Pleasant quiet Chinese restaurant located near the Harbor and tucked away by a small strip mall facing the most popular Irish Pub! Unfortunately Chan's restaurant has not much foot traffic like the rest of the Chinese restaurant scene in the USA. The time has passed when we all thought going out for Chinese food was a healthy treat! The noble experience like Sushi restaurant and authentic Korean restaurant is long gone! Now only thing left is for the few regular patrons who sometimes miss the good old fashioned Kung Pao chicken and shrimp in lobster sauce as well as the most inexpensive stir fried rice with chicken! These are literally boring and staple foods in the psyche of rural America. The decor reflects the glorious past with cheap old ornaments and dated furniture with vinyl seats with worn edges. However, if you really want to taste the days of old All American Chinese, you must go here. The time machine is actually activated. The hot Garlic Chicken, Shredded Pork in Szechwan Hot Sauce will remind you that seventy's tastes when you were 17 and couldn't get enough of the Nutty Taste that only surfaces from the heated old Wok roasted meat and vegetables in the mysterious mixture of hot peanut oil and MSG! Go now and relax in savoring your own nostalgia and order Chow Mien tonight!

Here's the optimal strat for ordering. Family Style Dinner is $18.50 per person but gets you the whole chosen dish (which average $14) plus soup, appetizers, and fried rice. INSANE OG CHAN'S VALUE. I know that some people lived through the Covid Era of Chan's where stuff was not as good as it used to be, but Chan's is back on the map as the big location in Brookings in both food and value. Mongolian Beef in the special order is my go-to, but it used to be the Wor Won Ton Soup when I was younger. Not a huge fan of the fried shrimp, but the egg flower/hot and sour soups are on par and the pork fried rice goes harder than it should. If you order the family style you will probably have leftovers, so go with one of the other options if that is undesired. However, some of the more exciting dishes are only available on the higher priced dinner combos!

Great food, large portions. BUT PLEASE NOTE: THEY ARE ON VACATION NOV 11 - JAN 3 Hope they have a super trip home, and come back refreshed, ready to make more great food for all of us!

Authentic food made fresh. hidden, well more like tucked away next to fat Irish, the corner spot right up the small flight of stairs. The service is quaint family owned and operated. I love the flavor not to salty not to sweet they definitely have fine tuned their recipes. The general tso chicken is delicious with hardy chunks of chicken.

Very friendly service, abundant portions, hot tea is complimentary. Food is good, not expensive, but nothing special. Plain décor.

Came here for takeout while heading back south after a trip over the Oregon border. Found it very…read moremuch to be a typical Chinese American restaurant, mainly meant for carryout. The portions were large, prices were good, and everything was accurate. We ended up ordering too much (since we didn't know the portion sizes), and absolutely would have eaten it for multiple meals if we were closer to home. We arrived into Crescent City at around 3 pm, and I had looked at the menu on-line before arriving so knew what to order. The menu does not include an ingredient list, so asked if the twice cooked pork had zucchini...sure enough, it did (it must be used as filler in this area), so I asked it to be removed. They replaced it with green pepper instead. I was warned that the chow fun would take 30 minutes to complete, which I agreed to. Paid and waited. Sure enough, it did take that time, so appreciated the heads-up. Drinks are through bottles/cans and they had various sodas available. All dishes were presented in those styrofoam lunch containers, so the amount of food given was huge. Twice cooked pork ($16), Shrimp Chow Fun ($18), Mongolian Beef ($18). Only gave us one rice, though (should have been two). It took about 70 minutes to get back to our hotel near Eureka, so intentionally chose dishes that would travel well (i.e. no deep fried dishes). We made it just in time for Game 4 of the NBA Finals (Spurs blew the biggest lead in a NBA finals game). The food was good: plenty of good quality meat in each dish, and I especially liked the Chow Fun (delicious sauce).
