I have driven from vegas to this location 3 times because i cannot stop craving it. i wish there was a location in vegas! the food is absolutely scrumptious. everything is so flavorful! i highly recommend this place! please open a location in vegas!
I liked the concise and simple menu. Suggested food selection was great - tonkatsu. Shrimp tempura was freshly made. The sauces and condiments made the food tastier and yummier.
A classic spot! I love their beef sukiyaki udon, and they make their noodles fresh! Their lunch line system works well so that you can add any toppings that you'd like along with any tempura, dumplings, croquettes. It's a casual spot.
Marugame Udon is popping up everywhere which is great. I do enjoy their freshly made udon plus quality toppings and tasty appetizers. I was in the Chino Hills neighborhood. I saw them and had to pay them a visit. It's located in the Rolling Ridge Plaza. Self-ordering kiosk is towards the back on the left side. If you're dining in, you'll want to walk to the right upon entry to place your order. Good and comfortable interior dining space. Condiments and water station needed some attention and care unfortunately. I used the kiosk to order. Got two udon bowls (Nikutama Udon and Creamy Broth Udon), a few appetizers (sweet potato, pumpkin tempura, tamagoyaki tempura, potato croquette), and one calamansi drink. Everything was very fresh. Taste and flavors were on point. Appetizers were in good size. Well done! Since I did take-out, I didn't have any interactions with the staff. My order was placed at the pick-up shelf. The wait wasn't too long. One small observation, the packaging could have been better. I asked for utensils and they were all over the place in the bag as though they were just thrown in there. When you see the photo, you'll understand what I mean. I'm usually not picky about this stuff, but it would have been nice if the staff offered some attention and care when packaging. Hence, 4 stars! Will I be back? Sure I will be back. Perhaps dine-in is best next time.
I was expecting a comforting, piping hot bowl on a cold night, but ended up pretty disappointed. I've had this in Japan and was really looking forward to eating here, but it didn't come close. The nikutama udon was only warm rather than hot, and the broth tasted overly salty with a slight sweetness. I added green onions and flakes, but the flakes quickly became soggy in the soup. I also ordered crispy katsu, which was actually quite fresh and tender, and helped give an extra star. I also tried a battered chickenc tempura shrimp, and battered sausage that was cold and seems left out for a while. I can't say the meal was enjoyable.
Went to Marugame Udon with a few friends and had to try this SoCal location since I love going to the one in SF. This was the closest one to us, and it definitely lived up to what I was expecting. I tried their new Bolognese udon, and it did not disappoint. It had a really rich, savory tomato flavor that paired surprisingly well with the chewy udon noodles. It's a little different from the usual udon dishes, but that's what made it stand out. I would definitely get it again, especially since udon is one of my favorite types of noodles. My friends got the Nikutama udon, which was also really good. You can tell the udon is freshly made, with that perfect chewy texture. We also grabbed some of their tempura sides, and they were crispy, light, and super satisfying. The workers were really nice, and the whole setup runs pretty smoothly even when it gets busy. The space itself is pretty spacious with lots of seating, so it's great for groups. It has a casual, lively feel with people coming in and out, grabbing trays, and building their meals, which adds to the overall experience.
This is a Lunch Line style service where you get your tray and request your food that is made to order, and once you order you can select some tempura add ons, I appreciate the fact you can request freshly made tempura if you'd like. The food was flavorful and very reminiscent of my time in Japan. The sauce station could have used a bit more attention since it was pretty busy and picked over, but over all it was a great experience and the food was again very delicious ohh and affordable which we love! The tables were well spaced apart and the seats were comfortable. I liked that while you could bus your own table there was still staff coming around offering to pick up your trays and finished trays for you. I have been to one other Marugame and enjoyed my experience there as well.

The udon noodles were perfectly chewy and there's a lot in a regular sized portion. The flavor is there and the green onions and tempura flakes give it an extra crunch. My only con is I wish the soup was hotter. A big star of the show is the tempura! There are many options of different vegetables and meats freshly fried. Its crunchy, its good, its amazing. Don't skip it!
We LOVE to come to this plaza as a pit stop on the way home. I like to grab some OMOMO matcha tea before heading home. This time we noticed that there was a brand new MARUGAME UDON that opened up right next door... NIKUTAMA UDON: 10/10 It was very Savory and featured simmered beef, onions and a soft-boiled egg. It was perfection in a bowl and the portions were big enough for 2 people to share with us what we did... SHRIMP TEMPURA: 10/10 It came out nice and hot. It also has a very nice and crispy texture in the outside while preserving the soft texture of the shrimp inside... SERVICE: It was mostly self service. You just have to get in line, tell them what you want to order and pay at the cashier towards the end of the line. Then, you just find an open table to sit at... My first time having Marugame Udon was in Hawaii and I always wished they would open up in California. Looks like my wish came true and I believe they are opening up more locations all over the country!!! KEEP ROCKN MARUGAME UDON!!!

The noodles are pre-cooked and hang around a while. They can be cold.
We went again recently & I would give it a 4.5 stars. The noodles were nicely al dente & the broth was unctuous & flavorful as usual. The green onions & crispy tempura flakes all add to the texture & flavor. My dad & I both felt like the broth isn't hot enough. The dining room is kept at a pretty chilly temperature so by the time you pick your tempura sides, drinks & get down to the cashier, then grab utensils, napkins, dipping sauce before sitting down, the broth is almost luke warm. I like my noodle soups piping hot f steaming.
Got the kitsune which is my go to. The process is very easy: you go down the line telling the server which noodle broth you want, then grab the tempuras you want after. You pay and find seating. This location has more seating than the ones I've been to before. Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was good too, I was able to talk to my friends without it being too loud.
This was my first time eating at Marugame Udon in years--the first time I tried it was in Hawaii back in 2022. I'm so glad they opened a location near me. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. They have an efficient system where you receive your food immediately after ordering, which made the experience quick and convenient. Everyone on the team was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I ordered the Nikutama Udon, and it was delicious. The broth had a rich, savory beef flavor, and they were very generous with the meat portions. I went with the large bowl, and it was definitely satisfying and filling. My wife and I are both very happy we chose to come here for lunch today. It was a great meal and a wonderful experience that left us leaving happy. We'll definitely be back! read more

I came on a Sunday afternoon and they were packed but pretty fast and efficient. Inside was clean. The person in charge of the seating area made sure to clean quickly and helped bring our items to our table. They were having their 1 year anniversary and had limited edition items. I got their limited edition Mentai butter udon. It was pretty light in flavor compared to their other items but still good nonetheless. read more

Came for lunch on a Sunday just as they opened. It got busy fairly quick. Menu is not big but enough variety. You pick the style of Udon you want and they make it fresh right in front of you really fast. Once you get your order, they have a variety of tempura items you can get à la carte. I got the Nikutama and my daughter got the beef tomatama curry. Even though we got the regular sized bowls, we were glad we didn't get the large since we also got some tempura, and was a lot of food. We both had some leftover to take home. Everything was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. And the place was also very clean. read more
Marugame Udon is hands down the best hand made udon I've ever had. This is a new location that opened up in chino hills. The ambiance in this location is more squarish compared to deep and long one at the Costa Mesa location. The service is slower, but they have yet acknowledged and did a chant when I enter the restaurant. I ended up getting a kake udon regular with a soft boiled egg. I also added a crispy chicken cutlet at the end. I like how you can order, grab your food, and already sinking into my first bite in literally less than 2 mins. It's faster than fast food! The udon is soft, fresh, and chewy. The chicken cutlet crispy and juicy in the inside. This the definition of perfection. So good! read more
Whenever I travel to California or Hawaii, Marugame Udon is a must! This is a franchise from Japan, where they hand make delicious udon noodles at each location. It is kind of set up as a Chipotle, where you can order a regular or large udon and add on various tempura dishes, such as tempura shrimp, croquette, and tamago). Only complaint I have about this location is that they were really blasting the air conditioning, so I was freezing under the vents! Definitely try to bring a jacket if you can, lol. We ordered the regular sizes of the beef gyudon and kitsune udon. The kitsune udon has a little more of a subtle flavor but comes with fried tofu. The beef gyudon comes with a good serving of beef and has a more savory, meaty flavor to the broth. I also cannot leave without the potato croquette, which tastes yummy when you soak it in the warm broth. It is always pretty busy, but if you're craving udon, I would highly recommend this spot! read more

I was excited to try Marugame Udon again since my last visit was in Waikiki about two years ago. I even made the 30-minute drive on a cold, rainy day, looking forward to a hot, comforting bowl of udon. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. The restaurant was extremely cold inside--we had to search for a spot where we couldn't feel the AC blowing on us. Once I grabbed my tempura sauce and utensils and sat down, I was surprised to find that my bowl of udon and broth were only room temperature. I watched the staff prepare it and noticed that the udons were in pre-separated mounds sitting in large trays. He took the udon and placed it in a bowl and poured hot broth over it. I had assumed the noodles weee hot but clearly not. There's no way cold noodles can become hot that way, and it really showed. I hate to write negative reviews but this is a chain restaurant so it can withstand an honest review. I hope they change the way they prepare the food. read more

Marugame Udon is such a solid spot. The udon is always fresh and comforting and it's honestly so satisfying watching them make the noodles right in front of you. Everything tastes really clean and flavorful without being heavy. And Service was quick even when it's busy and the staff are always so friendly. First time visit/ Dine In. Ramen is my usual go to but I also enjoy Udon. I got the large #1. The broth was very rich & tasty but not overpowering. The udon was fresh, chewy & quite delicious. The beef was tender, flavorful & melted in my mouth. The soft egg was perfect. The yoke brought extra richness to the broth. I got extra tempura flakes & scallions which complimented the dish. Highly recommend. My quest got the curry udon, regular size. The curry broth was not overpowering but very tasty. She got a potato coquette & tempura potato which was fresh, tasty & excellent. I love watching the cook prepping our bowls & preparing the udon. You have complete control of how you want your udon prepared. As you move through the line, you can pick side items like tempura shrimp and vegetables as per your taste & hunger. There are ample choices of drinks & water available. I had the unsweetened green tea. The dining area is large, modern & organized for efficiency. Grab your spoons, chopsticks, sauces & napkins and you are set to eat! This place can get busy with the line starting outside but it moves fairly quickly. Make this Udon place a regular dining experience. It's satisfying & makes for a quick lunch or dinner. Stopped by on Saturday, 09/06/25 during lunch time with my parents (our second time here!). Ordered the following for dine-in: - 1 Nikutama Udon = $13.49 - 2 Shrimp Tempuras ($2.99 each) = $4.58 - 1 Tamagoyaki Tempura = $2.99 - 1 Beef Udon = $11.99 - 1 Chicken Curry = $12.49 SUBTOTAL = $45.54 TAX = $3.53 OVERALL TOTAL = $49.07 Food was delicious as always! One of the most authentic udon places ever, AND extremely affordable as well. read more
Located in the same plaza as Omomo and 99R, there's a ton of good food options nearby but Marugame hits hard. Walk up service counter for your bowl of udon, and then you can pick out different tempura toppings if you want more. Decent amount of seating available, and it's not too lively that you can't have a conversation. Came during the summer lunch and had their cold udon bowl which was surprisingly refreshing. Would totally recommend if you're ever craving chewy goodness. read more

I usually go to the South Coast Plaza location, but this one is way less crowded and the food is just as good. There's plenty of parking in the plaza & they are well staffed. Marugame is a cafeteria-style restaurant where you first order your soup. The bowl is placed on a tray & you can add green onion and tempura flakes to your soup. You move down the line & can choose from a variety of tempura. The nice thing is that if you don't see a specific tempura, you can ask the staff & they'll make it fresh! My go-to order is the Nikutama & tamagoyaki. I haven't tried any of the other soups, but they look just as good! The udon itself is very fresh & I love the texture of it. In the area where all the utensils are, you can add ginger & shichimi (Japanese spice blend) if you want a little kick. read more

Very good food and at a decent price. Came here around 11:45am because it's close to work. It wasn't crowded and all the employees were helpful. I got the curry udon with a side of katsu chicken. The food was very flavorful and you can taste the quality. The restaurant is very casual and you clean up your own table when you are done. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch here and recommend giving this place a try. read more

First timer! Employees were friendly, helpful and took the time to make recommendations. Had the Nikutama (#1) which is served with Sweet Beef and Soft Boiled Egg. My husband opted for Teri Chicken Tartar Udon, which we were told is one of their newer items. We also got a few pieces of tempura, including jalapeño, shrimp and pumpkin. My bowl was soooo good, with fresh udon, delicious beef, and the soft egg elevated the whole bowl to another yummy level. You can also opt for tempura flakes and scallions. In the corner of restaurant was an ice & water station, condiments such as ginger & Shichimi Togarashi and utensils. Will be back again when craving udon! read more
Wow, kind of a fun place to have a meal! They serve all kinds of udon and I ordered creamy broth udon, which was delicious! Definitely add the onions and the tempura flakes! Adds texture and taste. Easy and chill place to go in and out quickly. No need to waste your time with a full fledge restaurant. Self serve on a lot of the condiments and utensils. I'll come back for sure. read more

The first time we had Marugame udon was in Hawaii...during the summer! I just remember eating soup and sweating. We finally get to enjoy their soup minus the sweating!! This place is delicious. We ordered the Nikutama with seasoned egg, beef gyudon, and of course shrimp tempura! This place stays busy for good reasons. There hasn't been a time that we've gone and there wasn't a line. read more

If you're craving fresh, flavorful, and fast udon, Marugame Udon in Chino Hills is where it's at. The place is always clean and well-organized, even when it gets packed (which is often and for good reason!). The line can stretch out the door, but it moves fast and it's totally worth the wait. My personal go-tos are the Curry Udon--rich, savory, and just the right level of spice--and the Nikutama Udon, which hits that perfect sweet-savory balance with tender beef and a soft egg on top. Don't skip the tempura bar either. Everything is crispy, fresh, and dangerously addictive--I always grab a shrimp and a sweet potato, minimum. Pro tip: come early or expect a bit of a line, but know you'll be slurping happiness in no time. Highly recommend! read more
