There aren't a ton of more upscale restaurants in Brookings so we were glad to find Pacific Sushi for a date night. The restaurant is small but gorgeous and the staff was very friendly. My wife ordered the Agedashi Tofu & Pork Gyozas and I had a couple of rolls, the spicy Rouge and a plain Jane salmon, avocado and cucumber roll. Everything was fantastic. The fish was super fresh, the tofu cooked perfectly and the gyoza sauce tangy and yummy. We only had a couple of small issues, more personal preferences really. 1 - my wife enjoyed the tofu, but the dish is described as having an agedashi broth but really it was more of a thicker style sauce smeared on the plate the tofu was placed on. It didn't really have a true broth. 2 - the habanero marmalade was not spicy. The roll was described as a spicy roll, but the marmalade was sweet. Unfortunately, the jalapeños were sweet as well. I know they can't control capsaicin in peppers, but that marmalade needs way more habanero. It would be WONDRFUL on toast though! Note: looking at their menu now they have updated this roll to replace the marmalade with a "tangy sesame". I look forward to trying this to see the difference. Sweet little get-away with my guy landed us here. The udon with tofu was phenomenal. Perfectly sized tofu cuts, well done. 5 stars. Noodles not overcooked, and great sauce. He enjoyed the Redwood and Rogue rolls. Next time I *won't* order the Nature Nugget roll (which is listed with different ingredients on their website than their in-restaurant menu). It tasted like Lysol, presumably from the citrus ponzu? That was a tough swallow. I'd still return for that tofu, though. We stopped at Pacific Sushi & Grill completely by chance while driving through Brookings on our way to Coos Bay, and it turned out to be a great surprise. We parked right in front, walked in, and immediately liked the vibe. The restaurant felt comfortable, relaxed, and inviting. We chose to sit at the sushi bar, which was a great decision. I ordered a spicy roll, an Nami roll, and a scallop roll, and Ray had a spicy tuna roll along with a few other items. Everything was wonderful--fresh, flavorful, and very well done. We've lived here for 10 years and always got great service. Today we went in, it wasn't too busy-were given ice water and then completely ignored. We watched the waitress walk towards us and then turned away to help two people (young men) that came in at least 10 minutes after us. Sad. We stopped by pacific sushi on the way down the coast to California. They had a lot of different options and I liked their lunch specials. We each got a lunch special and then a couple extra rolls. You have a choice of soup or salad with your lunch and I enjoyed that it was different than your standard carrot ginger dressing. The noise level was very high, and there was also background music, making for a very unrelaxed experience. Service was great. Despite it being so crowded, our order was taken quickly, and we got our food in less than 15 minutes after ordering. I had Ramen with organic tofu, spicy, and my husband had Stir Fry Udon, also with organic tofu. We forgot to ask about the tofu, as we prefer it soft, but it was fried tofu (don't know if we can ask for soft). The Ramen was good, but the broth did not have flavors we had at "Ramen" restaurants in the past. My husband felt the broccoli in the Stir Fry Udon was a bit over-cooked for his tastes, but the other veggies were good, and the noodles were excellent. It all came in a lot of sauce, which was overly sweet and pretty salty. Overall, I'd like to give 3.5*, but Yelp doesn't allow it. read more

We took our two year old here for her birthday dinner (she loves "sushi"). We got the calamari for her and it's the best calamari we've had. It's lightly breaded and not greasy. The sushi tasted fresh and light. Our daughter spilled her water (which was my bad). The waitress didn't complain and was quick to help. She was so sweet and it was top notch service. We are seated quickly and the staff is always friendly. We started with Gyoza and some drinks. I then ordered some rolls. They were all very good. I did get the salmon and avocado roll, which was fresh and tasty. The service was great, attentive, and friendly. They made my bday special. The indoor seating is ample and there is street parking.
