Good place to get a quick affordable meal. You can order at the kiosk for card/tap pay so you dont have to wait for someone at the register. They have Banh mi sandwiches, pho, stir fried noodles, spring rolls/egg rolls etc. Pho cost 13.50 for a large bowl. They also sell sesame balls with mung beans and some other snacks. The sesame balls are crispy on the outside and are .75 each. My son tried the new Char Chiu rice plate and said the sauce it came with was good. Yikes! While this location is conveniently located across the street from Pasadena City College, it's not a restaurant I would gravitate towards anytime soon. There are plenty of other offerings in the area. I grew up with the chain and have tried various locations. Pho Banh Mi Che Cali generally promises a large selection of affordable various Vietnamese dishes at a super casual environment. No frills and amazing value. Unfortunately, I feel like this location is trying to do a lot of things. They offer Ramen or Chinese soups. There's so many "new item" signs and I really think they are losing their core identity. I'm getting off topic. I ordered the Pho with extra beef. I found the self-ordering kiosk to be easy to use. I was able to pay, grab a number and find myself a seat. While it wasn't a very clean place, it was fine. Where I was disappointed was when I tried the broth of my pho. I think Pho should have been a slam dunk for this restaurant. It's a staple to Vietnamese cuisine, so I'm sorry to report - I thought it was bland. I would say the worst pho in recent memory. I was in the Pasadena area one evening. I saw Pho Banh Mi Che Cali. I'm used to seeing them as Banh Mi Che Cali more so in the San Gabriel Valley area. Thought I check out this location with Pho in the biz name even though I didn't try their Pho for my first visit. There is a very small parking lot in the back behind the restaurant. Get here during low peak times if you want parking. Street parking may be limited. Good inside and outside seatings are available. You may choose to order via self-ordering kiosks or at the counter. I chose the counter option. Staff was friendly, nice, and helpful. I was eyeing their sandwiches, baked savory and sweet pastries, and desserts. I ended up getting a handful of items to-go as shown below. I actually ordered twice. I wanted more food LOL. Prices were reasonable. I feel this place is somewhat of a fusion between Vietnamese and Thai foods. Self-service veggie condiments station available for dine-in only. 1st Order: 1. Lemongrass chicken sandwich was very good. Definitely get again! 2. Spicy fried rice with chicken was delicious. 3. Pork banh pate was so very very tasty. 4. This was not my first time here but it's been a while. This past Saturday there was a Jazz festival at Caltech and I decided on buying two different Bánh mì sandwiches to take to the show. The price of the sandwiches have risen, but what hasn't. Looking over the menu I ordered one teriyaki beef and one bbq chicken Bánh mì. The sandwiches were $7.50 each a great value and when my order was ready the lady asked if I would like a free tea. Both sandwiches were great. The teriyaki beef was not overly sweet, like some sauces are, and the meat was very tender. The bbq chicken was equally as good and the baguette was fresh with a nice crunchy crust. This is a very nice place to stop in and have a great lunch or dinner. Traditional Vietnamese food is their specialty. The foods are made from family recipes. Close attention is paid to preparation and flavor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I needed extra explanations on some of the items and they were eager to accommodate my requests. I decided to try a soup and sandwich type of meal. For the soup portion I decided on the Special Pho Combination. For the sandwich Ham and Meatloaf. I sat down and waited for my order to be completed. After a short wait my order was ready and I was on my way home. When I unpacked my food I was impressed that everything was individually wrapped and placed carefully in the bag. Every ingredient of the soup had an individual wrapping. I was impressed by how much broth was given to put together my soup. I found the perfect bowl in my cabinet and combined all of the individual ingredients. They were all very fresh. The soup had a nice aroma as I warmed up the soup. The sandwich was ready to go and after the first couple of bites I was happy with my Ham and Meatloaf combination. Very impressed with the spice and flavor. This location has great parking. As well as a nice outside patio to compliment the tables that are located on the inside. We came here for a second time after visiting the L.A. Arboretum, it was super busy, which is a good thing, it means the food is good. Unfortunately this time, they took way too long for my order. I was worried they forgot about me or there was an issue with the kiosk ordering not sending my order to the kitchen properly, because the kiosk was telling me it was out of paper. It took them a half hour to give me my to-go order. Convenience if you're going to PCC located directly across from the school! Parking is street, there's a small lot behind the restaurant but there's never any spaces due to the other businesses. I went here on March 30. My favorite part was the pork, it was grilled to perfection. It was a big bowl, I felt so full after eating it. This is a quick casual dining place. I ordered #1 pho and I know it has beef balls and other meats. I really liked the broth! They don't have many pho options to choose from. I think they have 3 or 4. The price is very fair for the portion size and quality. The toppings (bean sprouts, etc) are on a bar to the side of the register counter. Ordered this for delivery and everything was packaged very nicely! Banh mi dac biet - its a smaller baguette but the fixings were good portions and delicious. The pate tasted great and pickeled veggies were fresh. BBH - asked for extra spicy, got wide rice noodles instead. When getting extra spicy, it really means for them, more chili oil/paste, and alone could be a little difficult to eat.
