I travel for my job throughout the country and have eaten at many Indian restaurants but i have to say that i have never eaten at a restaurant where i love everything at the buffet. The food is FRESH and absolutely DELICIOUS. The only negative feedback i have is the staff. They dont know how to smile....BUT that still does not take away from the experience as the food more than makes up for that aspect. If you are reading this post, dont think. I really enjoyed the lunch buffet here that we visited for a work outing. The menu is all vegetarian so don't expect the typical chicken tikka but the options are very good. I wanted to come here the other night (Black Friday Night) to find out what all the hype was about. On many occasions people have told me what wonderful food Chand Palace has. We walked into a packed restaurant, generally a sign of good food? At this moment I realized that this place was BYOB and I had forgotten to bring a bottle of wine. Immediately after, to my disappointment, I found out that this night was buffet night ONLY, and no ordering from the menu would be taken. I'm not positive if this is the normal option for Friday nights or if it was specific to this night. For me, buffets usually don't have the best quality food. Sometimes I fear, especially in the scenario where restaurants own catering halls, that they use some of the leftovers of the prior nights party, reheat and throw it into their buffet, but its okay if its a $9.99 lunch option. This evening the buffet was priced at $20, so I assumed the food must be somewhat decent, better quality than lunch and more options. They are a good place for Vegetarians. It has a lot of Vegetarian option. What i like mostly about this place is they have something called Lotus petals on some friday buffets. Its simply the best item. Rest all items are typical Indian restaurant style. read more

I also grew up in Parsippany and have experienced its down fall. Its hay days were when they were the only Indian cuisine in town. Right now it is in every alley and they have not woken up to the fact. Their decor is exactly the same it was 10 years ago. But then that is a minor point. Consider this: $15.00 for a Veg lunch buffet? Service charge of 15% on top of that for a buffet? = $17.25 per person. Minato down the road starts to sound very good at this point with their outstanding selection, including sushi. Ok, forget the price factor or buffets. I ordered off the menu yesterday - 2 dal tarka, two kulchas. The dal was insipid and most tasteless, and supposed kulchas were actually baturas. Guess they figured no one would know the difference. ok, back to the price factor, 34 bucks for 2 dal tarka and 2 baturas! Go figure. They offered a Groupon lately in desperation. Loosers, don't they know Groupon is at half its IPO value. Does CP want to go the same way? Wake up Chand Palace, or soon you will be a relic hut. read more

One of worst places to have Indian food. I used to be a fan but off late restaurant's food quality has gone worse for e.g they can't even make a decent dal (lentil). We went over the holiday week and to my surprise the basic food item like dal was not cooked well, lentils were at the bottom and water on top, who makes such a dal ?? They lack service no one came asking for fresh breads, all the naan bread was cold as if kept there for hrs. I'm for sure not going there again. read more

Chand Palace is definitely great quality food - one of the best quality Indian restaurants in Northern Jersey. I think they've mastered the balance of good taste and quality. I especially like all of the appetizers/chutneys/dessert offered in the buffet. I give Chand 4 stars out of 5 only because I would like to see more variety in their vegetables on their buffet. They have some great quality vegetable dishes on the menu - some of them don't ever seem to be offered on the buffet. If they could change that they would be the perfect restaurant! read more

I have nothing bad to say about this place. Their lunch and dinner buffets are incredible, with the largest variety of items I have ever seen in any buffet, Indian or otherwise. Not to mention, I don't think I have ever eaten at a buffet where every items tastes as good as it was ordered straight off the menu. The food is delicious, and the service is incredible. Summary - Did not honor A la carte although confirmed on phone prior to arrival, Pushing guests to finish up dinner as restaurant is closing for the day, saying to head same bread as it will go waste, clearing up buffet dishes before people can finish Detail - We were a party of 9 Adults and 2 children. Called in the evening before going asking if they have A la carte (we did not want buffet). We were told that A la carte menu will be served, and last sitting is at 9:45 pm. We reached at 9:20 pm, and were told that they serve buffet only, and will not honor A la carte. So forced to take buffet although we were told A la carte will be available. When asked for fresh roti as the existing one got cold, we were told that they will warm the existing one and re-serve. While eating, kids had to go to bathroom, delaying a few adults to take the meal. We were constantly being asked that kitchen is closing, and hurry up. One of the sweet dish (Rasmalai) finished completely, and was not replenished. In the hospitality industry, this is not a customer friendly experience at all. In summary, we were given poor service, not honoring their word of A la carte, and forced to finish as they are closing. Guess what - they lost a customer, we are never going back. read more

I am never disappointed with the food here. There is a nice variety and food is fresh. It can get very busy on weekends so I prefer week day trips. The only negative to this place is that Ive encountered the buffet not being fully ready until about 30 minutes after they open. The staff is attentive to refilling water. Dinner buffet here used to be a delight but in my last 3-4 visits, it has been a lot disappointing. I went with my family and we decided to order off the menu. The manager (who wears black coat) was rude and kept on insisting that we take the buffet. He said "All you want in menu is in buffet and if we order off the menu they cannot serve for 30-40 minutes as its buffet rush hour. Later, I again visited with my friends (they wanted indian buffet). we were 30mins before the closing time. We inquired and they allowed as to eat confirming that we would be served. But after 20minutes the manager (again who wears blackcoat) started to repeatedly ask us to finish fast as its closing time. They just did not let us eat and we ended up getting up without having full meal. It a such a spoiler. This one particular manager (wears black coat), he is such a pain. He would nag you, be rude with you if you do-not take buffet. As if his pay comes only out of buffets. I order Chole-Bhatura and he was rude to me and said "its in the buffet eat it there, why order otherwise". I wish to know what day is his weekly off so that I can go there and enjoy the meal without being nagged or troubled. This place is loosing its charm because of bad staff and I would recommend not to go there unless you like being nagged and troubled by the manager while you eat. Also, I would request the management to take notice that the manager who wear black coat be taught some server manners and politeness. read more

We have been dining at Chand Palace for over 20 years, and the quality and service have been consistently excellent all these years. Chand Palace is one of the very few restaurants that I know of, where the ownership and management has stayed in tact for so long. They catered our daughter's recent Engagement and Wedding, and the food and service was not only impeccable, but was appreciated by all our guests - Indian and American, even though the menu was entirely vegetarian. Vishal was such a pleasure to work with and a great help in planning the menu, and the staff they had at the Wedding took care of our every need! It was a first time for us , Service : The service was fast and no complains , always someone to greet and sit you . Food always refilled in the buffet if run out , plates were removed quickly and water glasses refilled without asking . Food : Buffet is offering a lot of dishes starting from snacks,soup and salad and ending with varieties of desserts . For someone who just wants to eat and has a great appetite works well. But ,The quality is not as good as number of dishes offered at the buffet . I looked into the pictures and looks like same food offered on regular basis and gravy looks red which makes food boring .They used a lot frozen corn and green peas .Potatoes were in a lot of dishes too . I would like to see more different vegetables like mushrooms ,eggplants ,cabbage ,bell papers ,butter squash ,beets .Spinach with mushroom and not with frozen corn or with chick peas ,Eggplant with bell papers ,dal with carrot . Not creative . I hope my review will reach Chand Palace and will bring more customers to the place to enjoy Indian Vegetarian food . DH and I had dinner there on Saturday with a group of friends. We were not aware it was vegetarian before we got there - but it hardly mattered. The food was excellent, and the service was impressive. There were 10 of us, desperately seeking non-hotel food (we were in town for a local convention) and all of us were in costume. I think we called a half-hour before we got there, and the staff not only had a table ready, but never batted an eye or treated us any differently. And yes, that is saying something. The portions, as has been mentioned before, were plentiful, and was able to try some new things without being distracted by the usual meat dishes I "always order" when out for Indian. I had the Sag Paneer (delicious) and DH had some wonderful thing with lentils that I am kicking myself for not writing down the name of. Even the dedicated carnivores in the group enjoyed the meal. I really wanted to give this place 4.5 stars. Honestly the food is excellent. The variety in the buffet catered to all kinds of palates. The sweets were especially delicious, my favorite being the Rasmalai. Wow. But then, as is with most Indian restaurants, the band of surly waiters and incompetent managers ruined everything. I wanted to return all the wonderful food I just ate. I had a problem with making the reservation. Then we arrive and they sit us at a table where my chair and the chair behind me have just enough space between. This is not an excuse for every single staffer in there to repeatedly knock into my chair. LEARN TO APOLOGIZE. JUST BECAUSE I AM AN INDIAN AT AN INDIAN RESTAURANT DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO BE A JERK. All the man in the suit had to do was say sorry after I asked to stop bumping in to my chair (for the 7th time). That is all you had to do. But no, instead I was told that I should have moved the chair. That I should have moved the table (which would have prevented half the seats at the adjacent table from being accessible - and there were old people there. I will not do that.) There were also several excuses about the crowd, etc etc. ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS SAY SORRY. That simple, customer service gesture would have guaranteed you a really great, cash tip. Instead, we left you the standard and put it on the card. I didn't even want to leave that because the guy in the suit and two more waiters bumped into my chair again, causing me to spill yet again. Plus, the chai tasted like you made it from some pre mix with some burnt milk. I find myself torn between the really high quality of your dishes and your absolutely ridiculous way I was treated. Sadly, I will probably not return for two simple reasons: a basic apology and a proper cuppa. read more
