First of all, I NEVER write reviews like that but I must say the food was the most horrible Chinese food I've ever had. I bought combination fried rice and combo lo mein and egg roll. The combo rice had a strong egg taste overpowering everything else. They added too much sauce which tasted bitter. The lo mein noodles were over cooked and tasted the same as the combo rice. The egg rolls had TOO much oil to where it dropped in my scrubs. I tried to order a party tray and I thank God I didn't because 1. Most HORRIBLE customer service EVER! Seriously, I know that businesses get busy, but when I ordered a Chinese treat on my birthday to be delivered to my work down the street, I was excited. I had heard so many good things, but nearly TWO HOURS later, no food, no call. So, I called them. Oh, it is on it's way, he says. When I asked why it was taking so long, I was told that he warned me it could be 45 minutes to an hour. Um... last time I checked 2 hours is way more than 45 minutes or an hour. His response to it all? What do you want FREE food, I will not do that. I never asked for free food, I just wanted to know why no one at least called. The manager didn't care. He was rude and simply said if you don't want it, I'll call it back. I am betting that it hadn't even been sent out. I am betting it was forgotten about totally. What a horrible experience. Ridiculously good Chinese food!!! The portions are ginormous (I'm talking three take home meals) and the flavor is incredible. I usually opt for sesame chicken, but the orange chicken and sweet and sour options have been amazing as well. The ambiance is that of a modern Chinese take-out joint with a nice view of the chefs through a glass window (you can feel the heat of the fire flaring up!), brushed aluminum accents and of course, spotted with lucky cats and happy coin frog things. Good for take-out, delivery, and dine-in....and you're looking at about $8 for a dinner entrée- well worth it as this is the best Chinese I've ever had :)! We have been customers since the day they opened. The customer service was amazing at first but with the years it has gone down hill so fast. The food always arrives cold now. It will take over 1 1/2 hours most days for the delivery to arrive and 9 out of 10 times the order is wrong or something is always missing. The order is wrong almost all the time. We do not have any other Chinese restaurant near by that delivers that's why we always end up ordering from here but It is horrible. Don't waist your time or money with this company at least not the one on Galloway in Mesquite. The orders are always wrong, late, food cold and they never apologize. The only time an order was right-the food was all tossed around and the bag was soggy when it arrived. I have been eating at Chans since the first week they opened and the food was fantastic back then. The last several years have brought a gradual decline in food and I found myself eating there less often. I picked up carry out yesterday for the first time in six months and was disappointed with the food I was served. It was not tasty in any way and the sauce had almost a chemical flavor. This cannot be a fluke because there were a total of 4 people eating in the restaurant at dinner time, they had no carry out orders waiting for pick up and the phone never rang once while I was waiting for my food to be prepared. It's too bad what has happened because this place used to be packed all the time. This is my default take out Chinese food in Mesquite-and not just because it is so close to the house(which doesn't hurt!) but because it is very tasty and a great value for the amount of food you get. I almost always do takeout as it is so close to home-but have never had any complaints on the rare occasions I eat there. The orange chicken is delicious and they serve an enormous helping- it is almost enough to even quell my hunger-and that's saying alot. The wife also like the broccoli and beef-and it is good it's just no orange chicken! I have never had anything here that actually hit a sour note-and that speaks volumes for the quality. First, I have to qualify this review by saying this is very American-style Chinese food. That said, Chan's does it well. It is not my favorite Chinese place but it is my go-to American-style Chinese place. Chan's has good quality ingredients for a good price. The portions are huge! The veggies are not overcooked and the meat is not in scary unidentifiable chunks. They do tend to be heavy on the sauce. If that's not your thing ask for half sauce or sauce on the side. As other reviewers said, the Combo Lo Mein is really good. They have a nice mix of pasta, meat, and veggies. I also like the Twice Cooked Pork, Mixed Vegetables, and Chicken Soup. I did not like the Hot Spicy Bean Curd, it was more like soup than a main dish and the sauce was not spicy. Also, sometimes the breading on the chicken dishes is too thick, this doesn't happen all the time but often enough that I usually avoid ordering that style at Chan's. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It is fast-casual style where you order at the counter and take the meal to your table. They are very quick, even when busy. I've never ordered delivery but I do order take-out from Chan's. They get busy in the evenings but it usually takes less than 20 minutes before the food is ready. Unless really busy they usually get the food out faster than they quote. I learned to get there earlier than they quote because the first few times the food was lukewarm when I got home. read more

This place is about as Chinese as KFC. Went here at 2:30 for late lunch. I went in with no one in kitchen or behind counter. All the staff was seated in main dining room eating there lunch. I ordered shrimp in Lobster Sauce with steam rice. Food was cooked by a kid with a huge hickey on his neck. He acted professional but food was poor. Shrimp was ok but the carrots were cold in my food. Steam rice was cold. Free egg roll was complete garbage. Won't be back. Gone way down hill. Wish some pride was taken in this place. read more

I can say this is the best Chinese fast food you'll find in dallas. Although the cashier staff is a little bad since I stopped working here (not patting myself on the back on anything) the food is exceptional. My go to order is the combo lo mein with 1$ egg added; spicy. Best you'll ever find. The combo fried rice is delicious as well too and I added garlic to that (personal preference). Chans used to be one of my favorite places for pick up Chinese food. NOT anymore. It has consistently gone down hill. I ordered moo goo gai pan with steamed rice and found a large construction size old staple in my food. Even though I called and let then know they had nothing to say about it. I decided to try one more time recently and upon arriving home with the food found that the egg roll was so old you couldn't bite into it. The rice was a ball of stick/dry mess. Chewy actually. It was definitely old like the eggroll. The broccoli chicken was good but didn't get any soy sauce or utensils. When I called to let them know they offered nothing to correct the situation. We ordered the Chan Bean Curd (the texture of the tofu is really soft, but the sauce is great), Veggie Lo mein (yummy), and Veggie fried rice (just ok)-- 20 bucks out the door. Wow tried the twice cooked pork. Very tasty. Hoisin sauce spicy and smooth. Vegetables tasted fresh and cooked just right as was pork. Love their egg rolls decent blend of cabbage and veggies. This was for delivery and received all items. Brother in Law had Chicken fried rice with extra chicken. He said it was very good. My platter also had fried rice. I come to find out another customer grabbed my order, left, came back after some time and told the staff they gave him the wrong order. They offered to make me a new one. But it would take 15mins. We normally order from this restaurant at least 5 to 6 times a month in the last three times throughout our orders they either showed up really late and it was cold so we had to send it back. Giving them one more chance we needed up waiting 3 hrs.. called multiple times they said the order was on its way..it never showed. Finally got a manger and he says..we can remake the order it's not on here.i ask if we will receive a discount or even free since it's there screw up. Considering we waited per their no worries it's on it's way. Nope..and you want us to wait another hour umm #Bye no thank you.
