Kevin and his team were great from the start! Setting up the appointment was a breeze, as was the communication leading up to the service. He showed up with 2 other guys. They got right to work on a pretty battered sofa. We were dealing with some cat pee on part of our sectional. Champs Carpet Now that my carpet is dry, I can provide a more thorough review than the one I wrote and subsequently deleted. I initially communicated with One Hour Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning to get a quote. Satisfied with the price, I made an appointment for a few days later. When the time came, Donte and William from Champs Carpet showed up; however, I wasn't aware that they were not One Hour Carpet until later on. Having already received a quote for a deep cleaning, I was surprised when Donte walked through my apartment and informed me he usually charged $350 for my space, but would charge me $250 instead. I informed him the quote I received was for $150. After a little back and forth, he agreed to the $150 (I think it helped that I had it in writing via a text message). In my initial review, I remarked that both Donte and William were professional. Donte kept calling me ma'am and I eventually told him he could call me by my first name. I also initially said my carpet was cleaned in an hour, and I thought that was great. Turns out, being speedy may be the reason why my carpet isn't as clean as it should be. Drying time was way longer than the five hours Donte said it would take (I kept my windows open and had fans going to speed it up). I'm not exactly sure how long it took to dry as I went out of town on an early morning flight the next day (but after nine hours, it still wasn't dry). Upon return, I walked into my place and realized my carpet wasn't as clean as I thought it was when it was still wet. My reasons for the 2-star review are because: My carpets are cleaner than they were before, but there are areas that still look dirty. I'll probably go rent a machine and go over those areas myself. After finishing, Donte asked me SEVERAL times to leave a review on Google (this is when I found out he was not One Hour Carpet). I told him I Yelped, and he wanted me to do the review right then and there. I typed up something really quick and posted it (the review was 4 stars). A few minutes later, I hear a knock on my door and it's Donte asking me to change it to 5 stars. When I explained why I gave him 4 stars (at that time, it was because of the price discrepancy), he said he wasn't aware that I was quoted the initial $150 even though he said he was business partners with the person who gave me the quote. I recommend you DO NOT write a review of Champs Carpet until after whatever you have cleaned is fully dried. Doubt I will use them again, or recommend them to anyone else. read more

1. I called to reschedule my rug cleaning appointment needed to be canceled due to an emergency. I left a message. 2. The owner called me back and had no idea who he was speaking to, which is strange because I left my name and number and he called me. I had to remind him. 3. I attempted to reschedule the appointment. The owner informed me that it would now require a $50 deposit. The $25 deposit was voided due to the cancelation. Not sure as to why the deposit fee doubled but, sure. 4. I expressed that I was unaware that a new deposit would be required. This was not made clear in the contract. 5. This was the last sentence I uttered before the owner then proceeded to scold me for the next 5 mins. He asked why I felt it his responsibility to explain his cancelation policy (which was odd) He stated 5 different times that he's running a business and how its unprofessional to cancel an appointment. The entire time, I continuously had to interject with "Sir, sir" to even get a statement in. He continue to speak over me, the paying customer as he expressed himself. I could not get in a single word to explain my position. To be clear, I never stated that I would not pay an additional deposit or that the deposit was unreasonable. He has no idea whether or not I was willing to pay (I was). To make matters worse, he then attempts to appeal to me as another Black person by calling me "Brother". This seems pretty odd to me given how this owner spent the majority of the call scolding me about professionalism. Seems unprofessional to me. I have no problem paying fees, penalties, or fines in the event of an appointment cancelation. His deposit policy, however, was not made clear to me upon receipt. After a couple more quotes I arranged to have him come out for a true estimate... what's best is they were able to do it on the spot! Didn't have to schedule another appointment! He used a mild cleaning enzyme so no harsh chemical smells or destruction to the velvet, as well as a special dry cleaning machine so it's not a super soggy or anything. I'm not sure how this company has so many good reviews, but we had a recent sketchy situation with them. We're not even sure this is a legitimate company. I called the number on the website, got a call back and was given a rough quote by phone when I described what we wanted. When the guys showed up, they were in a van that belonged to a coffee company. The first thing the guy said to my husband was "do you like coffee? We sell organic coffee too." So random. They then quoted us twice as much on-site, and said there was only a 50/50 chance it would work. We declined the service mentioning the quote we received by phone. He then agreed to reduce the cost down $100 so we decided to try it. Bad mistake. We're pretty sure they didn't actually use any cleaner or soap, just hot water. Most of the stains have reappeared now that it's dried. Lastly the invoice they gave us says "carpet gigs" not "champs carpet," so not sure if we were subcontracted out or if this is a front company. All in all felt pretty sketch and we would not recommend. read more

Sharp on appointment time with 25 mins advance call. He is honest and said he will do his best, but few stains are really tough especially this one as its almost 10 days old and would have penetrated into carpet. I'm super disappointed to write this review. I was initially impressed with how quickly Champs responded to my texts. Lejeannia answered the phone and was very sweet and thorough about the details of my cleaning- 2 hours for 2 couches, 2 carpets and 6 dining chairs. I had other cleaning consultations with similar quotes, and decided to go with them since they had immediate availability. The two men who came to clean were polite but were completely finished in just under an hour. They were packing up before saying anything to me. Reviewing the work, I was surprised and noticed many stains still on each item. I asked them to come back, as I think they needed to spend extra time on particular spaces. They just said, " We stand by our work." I decided to let the water dry and see if anything looked better. Everything looked the same, so I called in a couple other carpet companies to show them the work as well. The companies said that there were multiple stains that could be removed and that each of the pieces looked as if they hadn't been cleaned at all. I sent a message to the company and was given a phone number to call. When I did call, a man answered, stating he was the owner. When I told him that I'd like to have someone come out again and look at the work, as I didn't think it was complete, he was very irate and began shouting at me that his guy went "above and beyond" (Despite not having seen this work himself) and was very antagonistic. He then yelled at me for calling the phone number I was given. When I said his wife had sent it to me via yelp, he said," She doesn't do anything, she has nothing to do with this!" I've worked with lots of different small companies, have had situations where I needed someone to come back and fix something and have never been chewed out by anyone. Do not hire this crew!
