This is my first ever visit to Chino Hills location. Yi Mei started with a tiny corner restaurant within HK supermarket in Rowland Heights years ago. They have since expanded to San Gabriel, Chino Hills, Monrovia. Chino Hills location is the newer one with modern decor, clean and seems to offer more items. It offers plenty of seats. Service is friendly, but they are very shorthanded. The kitchen and counter will have to help clean up. It's around 9am, I ordered iced soy milk which is premade, you just grab from refrigerator. It tastes good, but fairly standard. I think hot is the way to go for fresh ones. And for breakfast I picked salty rice ball with pickled vegetable; for $7.50 this is more traditional type. And more expensive. It's wrapped with soft and warm glutinous rice, crispy chinese donuts, pork floss, preserved mustard greens(extra cost), preserved radish. Taste is more savory. They offer and push for purple rice type, I will try it next time. My suggestions are to install order kiosks at all locations. And have help with cleanup and other tasks of location is busy. I didn't have picture of inside with tables as the tables are still not clean yet except for my tiny table. read more

Had a super craving for a, "Fan Tuan," or Rice Roll and looked up for something reliable that's relatively close by. Glad I found this location and got my Fan Tuan! I got it with the purple rice for a slightly healthier alternative than the standard white rice. The purple rice is 50 cents more, but definitely worth it. The roll itself came with the Chinese Doughnut, Pork Rousung, or dry shredded pork, and the pickled vegetables. The roll was totally delicious and was a great snack to carry around. The regular roll is $6.75 before tax. They have a lot of frozen and refrigerated items, that includes frozen dumplings and chilled soy milk. They also have a lunch menu here of different Taiwanese-style soups and rice plates. Will have to try it next time. They accept cards here with a $20 minimum purchase, or just bring cash. We passed this place often but just didn't think to try and now we are glad we did. We placed our order at the register and they brought the food to you. Simple setup. You can also purchase other pastry items from the table. Or take home items from the fridge/freezer, like dumplings, pig ear, baos, etc. The lady at the register was very nice and recommended we try to the hot soy milk which we did because it reminded me of my dad because that was his favorite breakfast item. Came here for the rice rolls early morning. Took 15 minutes for them to make it and they require minimum $20 spend to use credit card. Spacious restaurant with seats inside and outside. They have pastries, other Taiwanese breakfast items, soy milk, and frozen items here. I got the salty purple rice rolls and it was pretty big. Came with crispy Chinese donut in the middle with some pork floss. Good item for some carbs. Option to add protein in it. Egg or beef. Soymilk was ok. Got sweetened hot soy milk but they didn't mix it leaving it sweet on the bottom. Looks like they have daily deals for select items depending on the day of the week. I've been wanting to try this rice roll since I've seen it on TikTok! And it was pretty good I wish they weren't out of sausage so I could've added sausage to it. But it was very flavorful. The store had a section of refrigerators that had so many amazing taiwanese foods for purchase from dumplings to bao buns. So many things I wanted to buy them all. The restaurant was clean lots of seating on the inside. The service was mediocre not really helpful, definitely didn't get the warm welcoming feeling I have gotten in so many other restaurants. read more

Was missing and craving Taiwanese breakfast so we came to Yi Mei. Food came out fast. All of the staff were super sweet and friendly, they did not skimp on the rice roll. You have to add the pickles!! The radish cake with egg was so good and came with a delightful sauce. The salty soy milk brought me right back to Taiwan, make sure to add some vinegar and chili oil to spice it up. We could've went without the XLBs but they were pretty good as well. 4 stars for the overall experience and service, although the items I tried were closer to a 3. Don't get me wrong I love gluten and bread but this just isn't the type of breakfast I naturally gravitate toward. Overall, everything tasted a bit bland and one-dimensional. I was especially excited to try the rice roll (subbed with purple rice), but I really wish the rice had been softer. The pork floss was the only flavor that really stood out, and unfortunately the rest of the dish felt pretty muted. I also tried the sesame balls and sesame bread, which were decent but nothing particularly memorable. The peanut milk wasn't really for me either it was far too thick and didn't go down very smoothly. Overall, it's not the kind of breakfast I'd personally crave again, but I'm still glad I tried it. I'd be open to coming back to try some of the hot dishes another time. There's ample indoor seating, and they also have some outdoor seating available. read more

She was incredibly patient, attentive, and polite throughout the whole process. She never made me feel like I was being difficult, and I really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Great service and a very clean spot. Just a heads up, there is a $20 minimum to use a credit card. I ordered the Fan Tuan (rice roll) and the Taiwanese tamale. I was not the biggest fan of the tamale, but the Fan Tuan was excellent. They'll ask whether you want white or purple rice, and either works. You can also customize what goes inside. It already comes with pork floss, which adds a nice fluffy texture. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the fried bread inside gave it a slight crunch. Service was friendly and quick, and the place looked pretty clean overall. * Purple Rice Roll (4.5/5): I really liked the filling-to-rice ratio here. Some rice rolls have too much rice and get boring, but this one had a great balance of pork floss, Chinese donut, and Taiwanese pickles. I just wish the rice was a bit softer. * Taiwanese Tamale (5/5): This tasted just like the ones we had in Taiwan! Soft sticky rice with flavorful braised pork -- super comforting and delicious. * Fried Bread (4/5): Crispy outside and soft inside, very similar to what we've had in Vietnam, China, and Taiwan. Wow, I believe this place is under new management. I visited today because my son has been craving Taiwanese sausage rice. There is usually an unpleasant female employee there but today we were met with another female employee, very friendly and hospitable. We dined in and sat at the booth and were brought menus. I looked at the menu and it looked fairly new and prices appeared to have gone down. I was expecting smaller portions but when our food came out, I was delighted to see the generous portions of taiwanese sauce and rice. I also ordered 2 taiwanese sausages on the side and one of their steamed taiwanese tamales with egg. We enjoyed our food and service was great. Food was fresh, tasty , sausages with the perfect sear on the outside and succulent pieces of fat. We were not hassled for a tip and leaving a tip wasn't mentioned at all , just mentioning this because I read other reviews that had a bad experience. Maybe they turned a new leaf? Will def be back to enjoy more of our favorite taiwanese dishes. read more

Taiwanese breakfast or food is just so hard to come across but thank goodness Yi Mei remains a staple throughout socal. So here we go, Yi Mei, where you can enjoy some classic Taiwanese breakfast. So for starters, get a fan tuan (rice roll), egg omelette, and savory soy milk. They're what make the breakfast experience. If you got room for anything else, go for it. The rice roll is nicely packed with fried dough, pork floss, and picked vegetables so I got no complaints. The egg omelette is so light and savory I could eat 2 of these if I could. The garlic soy sauce it comes with really elevates the experience. Lastly, the savory soy milk was my fiance's favorite. It looks messy but it's just comfort food through and through. So what more is there to say? Get their breakfast, otherwise I'm sure their lunch/dinner options are good too including beef stew noodle soup and oyster pancake. read more

It was not good. I got the purple rice roll, the beef roll, & soy/peanut milk. I absolutely hated all three items. It's definitely not for me. Maybe for others but definitely not for my liking. I've had beef rolls at other food establishments & I enjoyed them but not here. The wrapping on the beef roll was soggy at the bottom & the rest tasted stale. The meat was poor quality. It was my second visit here and boy was it DRASTICALLY different! I was unaware that you could customize your rice roll with so many things! You can add in a stewed egg or a scallion egg, you can even add in beef and pickled mustard. Originally when I had the normal rice roll, the portions just didn't fit well, but after adding other items, the rice roll was near perfection!! The only downside is the rice was a bit mushy that day. The wonton noodle soup blew me out the water! I had very mild to low expectations as wonton noodle soup is normally just a comforting soup, but I LOVED the flavors in this one. The noodles were like a combo of udon and ramen texture/taste. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm definitely ordering it again. The wontons were seasoned very nicely and the broth felt like it cleansed my soul. Life-changing! Super disappointing today (7/19/2026). Drove 19 miles from Corona to have good hot doujiang (soy milk). It was super watered down--virtually whitish water. I have a facet at home; I didn't need to drive nearly 20 miles for four bowls of water. I did complain to the waitress. She took my concern to the back and came back saying we should just come back some other time. I should have sent the doujiang back and refused to pay for it, but my wife didn't want to make a scene or offend her friends on their staff. Being cheap is going to kill the business. read more

We were seated quickly, and the staff is so amazing here and so attentive. All very delicious just how I remembered it. I believe they have specific bfast deals on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Their lunch entrees look good and are priced reasonably too, I'll come back next time for it ! Being Taiwanese, I LOVE that there's a Taiwanese breakfast spot in my town. It's our easy go-to. We call in our order, and then run in to pick up, with the car engine still on. The ladies there are super efficient and the food is made fresh after you order. Our go-to dishes: rice roll with purple rice and egg added, radish cakes and radish cakes with egg, tortilla with egg, pork belly steam bun sandos, sliced beef shank in flakey sando, peanut/rice milk, soy milk (cold sweet, hot non-sweet and salty) and the long fried Chinese donuts! The sweet garlic sauce is fire! I put it on everything, but it's really for the radish cakes. They also have prepped foods or frozen dumplings to purchase for cooking at home. They are great for dinner or lunch when you don't feel like cooking. We get the radish cake log to fry up at home or the frozen leek and pork dumplings to boil up at home. This spot gets busy on the weekends, so if you don't want to wait, I would suggest calling in ahead of time as I always see people sitting around and waiting. read more
