Such good food and the workers were so sweet! Stopped here on our way home from our anniversary trip for breakfast before the long drive, and was met by amazing food and stellar service. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and the French toast was terrific! Big portions as well. Highly recommend

My Turkey melt! I scarfed some before I remembered to take the picture! If you order this, add dill pickle slices and tomato!! So good!!

Mattie's is a staple for Brookings and Harbour! They have super nice staff, great food with lots of options, bloody Mary's and such to warm you on a coastal day. It is a diner. Very clean! Give it a try! I highly recommend the Monte Christo!! Big portions!

Best breakfast place ever. The coffee is amazing the servers are friendly and very attentive. I love the red, white and blue French toast because it's not dry or to thick. The chocolate chip pancakes are always a hit and the cinnamon roll is to die for . I love this place

Mattie's was a bit of a confusing experience. First we were trying to figure out whether or not they were open. Google and Mattie's website both showed that they opened later in the day at 11:30 however yelp showered different hours. When we called to confirm, someone answered the phone and it was clear there were diners chatting in the background but they told us they were closed. Confused, we called back a few minutes later and were told they were open. We drove there and were sat immediately. Drink options pretty limited but their coffee was pretty good. The tables were very close together and when we told the server we needed a second to decide she came back less than a minute later and it felt like we were rushed. The food was good but not great. A couple of the sides came in correctly as well. I was hoping for more of a breakfast or brunch atmosphere but instead it felt a little more designed for people passing through town looking for a really quick breakfast bite.

Had breakfast at Mattie's Pancake House and ordered the Swedish crepes along with a classic plate of bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Everything came out hot and clearly made with care. The Swedish crepes were thin and tender, filled with lingonberry jam and topped with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Sweet but not overly rich. The bacon and eggs were cooked exactly as requested, and the hash browns had that crisp golden edge with a soft center that's harder to find than you'd think. Service was warm and attentive without being over the top. Our server checked in just enough and made sure coffee stayed filled. It felt like the kind of place where regulars are known by name. The space itself is cozy, with a classic small-town diner atmosphere. Comfortable booths, a few counter seats, and a steady flow of locals and travelers passing through. It's not flashy, but that's part of its charm. Mattie's delivers the kind of breakfast that feels familiar in the best way. Unpretentious, well-executed, and worth the stop if you're in the area.

Ok, we have been heading to this area of the coast for 25 years and finally made it to Mattie's. The food was excellent, staff was great. Very pleased with the whole experience.

A waterfront restaurant that has improved its preparation and taste of its menu…read moresince its 101 days. Pleasantly surprised. my wife had the cheese quesadilla which is one of the better quesadillas i've tasted...perfectly cooked. I had the 3 layer hero sandwich which I thoroughly enjoyed. The potato salad that came with it was poor and without taste. If there is a dessert menu, we never saw it. service was top notch and she made time to answer a few questions. I would definately go back there. The one thing I noted, the view of the Pacific was hampered by the dirtyness of the windows. They could use a thorough cleaning inside and out.

Let me start with the good things. The location is wonderful as you can look out at the ocean and…read morethat's always a plus. The hobo breakfast was a generous serving and quite tasty. I suggest asking for their green salsa to top it off. The biscuits and gravy half order was also generous although the gravy could use a little more flavor. The food generally was very good and our service was excellent. But they really need to address the condition of the restaurant and the bathroom. The booths are obviously worn and one was completely unavailable because the seats were missing. Worse than that was the condition of the bathroom. We ate breakfast at 9:30 AM and it was obvious the bathroom had not been cleaned from the night before. It was disgusting. It always gives one a slightly uncomfortable feeling about the overall attention to cleanliness elsewhere. I hope the owners will make an effort to bring the facility up to par with the food. Then this would be five stars all the way.

We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife…read moretraveling with me and we just didn't know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened! The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you'll ever find. The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I've had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I'm so glad that we did! The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It's bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn't pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they're pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it! My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn't taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it'll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can't wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos.

They open at 11am and we came before 11:30 and there was only 1 other couple seated. The waitress was very polite and friendly. We were seated quickly, given menus and water. One lady in our group can't eat gluten and has a few other allergies so she ask if she could eat the "soup of the day". Our waitress replied "I'm pretty sure". My friend asked if she was sure or pretty sure. She said she would check but never came back. Then the weird part happened. We had placed our orders, the other tables were now full, but nobody had food, except that one party that arrived before us. We assume there was some problem in the kitchen but she never came back to explain or apologize for the very long wait. Not to us, or anyone. When she eventually brought the food out, there was no apology or acknowledgement for the long wait. And she brought my friend a salad instead of the soup which she had inquired about. She did explain that she couldn't get an answer to her allergy question so she wanted to be safe. But wouldn't you tell the customer before just bringing the food? Anyway the food was all delicious!! I ordered the halibut sliders which were cooked perfectly. The "soup of the day" was okay but needed salt and pepper, which we requested. They brought us 2 pepper shakers, no salt. My wife had pasta bolognese which she loved. Her salad was bland. So overall the food was very good. The service was below par
