We had the (1) steamed dumplings with pork and chive; (2) Biang Biang (spicy hand-ripped noodles); and braised beef noodle soup with handmade noodles. They were all delicious. This restaurant is not very big but has comfortable seating. It is located inside a large shopping area thus there is plenty of parking. Service is friendly and efficient. ChangAn Kitchen is a solid spot for Shanxi-style food and a good option for a family meal. We went with the whole family and were able to try a good variety of dishes. My parents had the beef noodle soup and pork wontons, I went with the signature biang biang noodles, my wife liked the liang pi, and the kids got the crispy Chinese burger and Hong Kong-style shrimp wontons. They even have jian bing guo zi available off menu, which was a nice bonus. Overall, everything came out well and the flavors were on point. What do people of Chino Hills deserve to be so lucky and blessed with not one but two Changan Kitchen. This 2nd location in CH is smaller and has more of a cafe ambiance but don't let that deceive you as they serve some of the most authentic and tasty dishes like the Biang Biang Noodle, which is a must try as it's super good IMHO. Everything is freshly made from scratch and prepared at the kitchen upon your order, such as the hand pulled noodle that has that chewy and addictive texture. This location has a more limited menu but also has a few items not offered at the other location on Soquel Canyon. They don't serve alcohol yet as if this writing in Jan 2026. read more

Really enjoyed most of the foods we ordered here. The lamb dumplings were super umami and the wagyu beef burger flaky and a good meat to pastry ratio. The food came out fast and hot, and I love that there's so much parking out front. The noodles weren't too salty. My only qualm is that it should have been noted the wontons came in a shrimp based soup (I'm allergic) so a heads up would have been helpful and the cold noodles could have come with some green onions or cilantro to cut through the greasiness of the noodles. read more

Let me introduce you to my newest neighborhood gem where it tastes like a Chinese grandma made the food just for you. Think hidden gem, no frills, super casual, but already so well loved. We were recommended to try their famous pancake crepe and my eyes lit up when I saw you can do a duck filling, and it did not disappoint. It's savory with the hoisin sauce and has a surprising crunchy element to it, the texture is INSANE and it all works so well together. Here are my other favorites: Beef potstickers, Shrimp and pork steamed dumplings--they have a whole separate menu just for dumplings--thiccc, chewy hand-pulled noodles that you can do a dry version with a numbing spicy sauce, or in beef broth with the most TENDER beef. This place is a new Chinese restaurant in Chino Hills. They have a lot of Xi'an food (dumplings, potstickers, hand-pulled noodles). The food is very homey and my Chinese friend said it's like what her mom cooks. The potstickers are my favorite. The soup dumpling was good too. We stopped by on Sunday afternoon, just my wife and I and we had some mixed feelings about this place based on what we ordered. Just getting the ambiance out of the way, it's fairly standard. It's clean, has a cute sign, and the service was quick and polite. We ordered the Biang Biang Mian, some pork pot stickers, and a pork rou jia muo. I'm going to use a 10 point scale for food today just to be a bit more precise to how I feel. Biang Biang Mian - This was the first dish served up and we had high expectations for this one. On the plus side the flavor profile was solid. It had some fragrant chili oil, some sweetness, and a bit of a vinegar bite to it that all balanced well. This was good and fit our tastes well. The noodles on the other hand were not quite what we were expecting. So they were wide and definitely looked hand pulled (the noodles had irregular shapes and thickness, which is fine), but didn't really have the chew I was looking for. I wonder if they either used different flour, or didn't beat it up enough, but it wasn't as bouncy as we would have liked. Still a good tasting dish. 7/10 Pork Rou Jia Mou (sandwich) - This one was the best of the three. The pork was tender and tasted like pork and their bing was good. It was what it was supposed to be. Think Chinese carnitas on a crispy, flaky pastry and you're pretty much there. We added condiments to it, the ground pepper and chili oil really kicked it up a notch and we also used our biang biang mian sauce. If you eat it as is without any adjustments, it might be on the bland side, but it's still good juicy pork. 8/10 Pork Potstickers - This was honestly the weakest dish of the three on the day. For me, the best potstickers are ones where you enjoy all of the components both separately and together. If the meat falls out of a potsticker, you still want to eat the crispy wrapping by itself. The wrapping on these potstickers were fine, but good enough to eat like chips. They needed a solid center to make them great, and we didn't quite get that today. The flavor was fine, but the texture was off. There was almost a powdery feel to it. It wasn't dry per se, but had no bounce. It threw both of us off. I think it would be better if they velvetted their filling more, but it could be a regional thing or a family preference. 5/10 All in all, I think this place has good flavors, but the textures (aside from everything in the sandwich) weren't what we normally look for. If I were in the area and wanted a snack, I'd order the rou jia mou again. Worth a try to see if it fits your palate. read more

The environment of the restaurant is clean, but the food was a letdown. There aren't many options on the menu. The beef noodles were bland and lacked any real flavor. The dry noodles were just average; they didn't come with any meat, yet were priced almost the same as the meat options, which doesn't feel fair. Also, the meat used in the noodles seemed to be the same as what was inside the pork/beef buns, processed and not authentic. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. We had a great meal at Chang An Kitchen! We ordered the handmade noodles with stewed pork, cheese potstickers, and the crispy Chinese pancake with egg. Every dish came in a large portion--we couldn't even finish them and ended up packing a full box to take home. The dumplings are average... not bad. The skin is really thick, but the meat is ok. Service is ok. Beware, we came here with 3 adults, 2 kids and an infant, and they hit us with 18% service charge. Meanwhile, the dishes and utensils were dirty, the AC was not on so it was 80+ degrees inside and we were all sweating and the bathroom was filthy.
