There are meals you enjoy... and then there are meals that make you pause mid-bite and question…read moreevery other fried chicken decision you've ever made in your life. Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken? Yeah. It's that kind of place. We went for the chicken sandwiches and I need you to understand--these were not just "good." These were ruin-other-places-for-you good. Crispy, juicy, perfectly seasoned... the kind of sandwich that makes you immediately start planning your next visit before you've even finished the first one. Now let's talk sides, because they did not come to play. Coleslaw (mine): fresh, balanced, actually flavorful (which is rare because let's be honest... slaw can be a gamble). This one? Solid win. Fried okra (my friend's): I am extremely picky about fried okra. Like, I side-eye most of it. But THIS? Golden, crispy, not a hint of that weird slimy nonsense. It was so good we ordered more to take home... which tells you everything you need to know. And because we clearly make excellent life choices, we shared a chess pie for dessert. Rich, sweet, buttery perfection. What really tied it all together though? The service. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being over the top. The kind of service that makes you feel taken care of, not rushed. Bottom line: Every single bite was worth every penny--and honestly, I would've paid more and still walked out happy. This is one of those spots that doesn't just meet expectations... it casually exceeds them and then sends you home thinking about it later like a crush you're not over yet.

The thing that I hate most about this place is that they're not in my neighborhood…read more Pollos asados is a family favorite in our household, so we have our go-to spots. Today we happened to be driving to Natural Bridge Caverns and saw this place on the side of the road and decided that we'd drop in to try it out after walking a mile underground. That was a great decision. It's a small place, but there were plenty of tables available (and several people in there having a late lunch/early dinner, too) and the service was on-point. Not too present, not too absent, and very approachable. We got an order of chips and salsa to start and for us, we don't mind paying for chips and salsa. But make it worth it. And this definitely was. The server brought us a big basket of chips and a cup of salsa that we barely put a dent in. It was more watery than we prefer but the flavor was amazing. The chicken was perfect: flavorful, moist, and plenty of it. The charro beans were delicious, and the rice was, too. Literally zero real complaints here. We saw, we ate, we conquered. The price was very fair for the portions, and we told ourselves that we deserve to come back here again. Looking forward to the next time!

You have the option of eating outside and undercover or inside with AC. The server was knowledgeable on the menu and was very helpful and attentive to our needs. My husband ordered the wicked dog and loved it. I had a bite and can see why. I had the chicken strip combo and it's the best I've ever had. The chicken strips were juicy, flavorful and large. We substituted the mac and cheese and it was so good, it ruined all other mac and cheese forever. It was that good. Creamy, flavorful and plentiful. Our cashier, who was very friendly, also threw in extra fries, which were good. We ordered a gold bar pastry, which is kinda like a brownie with other stuff in it, including coconut. Incredible flavor! And my husband ordered a banana pudding, which, you guessed it, was heavenly (no photo, sorry). Plenty of comfortable seating. The restaurant was spotless and it's right off 35. I'm planning our next trip!

Not bad but I wish it was a bit more of the plump hot dogs instead of standard. The bun was buttery and good. The wings were standard. Not bad. The asada fries were very salty. I think it was the cheese but can't be for sure but it wasn't the fries. The Mac and cheese was ok. I think it was the same cheese as the asada. Didn't stand out. Now for the best part...the tenders are good. The coating is delicious and you can tell they season or marinate it. They were tender and juicy. No complaints. Also, we were excited to try the cinnamon rolls however, the 2 they had out there looked older and dry; not appetizing so we didn't get any. The atmosphere is cozy with fountain drink machine and plenty of seating. Customer service was good. They don't accept bills larger than $20. Just FYI.

I will reheat and eat later. The portions were large and both of us took home leftovers. The service was good, no check brought to table, we waited and found out you just go to register to pay. I took 1bite of my cheese enchilada and I don't know what they use to season their gravy, but horrible, and the cheese inside was not even melted. I got 2 crispy tacos, the tomato came as 2 pieces of a half, that was laid in the enchilada sauce, and 1 bite and the entire taco fell apart and I had to try to get a few bites with a fork, but 1 more bite and I was done. I left literally almost a whole plate of food. The taco meat tasted almost like Taco Bell. HORRIBLE! We got to know the owner when he had his truck outside of New Braunfels, and he's a super nice guy, but this... he miserably failed at his restaurant. My husband got carne guisada, ate 1 bite, and no more. He ate the rice and beans, and a tortilla, and he was done. So literally over $35 for 2 almost full plates to be left on the table. I wish I had taken pics but I was so mad, and ready to leave so I could actually go get something else to eat.
