It was cool. Definitely an "off-Broadway" equivalent of a gay bar. Not Capitol Hill. It's a laid back, Cheers type of place. The crowd is mixed but with a few older folks. The place was clean and put together, and the only weird moments involved the clientele. A few were sloppy drunk -- not cute drunk, sloppy drunk. Also had some real winner squat down next to my legs in the patio area, as if he was about to take a shit or give birth. I don't even think he was drunk, which makes it even creepier. Like, why? I'd go back. All Seattle gays need a break from Capitol Hill from time to time, and this is the place. read more

Drunken gay-karaokers live! A frickin neighbourhood bar, I'd be afraid to order the food there. But, you could easily get beer and listen to gay-lesbians pick songs out of a note-binder on a pool-table covered set up with microphones and karaoke. Scary but true! We had a good time watching Apolo Ohno on the Olympics on one tv screen (the karaoke song on the other screen), variety dressed and variety-aged-gay guys singing away some obscure songs. Your usual pub games including a pool table. The drinks are cheap and the bar staff are great! I got here after midnight and the kitchen was closed but they gave me a menu for the chinese restaurant across the street and allowed me to bring my food here in a to go box. The clientele seem pretty friendly as well. read more

Absolutely appalled by the service here. I walked in with a group of my friends at 12pm and we walked up to the pool table where they had the song books laid out to sing karaoke. They closed the pencils boxes that they had with the song slips on the rest of us and said they were taking no more request. Essentially you could feel the vibe that they knew we were not regulars and they didn't want us here. I've never felt more unwelcome in gay bar as a gay man than I have at this place. So disgusting. I frequent Changes quite a bit because it's right down the block from my work. They have a decent beer and liquor selection and their prices are really reasonable, so I am able to pop in after a work a couple of times a week for a quick drink without totally breaking my bank. They have a good assortment of themed nights. Don't miss out on burger night on Tuesday! So cheap and delicious. The vibe is really low key and the music is always really solid. Sometimes the bartenders can be a little on the not so warm and fuzzy side, but in the end I always have a good time and love going. read more

We call this place the gay Cheers, a great little stop in, or stay awhile neighborhood bar. Certain nights of the week have food which is good and cheap, I love the veggie burgers! The best and longest happy hour prices you are going to find, and the mixed drinks are the bomb! A wide range of friendly types, from young guys on up, to some real oddballs, that being said in a good way! The karaoke can be very good and gets packed out. Different theme nights on and off throughout the month . Just a real cool place that can be low key to unwind after work, to fun and wild into the night. Thank God our friend Tim moved up there and found this place, we look forward to it every time we go to visit. Don't change a thing! read more

This is the teeniest, tiniest, postage stamp-sized gay bar with fish aquariums on the wall that I've ever visited. It could either be cozy or claustrophobic, depending on your mood. It was an easy walk from my hotel in the U District, so I went there on a random midweek late afternoon. I required a quick Vodka infusion and it delivered. Loved coming here. It was a very local scene but welcoming to newcomers. Not a very diverse crowd though, mostly older gay white males. As far as potential hookups-not promising. I went to this bar a few times about 27 years ago because my friend Troy was a bartender here. I heard that they have changed a lot since I had been there and actually serve food now, so I went with my husband who had never been in a Gay bar before. Unfortunately, we chose a Friday night to go mostly because we wanted to try their Prime Rib Dinner. By 6pm, it was already crowded so we had to sit at the bar. The bartender and staff were friendly despite the huge crowd and the food was absolutely excellent! We were not in a good position to socialize however, but it was the only place that had seats. We will have to come back on an off nightsomeday so we can socialize with the patrons more. The biggest drawback to this place, and why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 rating is that it is kinda small, and since it is on a major street, there is no parking or anything for even cabs to drop us off easily. It certainly was full of hhappy people though enjoying the evening and I am sure it is a fun place for the regulars who come here often. I can see why people refer to it as the gay version of the Cheers bar. read more
