My actual tech on the day of, Dante (Donte?), was a cool dude and did his best, so this review is NOT about him. This review is about whoever answers the phone # ending in 8171, who I'm assuming is Kevin (too much of a coward to give me his name after going on a transphobic rant). Transphobic bull aside, for the quality of work vs. the amount paid for spot-treating pet urine, don't really recommend. Spot-treated approximately a 3 sq. ft. area of carpet for $300 only for it to come back way worse (smell and staining). I called in to ask for a partial refund - not a full refund - only for this dude to childishly lose his temper and start yelling, after a half-hearted offer to come back and try again (mind you, after telling me they already offered to come back "for free" when they actually offered to come back for an additional $150). If he had told me, "I'm sorry that happened, but I can't give you a refund because the labor was already performed. I hear you that maybe we should warn people that this can happen sometimes at the beginning of a urine treatment," I'd have accepted it in peace. Cat urine is extremely tricky, so don't advertise specializing in urine removal if no one is professional enough to give warning that this can happen after a round of cleaning - that the staining and smell can get way worse than even when the accidents were fresh - and then proceed to gaslight the sh!t out of you after that happens. Anyway, found folks way more professional and more effective at Ruiz Premium Carpet Care who were able to take care of the problem just fine. read more

Be weary of this business, especially the owner Kevin. They hook you with the $100 deposit so it's hard to say, no, once they arrive and tell you how much more it's going to cost. Then they haphazardly and sloppily spray chemicals all over your furniture. They made the stain on my couch worse! There is now a white chemical stain surrounding the original stain. Kevin offered to send his crew back out, but when I asked for a refund instead he got very angry and argued with me before hanging up. The agent who helped me over the phone was very kind, clear and helpful, but I did not love having to give a $50 deposit just to make an appointment without an exact price. Though the technician arrived within the estimated time window and was flexible on his initial quoted price (in exchange for these Yelp reviews), I still paid a bit more than expected for an L-shaped sectional and one area rug. They performed a really good quality cleaning service on both of our items and are clearly serious about their work. Overall can't ask for much more than that, other than creating a system where technicians could offer exact estimates before arrival (picture, video?) so you can make a more informed decision about whether or not to drop a deposit and secure an appointment. The carpet in my apartment had a lot of hard black stains they mentioned it was gonna be tough to get out but can make it happen. I found a coupon on my car and called them up to clean my area rug. They were able to set me up with the same week appointment. They called 30 minutes before arrival and once again upon arriving. Donte and Kevin came in with masks on (very covid safe) and they cleaned my area rug (8 x 10) in 35 minutes! It was very speedy, very quick, very safe, and most of all very clean! Our regular carpet cleaning company was not available so I called Champs Carpet last weekend. I was told that while I couldn't get a quote over the phone, their pricing starts at $39 per room and that there would be extra cost to work on the dog pee accident area in one of the rooms. That all sounded reasonable and since they had an available slot that same morning, I agreed to give the $100 deposit to secure the appointment. That was a mistake that I'll never make again. When Dante arrived, I was shocked when he quoted their price to clean the 3 bedrooms, including the dog pee stain area, would be $1000. To me, that was stratospheric. Apparently to clean the dog pee would require haz mat treatment so that room alone was $500. We've had our 3 rooms cleaned many times in the past and have generally paid about $200 - $250. After expressing great disbelief, initially telling him "we're going to pass" and then some haggling, he agreed to clean the 3 rooms for $400 total (including the deposit). It was such a disingenuous process that left me feeling highly distrustful of this company. Regarding the cleaning, Dante did a good job but the carpets were very wet when he left. He said they should dry in 4-6 hours. It took over 2 days for them to dry enough for us to put our various items back on the floor. We won't be using Champs Carpet again. read more

Dante came to look at it and quoted me a price of $450 to clean a one bedroom, living room and small hallway where the stain was. I gave him $200 cash as a deposit to clean it December 13, 2024. The next morning I cancelled the appointment and was told by Kevin, the owner that my deposit would be returned in a few weeks. On their website, they claim to give free estimates. They have a outgoing message with no voicemail, so it is impossible to leave a message. They were contacted by the Better Business Bureau and I sent a certified, return receipt letter to them. The coupon was for $39 for 350 sq. ft. The carpet was pretty bad (there's a rust stain in the BDRM) the hallway & part of the LR, so naturally it turned into $150 but it was totally worth it! I was referred by a family member who has been using this company for years and they have severed a long time relationship and lost the potential of many more clients. But anyways ... I called and paid my $100 "deposit" to be on the calendar (against my better judgement but again was referred by a family member) I was given a date and a 2 hour time window when the tech would be here. From the very beginning I felt like I was being sized up. Dante looked at my luxury apartment and tried to qoute me an outrageous $400 minimum for a 2 piece sectional that barely fits 5 people. As I a business owner I respect peoples prices and would've kindly just declined, however I paid a "deposit" that I just knew I wouldn't be get back if I did. So I negotiated him down to $250 but I had to write 5 star reviews on all 3 of the companies yelp pages "before he left" LOL... (Keep in mind my mother just had her whole apartment's carpet cleaned for $200!!!!!) Dante spent a total of 45ish mins in my apartment from the quote to being "finished". I was extremely disappointed in the work and reached out to my referral to let her know how poor of a job was done. She was shocked and immediately called Kevin, the owner, to rectify the situation. I personally didn't speak to Kevin but reached out via text after to schedule a time when he himself would be able to finish the job. We agreed for that following Tuesday and I was given a 4 hour window of when he would arrive. I appreciated this gesture and cancelled my morning of work to make sure I was available. I reached out to Kevin the day of around 2 hours into the window to ask when I would be expecting him. Come to find out KEVIN NEVER PUT ME ON HIS CALENDAR!!!! At this point I was over it and had no more time to give to this situation and kindly asked for a refund.... and boy did that not go well. I was yelled at by Kevin told he "STANDS BEHIND HIS TECHS WORK" and hung up on me... So now I was out of $250 and half a days profit from work. WOW But what makes it even worse is he has DANTE call me back and tells me this is how they run their "business" and they "didn't know I was referred by someone"... now my three questions are this... I have a carpeted room with puppy stains and called 5 carpet cleaners and while everyone got back to me and gave me a quote, they were the cheapest (at first), the fastest and the most organized. Asking for a $25 deposit to come out and give an estimate seemed surprising (as no-one else did that) but I was willing to do that for the following reasons: - coming out, looking at my carpet and giving an estimate, along with recommendations takes time and effort, so people should be paid for this - if you end up hiring them, this gets applied, so you only "pay in vain" if you end up not using their services - so for me this feels like a very fair and upfront, transparent deal Kevin came an hour early (which was surprising, but good), was super friendly and personable and took the time to explain my situation to me. The "starting rate" that I was told on the phone was MUCH lower than the estimate that Kevin ended up giving me. While was aware that it would be more (given pet issues), the discrepancy was VERY high (400%-ish) so I was a bit shocked. Fortunately I was also able to negotiate him down to a price I felt comfortable with (and which was in line with what I had been given from competition). Their process of doing business is responsive, customer focused, clean, fast and transparent. I am writing this review before I see the final (dried) results, so unless there is something wrong with the result, I will not only recommend them but keep doing business with them regularly. read more

The owner, Kevin is unprofessional, rude and his ego lost him a returning customer. I've used them in the past and wanted to support a black owned company as a Black woman. I've always thought it odd to require an upfront $100 deposit but still moved forward with booking in which he did say it would be non refundable. What he didn't say is that i would have to pay an ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT to reschedule. So when i called 24 hours in advance to reschedule for the following week, Kevin was immediately perturbed and told me I'd need to pay another deposit on top of the $100 I've already paid. This was never communicated to me and also there's nothing in writing so it also is bad practice and feels money hungry. I shared with Kevin that I did not know an additional deposit would be required in the event that I would need to reschedule (a date was provided by me in which i could reschedule as well) and that he should have his policies in writing so there's no confusion and no customer is put into this difficult predicament. He went on to raise his voice over the phone, and talk over me saying i shouldn't tell him how to run his business of 30 years. I'm a customer and typically good business practice WOULD be to get customer feedback and thank people for their feedback. Instead his ego was bruised and he took it way too personal and said i can't tell him how to run his business lol. Called to get a free estimate (as per their website) and was told it would be $250 to clean two rugs. Called back later and was told the $250 was not a "quote" and that they'd have to see the rugs to give the actual cost of cleaning and that the $250 would be the minimum. Then was told there would be a $200 deposit to schedule the appointment for them to come out and provide a quote. This seemed off and the owner "Kevin" was being unusually aggressive, using high pressure sales tactics and saying he had a lot of phone calls to make so I needed to decide then and there if I wanted to book the appointment. I was led to believe the deposit was to prevent any last minute cancellations and that we'd get the deposit back if we ultimately decided not to go through with the service once we got the final quote. Paid the deposit and scheduled the appointment. Later that day, found out by reading Yelp reviews more closely that they are known for charging 2x or 3x more than the initial phone estimate once they actually visit the customer's house/apartment, and if the customer decides not to go through with the cleaning, they try to keep the deposit. And that customers that HAVE gone through with the cleaning were unhappy with the shoddy service. Many of the 5-star reviews were the result of them pressuring the customers to write the reviews before they even left the premises or the carpets/rugs had dried. Oh and also, the owner "Kevin" is actually Khalid Ahmad Wilson, and he was previously arrested on 27 counts of fraud (you can google him, I double-checked after learning this on Yelp and his address matches Champs Rug's address). He operates his carpet cleaning company under multiple names, and just changes the name when bad reviews start to pile up. Obviously after learning all this, I wasn't going to risk it. So I called to cancel the appointment and was told the deposit is non-refundable (which was NOT stated on the phone call). When I pointed out I could simply do a chargeback on my credit card since he misrepresented himself and his services and has a history of fraudulent behavior, he hung up lol :) The lesson from all this is to do better research ahead of time, and look closely at the negative reviews, not just the positive ones. read more
