If your in the market for fancy sweat pants your in luck. Really nice all leather TNs here in black or white. I've gone through a pair of those and enjoy a good throwback to yesteryear. This is a pretty big store located upstairs of Newpark mall. Been here many times and I must have forgotten to check-in as it shows only one. Haha... The place is clean and organized. They have a wide selection of shoes, hats and apparels. The only disappointment to me is they don't always carry a large amount of women apparel especially sports teams or what they tell me, they run out of women's apparel all the time. They did have tons of Warrior's apparel due to they are in the finals but of course, for men. Why is that? Don't women enjoy sports teams as well? ;-p Good thing I can fit youth L-XL so I can buy jerseys. Staff gave great customer service as always (especially Itilia) and she helped me the best she could even when inventory was out of stock for the shoe I was looking for. There was no sizes in their store or online. She believed it was because it was on sale and very popular. I did treat myself and get a Warrior's hat instead. Go Warrior's!! Ok. Let's first start off with the fact that I didn't buy anything there yet. Let's also start off to say that it's Christmas season and not only to store clerks get exhausted and testy, but also customers at the mall. Here I am walking with my mom at a slow pace after I bought several candles at Bath & Body Works and we passed Champs to go back to JCPenney where we parked. All of a sudden this awesome salesclerk from champs runs up to us and says, "would you like a bag?" He had a bag there and helped me get my candles that were slipping out of my hand, into the bag. Now this guy is awesome! When I went to my car, I called Champs and they said his name is Juan. So thank you Juan for being soo kind and sweet and wonderful and helping a stranger out. 250TH YELP REVIEW: MATCHING "KICKS" WITH MATCHING "TOPS" - JORDANS WITH JORDANS, NIKE WITH NIKE, ADIDAS WITH ADIDAS Some people on Yelp have commented to me that I'm very stylish due to my personal profile pictures of me wearing suits. Personally I don't know if that is the case. However I do prefer a certain style of clothes for certain functions. Since the attire at my work is business casual I wear clothes from Gap because it has the best value of working clothes. If I was wearing a suit or a sports coat for a special occasion I would wear a suit that I purchased from Men's Wearhouse or Banana Republic. With respects to brand of "kicks" I like to match them with the same brand on a t-shirt or jersey. Remember in the 90's where people would wear different type of brands - FILA lids, Reebok t-shirt, and Nike kicks? Oh the 90's. Regarding sneakers I don't buy them right away. However I noticed I have numerous brands of jerseys but not enough brand sneakers to match with the jerseys. For several months on the weekends I would go to this Champs Sports location to find the right pair of sneakers. The crux of my review is based upon the brand of sneakers to match my brand of jerseys. ADIDAS In terms sneakers I prefer Nike over Adidas, but most of my soccer jerseys are Adidas brand. The three Adidas soccer jerseys I have are the 2014 edition of Spain and Germany (home and away), the last two countries that have won the FIFA Men's World Cup. Those three jerseys have a common color - red. So after couple of months looking for a right pair I decided to get the burgundy Adidas Originals ZX Flux. The great thing about this pair of Adidas is if you take a picture with a flash, "bling" reflects on your kicks. NIKE The most number of jerseys I have are the Nike Cal Golden Bears football jerseys: 3 blue jerseys and 1 gold jersey. I also have a Nike Barcelona soccer jersey. The common color that the Cal football jersey and Barcelona soccer jersey have is navy blue. However the shades of the navy blue are slightly different from both jerseys. I had to find a common navy blue that would work well with the Cal and Barcelona jerseys. There was a navy pair of Nike Prestige IV at Footlocker in NewPark Mall I liked but that pair was a high top. I don't like high tops as I prefer low tops. So after about 5 months after my initial search with the help of suggestions from the employees at Champs Sports I found a pair of navy Nike Air Max 90. JORDAN Growing up everyone wanted a pair of Jordans. However as you grow older you get question yourself is any pair of kicks worth $200? What's worse is there are some people who wear Jordan kicks that don't match with their attire. My cousin's friend commented, "You see people buy a pair of Jordans for $200 to wear with a $5 t-shirt." That was funny, but true. My philosophy is if you wear Jordan kicks but no other Jordan brand on your attire you look sloppy. I wasn't thinking about getting a pair of Jordans until I noticed in my closest that I have a Jordan Cal Golden Bears basketball jersey. That was one excuse of buying a pair of Jordans. The other excuse is if I can buy a pair at a discounted price. The Jordan AJ Low Future costs $145 at the store; the navy pair would match my navy Jordan Cal basketball jersey. As a Champs Sports VIP Rewards Member I received a $25 birthday discount for any purchase over $100. About three weeks ago I went Champs Sports to buy the navy Jordan AJ Low Future as a birthday gift to myself but it didn't have my size. At the store with the help of one of the employees I ordered the pair online but the price online was $109.99. I was able to use the $25 discount. Including the online price, coupon, and tax I paid a pair of Jordan for less than $94. Paying a pair of Jordan that cost $145 in store for less than $94 is priceless. So there you have my fashion outlook when it comes to matching sneakers with your jersey or shirt. I don't try to be all "brand-out" with lids (slang for caps) and shorts to match with my kicks. Regarding lids I see the importance of it protecting your eye sight but I don't wear it for a fashion statement. For a fashion advice to really accentuate your brand kicks match it with same brand jersey (or my own slang word "tops"). It's a subtle, understated style approach. Plus you look properly dressed if you have matching brand jerseys/ shirts with matching brand kicks as you won't look like a slob. Overall the quality of the kicks at this Champs Sports location is exceptional. In terms of customer service the employees here have been really helpful when I ask their advice. Some of them recognize me as the guy who's trying to find brand kicks to match with the same brand jersey. So if you have a brand jersey or shirt that you need to find kicks to match with I recommend coming to this Champs Sports location not only for the kicks, but also one of the employees for its advice. Definitely rude customer service. I saw FILA shoes on sale on the men's section but I definitely knew I didn't have a size, so I compared it to the women's section and they were exactly the same. I asked them for a size 8 in women's and the tall female cashier in the grey told me "this is for women's." I reassured her that I knew and another shorter female employee in red told me too "look in the kid's section." Honestly didn't understand why they didn't just want to sell me the shoes. Anyways once she got the size 8 in films she threw it on the counter, literally lip syncing to the song while I was paying, and literally shoved the bag to my face. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered 3 new pair of shorts, which were a little too tight even though I have 10 pairs of older CSG shorts that are the same size. I was away on vacation and missed the 45 day return policy. Customer support was understandable and offered to exchange them for the next size. Even though they sent me an RMA, after knowing I missed the 45 day return deadline and after they agreed to offer an RMA anyway due to extenuating circumstances, I shipped the shorts back and their warehouse declined my order and shipped them back to me. I am amazed that the company would agree to something and then go back on it. I called twice today and was told no after they already agreed to replace my order with one size larger. I recently purchased a pair of shoes from Champs and order 1/2 size down because according to the website they were running small and recommended it. Upon receiving them they were way too big so I checked the return policy and it states that you can exchange an item for another or get a full refund. Upon arriving at the store what the policy didn't clarify was that you actually have to BUY the product AGAIN and the original item has to be sent back and you will not receive a credit back for the original purchase until it is received through the mail so meanwhile you will have 2 charges on your card. So take note, if you take the company's advise on their website for sizing and end up with the wrong size and have to return it, once again they will make your life even more difficult by having you incur a double charge because there is no actual "exchange" read more

IMPRESSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM NICK!!! I'm giving this Newpark Mall Champs location 5 stars, purely based on my amazing customer service experience with Nick. I arrived at the store with a specific shoe in mind - the Air Max 95, color 016... (Side note: Does anyone know where I can find these??) When I entered the store, I didn't even bother looking at the shoe wall, I just went to the cash register and asked Nick if the store carried Air Max 95's. Nick showed me the shoe wall, and sadly, the color I wanted wasn't there. Unlike the 3 other shoe stores I visited previously, Nick provided me with other options to get the shoe as soon as possible. Here are the simple - and appreciated- steps Nick took to make sure I left the store happy (spoiler: even though I left empty-handed): 1. He offered to look up other stores within 100 miles to order the shoes at Newpark, and then pick up on a later date 2. He called the sister company, Footlocker, to see if they carried the shoes (apparently they don't pick up the phone on that side of the mall..) 3. He provided me with all of the online ordering information for my future reference 4. He offered a GENUINE apology when the shoe search came up empty 5. He even broadened the order for in-store pick up search to 100,000 miles away Nick was totally genuine, patient with me, and answered all of my questions on ordering options. What impressed me most was that I actually felt like a valued customer; I appreciated that he didn't just say the common, "No, so sorry - we don't carry those here. It's been years since I stepped in to a Champs location. Once I stepped foot in this store, it was game over for me. I thought I kicked my habit of collecting Jordans, but boy was I wrong! As "Frank the Tank" says it best, "It taste so good once it hits the lips!" I head straight to the Jordans section and stared at all the shoe eye candy. The store was not as busy, so the help here was prompt. They had the shoes and sizes I need which is a plus. Usually, I would be S.O.L when I come looking for these types of shoes. After picking out my shoes, I headed straight to the cashier and had quick transaction. I could say that I spent a good 10 minutes in the store, but will not disclose on how many pairs I bought. Despite Champs Sports never gets my favorite shoes, they're not too bad. This particular location is ok in the customer service dept. The one Asian guy employee always has a smile on his face and has great customer service. He is management material. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the rest. don't go into this store unless you want to be profiled as a thief.. when you literally work hard & purchase everything you own. every time me and my significant other go into the store, I overhear an associate giving our description. like why? we literally never stole. they would get my business but just after the vibe i get, I'd rather walk out. SAME with the stoneridge location. So watch out for that. the store layout in this location makes absolutely no sense either. I have to say I had a great experience here! A pair of shoes were released I called menu stores all around the east bay and all childeren sizes were sold out EVERYWHERE.. I never thought to call champs.. I still decided to go to the mall just to look around and I go into champs one of the employees come up too me asking why i need (holding the shoes in his hands) so I tell him what sue he comes out with my size!!! I was looking for the UA curry ones "splash party" yesterday so I gave champs a ring, they had 2 left in stock for a size 10 and 10.5. I left work on my lunch break just to get a pair.. So when I arrived, I was offered to buy a t-shirt with a pair of shoe, I just told her I only wanted the shoe, came to find out that they were trying to sell it for $180, as I stood there to argue about the price because everyone was selling it for $120.00 plus tax. I walked out after a few minutes trying to understand why they were marked so high, so I went to footlocker across the mall and they had my size for $120.00 plus tax, bought my pair there and walked back to champs to see if they still had the 10.5 left but there was a customer in front of me buying the last pair they had in stock so I stood there to see how much they were charging him for the pair. It seems the price came up to 131 and some change. I asked the ass. Manager why did she charged him $120 but was charging me $180? Well she didn't answer me and walked into the back room so I just left after I told them I was going to contact HQ. I'm not sure what the assistant manager was trying to accomplish but I know I will never shop at that champs again. I've come here twice with my husband looking for shoes. Both time we asked for a size and I don't know if they get side tracked or just straight up forget but they leave us hanging for 10 minutes and we have to ask again. But what do you expect for a mall athletic store right? Hello. I went to the champs store located in Newark, Ca which the mall is called Newpark. This is the day of a Jordan release. My wife liked the color so we ended up going to the mall to purchase. We were immediately greeted and we asked for a big kids Jordan 12 in a size 4 and 4.5. The employee asked why we needed two pairs? I replied that my wife wants to try both on to see which one fits best. The employee said that since its a retro release we are not able to try them on. I asked the salesperson how we would know which would fit correctly and the salesperson said she will be right back with other styles. As she came out, the salesperson brought out another different style of Jordan retro. This is funny since she said originally we can't try retros. It Bothered my wife and I but looked passed it. As we went to the register to buy a size 4.5, we saw a guy trying on the new Jordan release. This made us upset since we were treated differently and what was being said to customer was not consistent. I would like to address this to Champs so this can be immediately fixed. I will be telling my friend and family of this experience so that they are aware of the service this location provides. Very poor selection on women's sports wear. Not sure if it's due to the new year or what but the store has been understaffed the last few times I've come here. I got some tennis shoes as christmas present and just wasn't feeling the color so I came to exchange them. The girl at the register told me to go ahead and look around to see if I liked anything and her attitude was alright, but then the other girl helping out in the shoe department seemed annoyed when I asked her to get me some shoes in a 7 1/2. The first time she came out she came out with nothing in her hands and said that she didn't have either of those shoes in 7 1/2. I then chose another pair and when she came back AGAIN empty handed she said she didn't have those either. I then asked her if she had them on a 7 and she looked at me like if I had just asked her to let me borrow some money or something.... She said she didn't checked on a size 7 because i had asked for a 7 1/2... I don't know who trained this girl but I worked at the shoe department at JC Penney when I was in college and that's like Shoes 101!!!! Check for the availability on a half size up and down on every shoe you get asked on. That's just common sense! Especially when you know certain shoes run small/big then just bring something out... or even a similar style! She was just plain lazy. I went today looking for nice pair of tennis shoes any kind the store had just open and had about 15 ppl in there not many. I was greeted well and as I began to look I found some shoes I'd like to try on. As I saw all the employees that were on the sales floor helping people already I decided to go to the cash register and as one of the employees there for a size. As one employee was checking out a customer and the other employee was just separating the boxes I decided to wait a minute or two for the employee separating the boxes to turn around. He did looked me right in the eyes and turned away from me I thought hmm maybe he doesn't see I need help. So I go up to him and ask for my sizes he said he's bring them out he brought out one shoe. One of the two shoes I had he had told me weren't in my size here so I knew that but the second shoe he brought out in no box just the shoe I decided to leave frustrated and went to foot lockers down the way. read more

Didn't get to write a review at the time. But in June, i had the opportunity to get an interview at champs and even got hired on the spot. Was super stoked until I never got a call back to come in for paper work or nothing . EVEN STILL TILL THIS DAY. Called multiple times and spoke to cole, who was no help. And Rory as well, who supposedly "left" champs stores. Bottom line, I had HORRIBLE customer service, did not help with anything at all. I bought my husband some insoles here as a gift. And unfortunately had to exchange them because they were the wrong kind. The kid who originally sold them to me didn't know much about insoles which was obvious so i just asked for the kind that were the best. Which ended up not being the right ones for my husband. So we return together so that he can get the right kind. There was a lady there that was trying to help my husband decide but every time he asked a question she didn't know the answer. Which was expected. Most of these employees don't know much about that type of product. But there was this one gentlemen that butted in and started to help figure out what was best for my husband. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. I believe his name was Cole if I read his name tag right. He answered the questions with effort and no confusion. He was great.
