To begin, the customer service was great. Very nice guy and pointed the chair towards the TV while I got my haircut. The haircut on the other hand was not. The finished result was nothing like the picture he showed me. He shaved the sides of my head drawing blood. The top of my hair is uneven the right side of my head is noticeably shorter than the left. Extremely uneven cuts toward the front of my head I can pull my left half of hair down to my eye, the left half won't even go to half my forehead. read more

Unless you're looking for the exact style that is featured in the photos I suggest going somewhere else. I asked to "Just clean up the hair below the beard line" that's it. All he had to do was to follow the exact line work that another barber I had done just two weeks ago.... Instead, all of the line work was not followed, hair was brought in by several inches and thus completely reshaping everything that I was hoping to achieve for the Wedding tomorrow. read more

AWESOME place!!! Being that I'm a female I felt super weird walking in and asking for a haircut but they put me at ease immediately. My hair was falling out due to Chemo, and it was really bothering me, so I had them buzz it. Zack did a great job on the cut and also designed me a cool straight razored design on one side! Scheduled an appointment for 3:00, I walk in and and they are giving people haircuts, which is all good, I expected them to be finishing up and be done in a couple of minutes. I then proceed to wait 30 minutes while no one has said anything to me, so I just left. It was disappointing to see them not respect their customers time after I had vouched for them to so many people, but even the people that went had something negative to say about them after goign. read more

First time in SB, for business, and I needed a fresh cut (have to look presentable)... Looked online and most the barber shops I found were closed (it was a Monday), however, Champs was open. It was about a 10 minute drive from my hotel, in a cool neighborhood. I was Emilio's, the owner, first client of the day. All I needed was a beard trim, and Emilio hands down gave me one of the best beard trims I have ever received -- very clean looking, used a razorblade, etc. On top of that, Emilio and I had great conversation throughout the cut. These guys are cool. Went into Champs the Saturday before Easter. Emilio cleaned up my two sons (15 and 7) and my nephew (16) along with giving me a head and face shave with a straight razor. Great experience getting the boys an old-school type of shave. Even the 7 year old got a kick out of getting his face shaved (without a real blade) and felt like a grown up man leaving Champs. read more

I had made the mistake of waiting until 4pm, on a Saturday, to go and get my hair cut. My usual shop was long closed, and a number of other shops I'd previously used were closed as well. Looking on Yelp, I came across Champs and realized that they were still open for awhile longer. Without skipping a beat, I drove straight over there. I was greeted by Emilio, the barber. He was finishing on another client's hair and mentioned I'd be next in line. The shop itself was reminiscent of typical competitors in the area: no-frills decor, a refrigerator filled with beverages, three stations, and a TV with a wrestling match playing. The shop was clean and orderly, and I got myself comfortable with a magazine on a chair while I waited. Once Emilio was ready for me, I explained what kind of cut I wanted. He asked a few questions, but appeared confident that he could cut it to my liking. He was precise and quick with his motions, friendly, and efficient. My time in the chair was a good experience. I was quite impressed with the end product. I had asked for a fade haircut, and Emilio's game was completely on point! Flawless work! I've had other barbers botch their fade job - having my hair cut THE RIGHT WAY was a refreshing change. Reasonable pricing, too. And, they will accept credit cards as payment! Emilio is a great barber and makes sure that your hair is cut to perfection. He is nice but is usually the only barber there. This is a great place to get your haircut for professional or social reasons. I wish Emilio made it more organized as to when he is not at the shop because sometimes he has to go pick up his kids and the shop will not be open in the middle of the day. I drive 20 mins to get my haircut here so when he disappears and doesn't come back for a while, I'm wasting a lot of time. read more
