If the owners are reading this, which I hope they are, because I really want to like this place. They are really nice people, but the food quality needs drastic improvement. Yes, it's a nice spread, but as the evening wears, they starting cutting back on the buffet quality, and if you they think customer's don't notice, they are so wrong. First and foremost, this food needs to be better quality, you can't have everything fried and greased up in this day and age, which is most of their fare. The pani puri has been replaced by alu papdi chaat, sometimes, once in a while, you will get to see fruit chaat if you went in early enough, but just one dish and back to it. Too much salt, too much oil, that is my main gripe. We still go here sometimes, because we like the spread, but almost everything has the same problem, dripping in oil and salt. This was definitely a disappointing experience. Been there many times over the years but not for the past 2-3 years. I like their sister restaurant of the same name in Piscataway. But this location disappointed big time - the buffet was pathetic, not of quantity, but quality. The only saving grace was the dahi wada and soup. The masala idli was old, the vegetables were the usual oily (so that it can be preserved for the next day!), the naans were not fresh unless you begged the servers to bring some straight to your table. Make sure you check your bill. We had several additional charges. Five of us ate in the restaurant but then we also ordered a large to go order. They included gratuity for four people on the entire bell. Not just the portion that was eaten in the restaurant. Also, nowhere does it state the gratuity is included for a party of four. Very strange practice. We almost tipped again but luckily we took time to examine the check. The bill seemed high so I thought it was a good idea to double check. Never Again. I eat Indian food several times per week, and have never had the discomfort I've had after eating the food from Chand. I've eaten Chand's food three times. The first time I had lunch from the buffet. The second time, I attended an event that they catered. The third time I attended an event at their banquet hall. All three times, I have been sick as a dog. Maybe its the amount of ghee, or maybe they just put something in the food that I'm allergic to, but I spend two days in digestive hell (while my boyfriend spends one uncomfortable hour in the bathroom-seemingly a milder form of my reaction). And beside the blinding stomach pain and subsequent constipation, I don't find their food to be tasty at all (I'm looking at you, pile of chewy red goo labeled "Lotus"). The food here tastes quite close to authentic Indian food. The highlight of this place for me was that they had Indo-Chinese on their menu. I ordered dahi puri, dry Gobi manchurian, chili garlic rice, and vegetable cutlets for take out. The cutlets were bland, but everything else was pretty good. I have been to lunch buffet multiple times and everytime I find it delicious. I normally like to eat non-veg when I dine out but this all vegetarian buffet is an exception. I have treated many out of state friends here and so far everyone found it delectable. I recommend it to you all. Though the price is bit on higher side but it's still worth. Best vegetarian north Indian food in the area. I am from Delhi and I know good North Indian food.The chefs are clearly from northern part of Indian and their culinary skills are partial towards Punjabi dishes. Their South Indian and Indo Chinese fare is average and not worth wasting time on. I have been eating here 3 to 4 times a month over the last 2 years and have never come out dissatisfied. I guess I know what the chef makes well and stick to that. The buffet is always good with great choices like Paani puri, samosas, pakoras, paneer makhani, palak malai, dum aloo (one of the best that one can get anywhere), and their best dish Chana Bhatura - I am telling you guys this is even better than most Delhi restaurants, ok ok Haldiraam can't be beat but this is as good as that. Desserts are pretty good too including Gulab Jamun, mango Kheer which are my favorites. The guys serving and managing the place are pretty nice and always greet and serve me with a smile. The prices are slightly on the expensive side but well worth it. Always a good place to turn to when craving for quality Indian food. Keep up the nice work guys! read more

Favorite Indian restaurant in the area so far. I went here for my sister's birthday and it was my first time trying Indian food. I loved how it was a buffet and just because it was vegetarian made me feel as though I was eating healthier. The dosas that came out were definitely my favorite and the lhasi was cold and refreshing. The food on the buffet was just as good with the amount of spice i like. WOW. This is probably the best Indian food I've had in North Jersey. We went on a Saturday night and weren't impressed with the shopping mall facade when we pulled up, nor the restaurant itself. But the negatives end there and they're so minimal that it's still 5 stars. We opted for the buffet rather than order off of the menu and oh my goodness was it delicious. The vegetable malai kofta was superb, and my husband loved the cauliflower. BYOB is also always a plus, and the servers were attentive and helpful. We ate until we were stuffed and only spent slightly over $30 for the two of us. We will be back! read more

What?! This place was terrible. No option to order off our the menu and only buffet option which had only one item worth meat, not too mention, all veggie dishes were horrible. Several bites, I had to spit out large pieces I can only assume were spices of since sort but large and may I mention, chocking hazards. The ambience was odd with random Indian videos and movies playing in a stuffy setting with too many waiters in suits who barely looked at you. Had to ask for the check although hardly anyone was there and numerous waiters around. I'm all about Indian buffets, but this once just didn't cut it. I felt sick immediately after dinner. I can't say that I loved this restaurant as much as the others who have posted comments. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. The manager is very professional and wears a suit. The waiters are also quite professional. The goal is obviously to set a high-level atmosphere, and that's exactly what it is. The food itself is fairly standard as compared to other Indian restaurants. I was there for the dinner buffet. All the items in the buffet were very mediocre. Nothing particularly fancy, and nothing particularly tasty. I ended up eating a plate of food, but didn't get up for seconds. It just didn't interest me.
