The thing that I hate most about this place is that they're not in my neighborhood. Pollos asados is a family favorite in our household, so we have our go-to spots. Today we happened to be driving to Natural Bridge Caverns and saw this place on the side of the road and decided that we'd drop in to try it out after walking a mile underground. That was a great decision. It's a small place, but there were plenty of tables available (and several people in there having a late lunch/early dinner, too) and the service was on-point. Not too present, not too absent, and very approachable. We got an order of chips and salsa to start and for us, we don't mind paying for chips and salsa. But make it worth it. And this definitely was. The server brought us a big basket of chips and a cup of salsa that we barely put a dent in. It was more watery than we prefer but the flavor was amazing. The chicken was perfect: flavorful, moist, and plenty of it. The charro beans were delicious, and the rice was, too. Literally zero real complaints here. We saw, we ate, we conquered. Love coming over here. Inside the place feels western, old fashioned house with today's seasoning! The cook the chickens in another small shack next to the restaurant. You have the option of eating outside and undercover or inside with AC. The server was knowledgeable on the menu and was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The food is always delicious. The chicken is moist with so much flavor. We also had the beef fajitas and they were so tender. They have always been friendly. The restaurant was clean and had plenty seating inside and out. They have a green salsa. I don't know what happened but it was different this time. Stopped here on the way to San Antonio from visiting the caves. The service was very friendly and quick. Everything is alacart (e.g. chips and salsa is extra). We split a whole chicken dinner. The dinner came with rice, beans, grilled onion and tortillas. The grilled chicken was outstanding. Tender, moist, and very favorable. I am not sure what they seasoned it with but it was great. we went in and order at 4:54. We were told it'd be a 20 minute wait. I went in and asked where is my order it'll be a minute a minute turned in to an hour. Another customer asked you've been waiting an hour for this order. My husband said yes, while I was inside waiting for the food when I asked for a refund, my food magically appeared. This was our first time eating Pollos Asados El Gallo and we will definitely go back. We ordered the whole chicken and 1 lb beef fajitas. They both came with rice, beans and tortillas. Also included were grilled 1/2 onion, jalapeño and cactus. The beef fajitas were the most tender I've ever had from a restaurant. It was seasoned just right too. The chicken was a smidge dry, but didn't take away from the flavor at all. I'm not sure if they brine it, but the flavors were all throughout the chicken and not just on the outside. The beans and rice were good. One of the things I enjoy is tasting the different salsas that come along with meals. They had a, what I'm guessing, is a habanero salsa that was delicious and nice and hot. The green and red salsas were fantastic too. We called in an order and it was ready to pick up in 15 minutes. This is a relatively new restaurant in Garden Ridge so we decided to try it - good decision! The staff were all very courteous and the service was prompt. The menu is fairly limited, but the food they make is awesome! Of course we had to try the chicken and also wanted to try the beef fajitas. The waitress was kind enough to tell us we could get a 1/2 fajita plate which we did, along with a 1/2 chicken plate. The chicken was amazing - moist and flavorful and just plain delicious! The beef fajita meet was also very flavorful, moist and also spot on! Although I am not a fan of corn tortillas, these corn tortillas were really good - very soft and not too thick - I liked them which is saying a lot! The rice was good - but not exceptional - probably because there isn't much you can do to make Mexican rice good or bad. The charro beans were very tasty - flavor and a little bit of heat! They have three type of 'salsa' - a very hot but kind of sweet one that I didn't care for; a very flavorful but less 'hot' kind that I really liked; and a guacamole salsa/sauce which had a great flavor as well. Finally got a chance to come back. Was wanting to try the chicken. There are 3 plates to try. A full chicken, 1/2 chicken and the leg and thigh. I get the leg and thigh, however I think I got the half. The chicken is fantastic. It has a citrus type marinade and a good char from the pit. It was moist and not over done. I couldn't have wished for better. It comes with generous portions of Mexican Rice, Borracho beans, a baked onion and a ton of hot tortillas. The servings are very generous. I was so full I was able to share my chicken with my date. She loved it too. The service is quick. Don't come expecting anything fancy, it is pretty basic inside and the menu is small. All the plates and utensils are either plastic or Styrofoam. Sodas are from a can. These things aren't an issue for me. This will probably be a regular place for me. read more

This location has the same name as the Callahan and 410 location but, sadly, it does not compare. I called for the "gordo pack " family meal and was promptly told there was no such thing at this location. I ordered a full chicken and rice and beans. I picked up the order and went home. The first issue I noticed was that they hadnt sealed the containers right and everything was now mixed up and leaking. The second thing I noticed was that the rice didn't taste as fresh as with the other location. The chicken was the same wonderful tasting goodness I know and love, which is why 3 stars is the best I'll do here. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review, I have been a customer for about half a year. Walked in today for lunch and did not receive food for over a hour. I get it that they are short staffed (sign on door), so I did not mind the longer than expected wait time. What I was very uncomfortable with is the way the upper management (blue dress) was treating her employees. I quickly noticed that our server was new, and upper management was being very rude/passive aggressive to the new employee. Please be careful with this type of individual.
