My Whirlpool dishwasher was having an issue draining, and it was 7 years old. I called APD and ordered a new pump and motor assembly to replace the entire assembly. I wanted OEM parts made by Whirlpool to ensure quality, so APD was the way to go. The new assembly came in a day later, and APD called me to let me know the part arrived. Our wall heater suddenly stopped working so I called many appliance repair companies on Yelp. Unfortunately, each one was giving me different diagnostic. One of the repair companies told me that If I purchase the valve, he will only charge me for the labor ($800). So, I went to Appliance Parts Distributor to purchase the heater valve. I told the whole story to the gentleman at the counter. I asked for the valve and he told me the cost of valve which was much less than all online stores I checked earlier. Then he told me that prior to purchase, I should contact a plumber to diagnose the problem properly since the heater might need a different part or perhaps none. I asked him if he knows someone and he provided me a local contractor phone #. I called the contractor (Alex) who came to our home and the issue was resolved in a few minutes without purchase of valve or replacing heater which other repair companies advised. The reason I'm writing the whole story is that the gentleman at the counter could easily sold the expensive part (valve) to me but instead he wanted to help by given me a valuable advice. Monday morning walked in at 10ish, I stood there waiting for the guy to call me up over the counter and I noticed he was sorting through a pile of junk mails instead of helping his customers but I wasn't in a hurry so I waited. When it was my turn I showed him the part I needed with the part number on my phone. First thing out of his mouth, we sell genuine GE parts and don't expect to pay that online price at my store, then he went on lecturing about appliances world uses model# instead of part # that I showed him. I really didn't care, I just needed that part to fix my fridge on my day off otherwise I would have ordered it online. I understand the whole online vs store front price. So I said do you have the parts or not and how much?? He quoted me $60 for one of the two parts I was looking for, just for reference amazon had both parts for $18 shipped. So I asked how much for the second parts I was looking for? He went back to the model # vs part # and lecture again. I just walked out and thanked him for his great service, wished him good luck with that genuine part while living in his appliances world!! I could still hear him as I was walking toward my car, really? Did I sign up for a class?? Also did I ever ask for a price match????? They don't accept returns when trying to trouble shoot a problem. I bought a part for a dishwasher. Hooked it up to my dishwasher and it didn't work. Took it off the dishwasher and tried to return it. They didn't accept returns on parts that are opened and brand new. I'm sticking to Amazon, same part was $15 and this place charges $44.00. How sad to arrive at a business that is open to the general public and because you don't know the language they don't want to serve you. I arrived and asked if they spoke Spanish. I understand a little of the language when they talk to me but I don't speak it well. So I just asked if they spoke Spanish and the answer was from a white man, already an adult, approximately 60 years old, who serves the place, he told me that we are in China and I said I speak Chinese. I asked him again if he could help me and he said again in response do you speak Chinese? I told him no and just left when I saw that he didn't want to serve me. I don't know how they don't understand that it's difficult for you when you haven't been here for a long time and you don't know the language, wanting to buy something and because of your language they don't serve you and they treat you that way is really very painful. Great Experience at the Fremont location! Store is setup to keep customer safe with ensuring social distancing is followed and avoiding spreading the virus. My home air conditioning compressor was not kicking on and found out the Run Capacitor went bad. APD had a replacement capacitor in stock and that got my AC at home working again :). I was referred to Brian at the Fremont location by a property manager friend who has worked with Brian quite happily for years. I called and discussed the stove / range I wanted to buy. He said they have had more problems with that brand, but had it in stock. He gave me some suggestions - for a few stoves that cost LESS (!). I went online, looked around and ordered a slightly more upmarket model from the same manufacturer that Brian recommended. What a difference vs. any of the Big Box retailers, Chain Stores or Online Retailers! Brian REALLY knows his stuff. I had a few complications with the potential installation, so he gave me his personal email. I took a few pictures, called back, problem solved. Do not go here! Extremely rude customer service. If you look at the reviews you will notice a pattern of behavior where some customers found the customer service to be excellent while others found it to be horrendous. Honestly the store's management should just put a white only sign. If you aren't going to treat people with respect because of their race, let it be known. It would save all of us some trouble. You can buy most parts you are looking online (with 1 day shipping) for a fraction of the cost. This is especially true for AC capacitors which should be under 20 bucks. This store charged $42 for an AC Capacitor. I found the same for under $15 (including 1 day shipping online) after I left the store. It was my first time fixing the AC unit and I initially went into the store thinking I could ask a couple of questions. But after I had been told to either "buy it of get out" within a minute of walking into the store and asking about the warranty of product, I should have left instead of buying the overpriced capacitor. I was able to disassemble the agitator that wasn't agitating. I put the parts in a plastic bag, took pix of the information tag and the model name, and went down to the store. I'm so very happy with my new Insinkerator garbage disposal I purchased here at this independent store. It is SUPER QUIET! I mean it's so quiet I've had to check to see if it's actually running a couple of times. Because I also have a new ceramic 'farm style' sink, the standard drain hole flange (of any brand) would not fit. Not a problem! These guys are pure gold. Brian worked with me (with more patience than I might have deserved) to test the ignitor module (it was bad), and when that didn't work, stepped me through where to test for continuity and various voltages, going over the schematic with me and explaining the (rather convoluted) circuitry and nomenclature of how gas furnaces work. The only reason I'm giving them five stars is that I can't give them any more. Wow, after reading a few of these reviews, I got to understand that I wasn't the only one feeling mistreated, and verbally abused by the manager behind the counter. I was returning a small part. My wife had already been sent home once because she didn't have the right paperwork to do the return. Here is how it went down: Manager: "what did you do with the packaging?!". I had opened but not used the part. Me: " I don't have it. Does that mean you won't take it back?" Manager: "we will charge you a %25 restocking fee, how do expect me to sell it again?" Me: "No problem, I can pay the restocking fee. You could just tell me that, instead of making me feel like I have done something wrong, or trying to take advantage of you by bringing this part back for a refund". Manager: "You know what, I don't have to take this back at all." Me: I brushed the little part, and the paper work, the whole thing, off the counter. I felt flabbergasted and totally offput that he was using abusive language. I had shopped there in the past, always felt like they were off putting and ignoring me. Made me wait when there were no one else in front me because they were doing something more important behind the counter? It felt unprofessional and somewhat rude. I started to walk out, not knowing what else I could say or do. I'd decided I don't need to take verbal abuse to bring back a part that's worth all of $16. Manager: "Oh so you are a prick too. Do you want to take this outside?!" Me: Kept on walking, this time fearful that not only I was getting verbally abused, but I was going to be beat up too! What an amazing experience we had yesterday when we called APD because our dryer door was not closing properly. We had diagnosed a faulty hinge and thought we needed to replace it or perhaps the whole door. Traci answered the phone and could not have been more helpful. We gave her the model number and she pulled up a schematic and identified the hinge part we needed. She quoted us a price for the hinge but offered to send us the schematic she was using. Once we looked at it we realized the door came apart to expose the hinge. Once we did that we realized that the bolt that attached the door had come loose. We re-attached the bolt, put the door back on and it was perfect. So thank you, Traci, for being so wonderful and even though we didn't buy the part, we will forever use APD for any appliance needs we have in the future. read more

How many parts shops open on the weekends? Well these guys do and were extremely helpful for my emergency installation project in Fremont. They have all parts and equipment in their shop for heating, laundry, kitchen, and others goods. I needed a new wall heater for an apartment install ASAAP. 9am on the spot they opened and by 9.15 i was gone out the door loaded with a new Willams wall furnace and gas flex and parts. You know, i am all about the small business and try to spend my moneys with them, but it's hard in this economic times to always do this, because as we all know and are all penny pinching. My point is that the price here was cheaper than Home Depot and Lowels. Gas flex at HD / Lowels $35 and shut off $20 Gas flex here $15 and shut off $10 WOW! New heater from HD or Lowels $550 New heater from APD $440 So you tell me why we should not support small business! Plus what would you have done with all that money you just saved Good guys, they have access to your product you need. Just do everyone a favor if you have a issue and need parts . 1- get your make and model and serial # of the unit that is broken 2- best is to bring the part that is broke with you, with model and serial 3- take good pictures of the data plate and part broken. 4- remember, good information will get you best results 5- a bad attitude never gets you anywhere 6- if you don't know what your doing, please have a pro do it. people can get hurt. read more

I love love love this place! Great advice! Saved me money today and helped me repair my refrigerator! BY. MY. SELF!!!! I was going to try to replace the relay (because it was the cheapest repair). Brian (I hope that's right? Brian?) told me I'd be wasting my money (after I told him what my refrigerator was doing). He said I'd need the control board and he was right! I fought the traffic to get there before closing and once there we opened the box and found this part was a used broken part. They stated hat they got this part from San Leandro. To my surprise they were all over it as soon as I walked in the door. I didn't get the name of the silver haired guy who took care of the problem. I went to this store to purchase an oven element the first thing I noticed the customer and the grey headed guy were not wearing a mask so I waited outside until the customer left. I go in point out I need an oven element and ask why he doesn't wear a mask and point out it protects him and me. I did not tell him I have CLL. That's when he started speaking agreessively called me a jackass and said he didn't need the stress.I'm sorry to say that I said F you and I can shop elsewhere. Leave,go to my car to put the element in the back of the car. I'm getting into the driver seat and he comes out calls me a pussy and slams my car door into my leg. The old man deserved an beat down but I would have to much to lose if I delivered one. I know a ton of people in the trades and repair business and am going advise them all to stay away from this business and I recommend you do the same.Also,let me note that when I was in business I had to stop recommending this appliance store to my customers because of the high percentage of complaints of rudeness.
