurant. Most items had expected flavor/taste, but nothing was impressive. We ordered the following: Lao Lara salad: very spicy even though I specifically told the waitress that nothing in our food can be spicy. It's just stir fried ground beef, nothing special. I took one bite and spit it out. Avoid! House special with assorted Seafood: assorted seafood in thick salty sauce. It's ok, but the portion is quite small Ginger fish: cheap fish and lots of flavor. It's ok. Lao noodle soup with chicken: probably the best item here in this order but it is a bit salty Pad see-ew: all the noodle stuck together and the portion is very small Thai fried rice: very plain with barely anything in there. It's just seasoned white rice. Just a warning, this place won't pick up any calls; they are too busy. To go orders must be placed in person at the restaurant. Overall, I'm glad I found a decent Asian restaurant at Redding, but again, this place is not all that impressive. read more

I used Redding as a stop over on my drive from Los Angeles to Seattle and needed to find a place for dinner after 9 hours on the road. Thanks to Yelp I can always find God good wherever I am expectation was low for Asian food in Redding despite the 4.5 stars. Great food with efficient service. We started with the fresh spring rolls which were good! We had the coconut chicken broth which was delicious. For the mind we had the red curry and the panang curry. Both were delicious, but the panang curry tasted more like red curry. Our server seemed disinterested, but was efficient. last stop for our road trip and on our way home, we ended up in Redding. This place had good reviews so we decided to get some food to go. Asked for the spicy wide noodles with chicken. About as spicy as pudding, and the chicken was bland and rubbery (obviously pre-cooked and added as an afterthought) . The noodles had been cooked to death and so were a slimy, slippery mess. Weak, watery sauce that tasted like dishwater with fish sauce in it. I am consistently disappointed by ethnic food choices north of Sacramento and this place confirmed my disappointment. read more

We were just passing by Redding, the service was great and they had indoor seating the food was okay, when accidentally reviewing my credit card statement I discovered that the amount was off, I usually never keep the receipt but I found this copy of my jacket then I realized that I did not leave a $40 tip for$100 food and that someone fixed the one to a four on the tip amount. At Champa Garden they really FED me. Delicious food, beautiful service, and a cozy, community forward atmosphere that had diners making small talk with each other and laughing. I got the Ginger Fish with Basil and it was delicious. Yummy fried fish and a sauce that tasted fresh and homemade. The veggies were nice, I liked the broccoli shoots? That were in the mix. I had a long day of driving before finding this place on Yelp and am so happy I did. Great comfort food and yummy Thai and Laotian flavors. I'll be back for more when I'm in the area! read more

Was in Redding for the day and I always check out Thai restaurants when I'm in a new area.. the shrimp dish with the glass noodles was delicious and super flavorful.. Fantastic! Heads up, when you walk in you won't think you entered a Thai/Laotian restaurant. Ambiance aside, I received an immediate greeting from 2 people and promptly was seated. The menu had a large variety of options, but I settled on chicken larb (if you haven't had it, think lettuce wraps) and a red curry with pork. They nailed it on both items. Flavors were balanced, and none were overwhelming, so you could really enjoy all the ingredients. Portions were a good size for two people to share, and there wasn't a spot of food left behind by the end of my meal. If you're in Redding (which you probably are if you're reading this), Champa Garden is the place to go. read more

The mango sticky rice was very good, but the noodles (Maybe phad kee mao? Drunken noodles? I'm not sure) tasted like they had some kind of ketchup in the sauce, not bad tasting, but not particularly subtle or authentic as far as my memory from the bigger city Thai restaurants (and Thailand) goes. Maybe that's what Redding, America wants, or that our palates won't be more discriminating/exotic. Nice enough atmosphere and good efficient service. Went to Champa Garden in Redding, CA for a lunch date. We are huge Thai food fans, and love some good Thai. Today, not so great. We arrived around lunch time on the weekend, and were seated right away. This Restaurant is in a U shaped shopping center with a one way parking lot. You enter from the south and wind around the horse shoe to the north, and the Champa Garden sits on the North side. Parking is not a problem, although the shopping center has an Urgent Care, and another Breakfast/Lunch place nearby, so parking can be on the fuller side sometimes. We ordered the fresh spring roll appetizer, and two entrees for lunch. The appetizer came out pretty quick, and was just okay. I felt like it lacked flavor, and was kind of thrown together. There was a ton of lettuce in the rolls, and not so much other stuff. The drunken noodles were again okay, the flavor was decent, the portion size was fine. The problem comes in with the staple Pad Thai dish that I ordered. The dish was weird. I don't know another way to describe it. Having eaten Pad Thai too many times to count, I just felt like this was way off. The color, texture, taste, all of it was off. The sauce had a reddish tint to it, the noodles were super chewy, and the flavor was so different than anything that I have ever experienced. We had eaten at Champa in the past and had a good meal. Food is 5 stars; they make a can't-miss rice noodle. We get Pad Thai almost every time. Their spring rolls are delicious and made with fresh, quality ingredients. Service is nothing fancy; but it's not supposed to be. Only downside is if you're out to eat near closing time for lunch they do tend to rush you so they can prep the kitchen for dinner. I have worked in restaurants so I understand the desire to get things ready but maybe change your "open" time so customers don't feel blitzed when they come in even with 30-45 minutes to spare? read more

Some of the best pad Thai I have had in town ! I ordered the chicken pad Thai which had a nice balance of sweet and heat while my Girlfriend got the spicy beef chow mein. Very fresh with a nice kick as well . Got the fried wontons as our appetizer and it totally blew my mind ! Super tasty. Really wish this place was open for dine in but there curb side pick up is pretty convenient. Pull up and they bring the food right to you. Don't even have to get out of your car. This is our go to lunch spot whenever we are in the Redding area. Sooo many reviews I don't know what I could add here. The food is consistently great and always tasty. There have been recent changes made and I did notice the restroom is cleaner. Our favorite dish...one we order every time, is the Yellow Pumpkin Curry. Nice chunks of tender pumpkin with onion, carrots, potato and chicken. The flavor is awesome! We also LOVE the sticky rice for desert. It comes with mango and coconut milk. It had been a long day and we were fortunate enough to find Champa Garden. The food was incredible and delicious , the portions are huge and the staff are super attentive and nice. Parking is easy right in front of the restaurant, we had food to take back to our hotel and it was so good again the next day.
