Great curry lunch special. Was so pleasantly surprised. Our server was wonderful. Tried the Panang & the yellow curry. Great portion for a nice lunch.

Too much time had passed since the last time my boyfriend and I made our way to Chao Doi Thai! We seated ourselves and our server was friendly, as usual! :) it was busier than normal but it still had its cozy vibe. We tried the shrimp egg roll to start, and it was so fresh and flavorful. He tried the pad Thai and loved it. I ventured to the Tom Kha and I'm SO glad I did!! The rich coconut curry was perfectly balanced with the savory chicken. We both had enough for plenty of leftovers! For dessert, we ended with the taro smoothie. Can't wait to be back!

Once again, this place still have great service and foods! The waiter was being funny when we asked for 2 chopsticks. So he brought exactly 2 chopsticks when we actually meant pairs of chopsticks! Haha. We ordered spicy chow mein this time instead of pad see ew and it is also good!! Always felt warm welcome when we are here!

So I've dined here once and gotten takeout once and both times were pretty mediocre. The only good thing is this place is open later than most of the other Thai spots in Pasadena. Parking was pretty easy to find on the street. As far as the food goes: Pad Thai (3/5): The noodles came out super clumped together and seemed over cooked. Also, the taste was just a little off and way darker coloring than I'm used to. They didn't provide any lime or lemon either for acid to cut the sweetness. The egg appeared to have been cooked separately and thrown on top instead of being cooked together with the noodles. Pineapple fried rice (3/5): The rice was overdone and came out in small pieces so you don't get the chew of in tact rice kernels. Prob was not day old rice or smashed too much during the stir frying process. Taste was ok and came with nice big shrimp and pineapple chunks but rice was not good. Chao doi platter (4/5): This was actually pretty decent and nicely fried. It comes with egg rolls, fried shrimp, crab rangoon, and crispy triangle. Came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Definitely not a first choice Thai spot for me but could do in a pinch. Also could be that their other dishes are made better.

This is a fantastic Thai restaurant located in a great corner (Los Robles Ave and Orange Grove Blvd). I discovered it by happenstance and definitely will be back. I ordered takeout and my order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The Pad Woon Sen (Thai Glass Noodles Stir fried) was definitely the star of the show. Despite being a low calorie food, it was delicious and filled me up. The Pad See Ew, as with every other place I've been to, was amazing. Nothing new here. The Rock Shrimp is a delicious, deep fried shrimp with a side sauce whose formula must be preserved for future generations. It is THAT good. The Sticky Rice was delicious. I always get mine without the mango side but I'm sure even with the mango, it would be amazing. 10/10. Would recommend.

This was my first time ordering online and my last. I ordered via DoorDash and was excited to treat myself to some nice Thai food. When I got my food I specifically say NO ICE in my Ice tea. But there was ice. Then the fried calamari was cold so greasy and in-edible. The bread was mashed and came off the Calamari. After every bite I had a full mouth of grease in my mouth. The pad see ew was not hot as well. And my frost bite tasted like plastic. Also there was hardly any vegetables or meat. Will never eat anything again Food wasn't fresh. Didn't taste good. Low quality.

If you come for dinner, do yourself a favor and order the Brussels sprouts, they're only available at dinner, and I genuinely get them every single time. They're that good. The noodle soups are always incredible too. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and no matter how many times I've been, the quality has never changed. That kind of consistency is hard to find and really keeps me coming back. The service is always friendly and the food comes out surprisingly quickly, even when they're busy. I also appreciate that they're a tipless restaurant with a 20% service charge already included. It's nice knowing the staff is taken care of without having to think about calculating a tip at the end.

As for the pork ribs, the tamarind sauce gave it a big boost. Beef rendang and the carbonara were also great. Service was gracious to us, as we arrived early before our reservation time and the rest of our party did not arrive until five minutes later, they let us in early, though one of the servers gave the rice bowl I ordered a bit later than expected, since I thought it was going to come out as soon as the sisig came. They also gave a drink that one of my party ordered a bit too slow. Atmosphere-wise, we dined al fresco or outside, and it was pretty cool outside, so everything was good. This was my second visit to the restaurant, and overall, I would highly recommend this place if you want to look for fine dining in Pasadena!

Popped into Noodle St. in Old Town Pasadena for an early lunch, and was thrilled to discover this…read moresmall chain offering Asian fusion creations. It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.

The quality was solid, and everything came out hot. The chicken wings were great, the garlic green beans and cucumber salad were amazing, and the signature spicy ramen was really good too. It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.

The 4 Piece Indonesian Fried Chicken with rice is an absolute must. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The crust is insanely crispy, the seasoning is perfect, and the Indonesian dipping sauce ties it all together in a way that's completely unique. This alone is worth the drive. The Hawaiian plates are equally impressive. The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the beef and chicken were perfectly marinated -- sweet, savory, and deeply flavorful.
