A friend introduced me to Chanko. We went for lunch on a Friday around 11:30. It was very slow. We ordered at the kiosk and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. Our food was given to us in to go containers and I was thankful for this because it's about a week's worth of food! The portion was HUGE for me! This is delicious and I was so happy to be able to try it! I will definitely be back!

YESSSSSS SIRRRRR Hear me loud and clear. Found this place just be driving. Cruising. One day rolled the dice and I'm glad I did. This place holds a special place in my heart. I'd come here alone on solo missions and this place makes it so easy to do so. Order at the counter with a kiosk. Pick up your food in a window and just enjoy. I've gotten almost everything on them menu and it just does not miss. The curry with pork belly is my favorite. Goes crazy. Big pot of curry. Give me a break. They are doing things special here. Brought the homies, everybody was happy. How could you not be, look at these photos. Psssh everybody else could learn a thing or two from Chanko. Celebrate birthdays, heartbreak and wins here. I will continue to do this. Chanko you are an anchor in my life.

I finally came to check out Chanko, I had seen it online. It has a sick mural on the side of the building and outside&indoor eating area. You order through a kiosk which made it easy & no wait; I ordered the chicken katsu curry and it came out so fast. It was very filling and delicious, the curry was flavorful w the perfect amount of heat. I think total with a drink was 21$ I think I also added an extra serving of chicken The music and interior design was fire, it really set the ambiance. Parking is free too which is a plus. 100% coming back.

I have been interested to try Chanko for a while. My fiancé and I were out shopping in Tampa and popped in to check it out. Chanko is a diner that features okonomiyaki and fried chicken! We ordered with the kiosk. I ordered a kimchi okonomiyaki and my fiancé ordered a karaage lunch. The portions were huge! The okonomiyaki had shredded cabbage, bean sprouts, grilled chicken, noodles, pancake topped with some Mentaiko sauce. The noodles were delicious and paired well with the sauce and kimchi. I really did not like the pancake at the bottom. It was too hard and not flavorful. The karaage was nicely fried. It was paired with some rice. We had plenty leftover to bring home.

Came here before a concert for dinner and it is a cool cheap eats spot to be at in Tampa! Looks like it was in an old fashioned diner redesigned to be retro and izakaya based and is good to sit at and eat or carry out. You place your order with a self service kiosk and they will call your name, food here is absolutely delicious and the portion is great too be warned if you order any of their spicy sauces it is spicy in that it builds up. Would come back here especially for the value!

Came here for lunch on a whim and it was fantastic! It was a bit crowded during lunch time and is a smaller space but we made it work! It's a self service station so you basically go up to the counter and order your food and pick it up when they call your name. It's a very modern Japanese diner type feel and I loved the decor in there. I was mostly ecstatic that they had my favorite Japanese street food, Okonomiyaki (savory pancake) as I cannot get it back home. They have other street food like beef bowls, katsu, katsu curry, etc and also drinks and sauces too. My husband and I had the following: Beef katsu curry - 8/10 - The beef was grilled well and we loved the smokey taste but it was just a tiny bit dry. The curry was legit!! We've been to Japan and had plenty of curry and the flavor was on point. It had a strong curry taste just how we like it and the potatoes and carrots were tender. I can't tell you how much we loved that curry! The meal came with rice and picked yellow radishes too. The radishes helped cut the heaviness of the curry with it's acidity. They give you a pretty huge portion as well too and we had plenty leftover to take home. Hiro classic okonomiyaki - 9/10 - It had a crepe base, yakisoba noodles, cabbage, leeks, bean sprouts, fried egg, furikake, seaweed flakes (aonoriko), tempura crisps, and house okonomi sauce, and Kewpie Japanese Mayo. I chose to have pork belly as my protein and when I tell you this was one of the most delicious things I've EVER eaten, I'm not lying! The portion size was huge and all the flavors were just WOW! The noodles were tender, the pork belly just melted in my mouth, and the combination of all the fresh, crisp veggies and sauces on top was chef's kiss. Everything worked so well together! I loved how they put tempura crisps on top because it needed that textural element. I loved how I could taste a little bit of acid as well because the okonomiyaki was pretty heavy but the acidity helps with it. Food didn't take long to come out and everything was fresh, hot, and steaming! Portion sizes were pretty huge and the price was worth it. We will definitely be coming back here again when we're in the area!

My siblings have all been here and loved it, but no one thought to share it with me! So my mom and I recently went and they were definitely gatekeeping because this place is awesome. It's in an old diner with super cool vibes. There's a kiosk to order and you seat yourself before being called up to the window to pick up your food. Obviously we had to get the okonomiyaki which was HUGE and definitely shareable. I've had okonomiyaki other places, but it's rare to find the Hiroshima style with noodles which is my fave. Needless to say it was delicious as was the tiger slaw.

Really enjoyed the food at Chandon, it came out steaming hot. The service was self service at a kiosk which was pretty simple to use. The food was ready super quick after ordering which is appreciated. The ambiance is groovy here with low lighting. I got the Japanese grilled chicken curry with a spice level of high. Everything was spot on, wouldn't change a thing and ready to go back to try a different dish! Yum!

Uhhhh amazing!! This is definitely going to be my new Japanese spot. You walk in and order on a kiosk. Wait maybe 5 minutes and the food is out hot and ready to eat! This is an introverts dream! Don't have to talk to one person if you don't want to. Spicy Karaage rice: 5/5 Beef rice: 5/5 Strawberry matcha soda: 5/5 Usually when I order spicy food I don't assist will actually be spicy but their sauce definitely is! Everything is so flavorful and I'm still thinking about it ever since. The place has all kinda of figurines and anime vibes so if you love anime, you will enjoy looking around!

We just grabbed take out but will be back. The vibes seemed like a diner fun when we picked up. Food was ready and service was quick. We got the karaage rice bowl and the pork belly rice bowl. Huge portion sizes for the price and the pickled radish and slaw were a great addition to the already amazing flavor. The calpico was also a nice little sweet drink to top off a great dinner. Already recommended it to a few friends and want to go back asap!

    The inside is so vibey.

I must say this place has become one of my favorite places to eat at after just one visit. The vibes are so good, with it being a repurposed diner into an Asian restaurant. Not much seating inside but it's manageable and there is also outdoor seating if the weather isn't bad. The parking is also on the smaller side but there is nearby street parking as well. The food was so good at a decent price and we didn't have to wait too long to boot. The service was kind and everyone seemed to have a good time, would highly recommend.

Situated inside of an old diner, Chanko offers traditional Japanese cuisine. They have an automated ordering by system. As soon as you walk in you'll be met with two screens to place your order. They provide pictures and printed descriptions of their sauces and seasonings. I ordered the katsu with curry and vegetables. It comes with three thick slices of daikon on top of a bed of rice. I haven't had katsu curry that good since I've moved. Seating can be limited as they do get a lot of foot traffic. There are additional seats outside. Beverages include Japanese sodas and regular fountain drinks. Once your order is ready, you go to the pick up window and grab necessary utensils.

This might be known to others but definitely a new find for us. Efficient self-service model in an american dinner setting but serving japanese dishes, great food and more than AAAAMPLE but GENEROUUUUUUS portion. Hindi tinipid especially taking to consideration their prices for each dish. Suulit! We'll not shy away in recommending others to give this place a try if you're at the area. This is Chanko in Tampa. The beef with rice, chicken with noodles and some crispy stuff (dont know what it is called and lazy to look it up) were yum!

Is this a place to dine with a party of 7?

Its pretty small tables, meant for a max of 4 per booth / table. There is one section on the right where you could all sit together, but if it's taken, you might have to sit at two separate tables.

The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss.
