Hello Mr. President, Thai! The first word that comes to mind about this restaurant is "authentic". As soon as we entered President Thai, their classic interior gave total authentic vibes. We knew we were in for a treat. They have an extensive menu, and with pictures! We ordered their pad Thai, pad see ew, and president beef special. Wow. Each dish was so delicious! My favorite was their pad see ew. Each of their dishes were so flavorful, generous, and appetizing. I loved the chewiness of their noodles, and the tenderness of their meat. Presidents Thai Visited April 24th Parking: The restaurant and parking lot is a bit awkward to pull into as it is off a busy street, but once getting into the lot there is a decent amount of parking. The total area of the parking lot is a bit tight and maneuvering both in and out of it can be tedious so I recommend reversing parking into the spots as it makes leaving the parking lot much easier. Ambiance: The decoration was very nice and there felt an attention to detail, making the place feel more regal and more upscale than your regular weeknight Thai spot. The seating felt nicely spaced out, and even the plates felt like a cohesive and nice touch. On a Friday evening at around 5:30 pm there was no wait for a table for 2. Also just a quick warning- bring a light jacket because it was a bit chilly. Food: We ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and the Mussamun Curry with tofu. The Pad Thai arrived hot, generously portioned, and topped with all the classic garnishes you'd expect from a good Thai restaurant (although the cabbage in the pad thai felt odd). We ordered medium spice, and our server brought out additional chillies and sauces so we could adjust the heat to our liking.The Massaman Curry was new to us, and it absolutely delivered. The curry had a rich depth of flavor creamy, warm, slightly sweet, and filled with comforting spices without feeling overly heavy. It was packed with potatoes, onions, and cashews, creating a hearty and satisfying dish. We had seen other reviews showing baby corn and additional vegetables in the curry, so we were a little disappointed that those weren't included during our visit. Still, it was a unique and flavorful dish that we were happy to try. The bowl of rice they gave us was a little dry, but it soaked the curry well and was fine. Overall both dishes tasted fresh, flavourful, and high quality. Service: The servers were polite but did not come around often. Although getting a hold of a check was a pain. I think I just found my new favorite Thai restaurant in this neighborhood! Been wanting to try here for ages, but it's always packed when we drive by. I completely understand now. Went for an early dinner with my bf. Was greeted so warmly by the staff and seated promptly. We wanted to order some of our typical dishes so we can compare, so we got their Baby Corn Mushroom with Chicken, Green Curry with Sole Filet, and Thai Style Basil Ground Pork with Fried Egg. OMG! They were all gloriously drool-worthily divine!! Likely the most flavorful of these dishes that I've ever tried at a Thai restaurant to date! Completely exceeded all my expectations!! And the portions were so generous! We were so occupied stuffing ourselves silly, that we completely forgot to make room for dessert! And we still had a ton of leftovers to take home! I just love this restaurant! It is a beautiful, immersive restaurant that feels like you're stepping out of San Gabriel Valley and into Thailand. Moreover, the food is fantastic! I switched it up today and instead of getting my go to Pad Sew ew, I opted for the beef and meatball noodle soup. I already love their more traditional dishes, and the noodle soup is just as delicious. It was packed with savory flavor from the noodle to the broth. You know it's tasty when you slurp every last drop of the soup. The beef balls are especially delicious and actually reminds me of the Indonesian beef balls I grew up with. President Thai is a decent Thai restaurant with a variety of dishes and gets a 3.5/5 stars for me. The parking lot is one of the worst I've seen, it's really tight and hard to maneuver backwards. I luckily had people leaving when I was there but it is not recommended for large cars. Back parking is recommended to leave more easily. We had a reservation for our large party and we were sat in their small outdoor patio. It was nicely decorated with a fake plant wall but it was still nice to look at. Service was a little slow because we were in the back but the waiter's did come to us periodically in the back to check on us. There was a little miscommunication with a waiter regarding the combination of the pad kee mow but we cleared it up and resolved the issue between us fairly quickly. Just wished the menu was clearer about what the combination meant on the noodle orders so there wouldn't be this issue in the first place. The menus themselves also had a large selection of food options to choose from and we tried the pad kee mow (drunken noodles), papaya salad with fried crab, chicken skewers, and crab fried rice for the four of us (our table of the larger group). The portions were quite large and there was plenty of food. The papaya salad came out first and it was a little disappointing. The papaya tasted a little old and it could've been crunchier. The crab batter was crunchy but the innards were okay. I did like the spiciness of it but the soggy papaya was not as desirable. The pad kee mow was pretty good and the noodles were larger than I thought. I liked the variety of the vegetables and it tasted pretty good. I didn't try the chicken skewers but I heard it was not bad. We did order a bowl of white rice to pair with it and I think because we were in the back, it came out a little later that we hoped. The crab fried rice was also pretty good and there was plenty left after we ate it. I will note that the food was a little salty and quite flavorful so I did drink A LOT of water. We also got a Thai tea to share but it was way too sweet for me so I only had a sip. I wished it was 75% less sweet and more milky. The size of the drink was fairly large though. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy their meal and their papaya salad was not as old as ours. The restaurant was also accommodating of a peanut allergy of one of the group members. The food did come out late because there was a supposed error of a peanut on his pad see ew so they had to remake it. Glad they caught it and made sure the food was safe. By the end, I was too full for dessert, but my whole party enjoyed the ice cream and fried bananas. The restaurant was quite accommodating of our party and let us stay for a while to chat and talk as a whole group. We were quite loud so it was good that we were seated away from everyone else and outside. Most of the items were $20+ but it made sense considering the large portions sizes. FOOD This place has received a lot of praise from my social network and I see why! The panang curry with beef was creamy and abundant. The rice portion was no joke; you can share this with 2-3 people, or be really full for solo. Unfortunately I was disappointed in their stuffed chicken wings (aka angel Thai wings in other places). The stuffing was mostly shredded cabbages with glass noodles. However the ones I have had elsewhere had stuffing more to my liking. This is preference and it just wasn't mine for here. We ordered four entrees (Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, chicken fried rice, papaya salad) plus a large shrimp tom yum soup, and it was easily enough food for four full meals. Something to note, chicken fried rice is nothing special, would try pineapple fried rice next time. Inside there are lots of seats and they also have seating outside in the back as well which is usually where my family and I would sit. This time I went with my boyfriend and we sat inside and it was nice and warm. President Thai's façade is a mock up of traditional Thai architecture. Inside is a mishmash of Thai objects d'art and a large dining room closely packed with tables and padded chairs. Outdoor patio with potted tropical plants is available. Saturday evening at 6pm was packed with guests. Our waitress efficient, & patient slogged through taking orders from our party of 9, most of whom couldn't decide what they wanted or weren't familiar with Thai cuisine. I commend her tenacity. 1) Fried Crab Rolls may be called Hoy Jaw with a fried thin Tōfu skin wrapping surrounding a bland, soft, plush, moist crab meat almost pâté like filling supposedly with water chestnuts that usually have a crunchiness which I couldn't detect but instead added mushiness. Vague fishy scent reminded me this dish was originally from the sea. Clear, viscous, sugar syrup Plum Sauce was the condiment. I added small chopped green chiles pickled in vinegar to add a piquant gastrique to pep up the flavours of this crab roll which couldn't be revived. Hoy Jaw at Ras Noodle would be the aspirational standard. 2) Angel Wings are deboned chicken wings breaded with Japanese Panko and fried. It is stuffed with glass noodle Angel hair pasta, chicken meat, finely minced cabbage & other vegetables. The filling is again bland & mushy with very little minced chicken meat. The wings themselves are so over fried that the meat is tough and dry. One of the worst examples of Thai Angel Wings in memory. 3) President BBQ Duck is dressed with bell peppers, onion, Thai basil, "Signature sauce" which seemed like a delicate oyster sauce scented with pungent Thai basil, garlic, Nampla fermented fish Umami sauce. Various cuts of moist yet firm duck meat ranging from slices of breast and bits of thigh, legs, chewy skin. Good duck gaminess with a nice chaw. In other Thai restaurants, it would be a form of Pad Ka Pao. However, I sensed an old duck flavour from possibly being in the refrigerator too long that lingered on the palate and didn't sit right. Mound of white rice to add contrast. 1-3a) Singha beer is light, mild, slightly acidic, touch sweet, toasty to clear away some of the lingering flavors and refresh the palate. Disappointed that President Thai didn't meet expectations of a sophisticated restaurant. Did too many dining guests spoil the proficiency of the kitchen on a crowded Saturday night? And Pad thais should always be served with a lime on the side, which they didn't have. President's BBQ Beef: 9/10 Meat was flavorful and tender. Green sauce was really good Crispy Pork w/ Spicy Basil Sauce: 7.5/10 Flavor was good, but inside the pork was on the dry side. One of the best Thai in SoCal. It's always packed (make reservations). Parking in the main lot is like visiting college (packed - use the 2nd lot 1/4 block to the North of the restaurant. Everything is accurately traditional seasoning and flavors. Excellence in every style of dish and presentation. Exceptionally fast service for such a huge place (easily seating 250+) Like a luxury version of Thai Town's best - as demonstrated also by the extremely diverse menu. This is not your usual Pad Thai to-go experience at all. Study the menu beforehand as it can easily take 30 minutes just to read the whole thing. Food is amazing. Service is good too. There's ample space inside. The only con I have is the parking lot is so small. They have a good lunch special. It's still kinda steep at $16-17 a plate but it does come with a generous portion which two can share or you can have enough for leftovers. There's lots of options. This free version may look super spicy but it's not spicy at all which is great for me and my stomach. Pad Thai has a great flavor. My son tried the tom yum goong noodle soup which was just the tom yum soup with shrimp and your choice of noodles - egg, flat or thin (though I heard someone else say glass which made be super excited to try it next time). For this soup version, you can choose the spice level. My son got medium and it was still tolerable even for me. Though it did have a kick and sometimes it'd hit you in the back of the throat so I didn't wanna risk my stomach by eating too much of it. I've tried the egg rolls before and they're nothing special. The crab rolls though are where it's at. If you've ever been to a Chinese banquet where they served those fried seafood rolls - seafood mixture wrapped in bean curd and deep fried - with sweet and sour sauce, this is it. I haven't gotten them since I was a kid since it hasn't seem standard at all the banquets we've been to since so I was super excited to find this appetizer. Food is definitely worth a try and will keep you coming back despite the parking lot situation. Prices like I said are a little steep. We went for lunch, got three lunch menu items and the crab rolls and it came out to be like $75-80 before tip. They have a good lunch special but for me everything here has a little too much MSG. I do like the flavors though they're very authentic. I will never say no to come here, but I will usually bring water in my car to chug. read more

I was honestly pretty surprised to see the mismatch between President Thai's high ratings and the quality of my experience. I will say that the lunch specials give you incredibly large, generous portions for a good price, but that doesn't mean the food is good. As soon as I saw the menu & the crossover between so many different types of Asian cuisines I knew it wasn't authentic. The papaya salad was not good at all. In the photo it is visibly NOT fresh, and it tasted like that, too. I honestly couldn't believe they were serving papaya that looked like that. The lunch specials were whatever, nothing amazing and you can definitely find better Thai food in the area. The tom yum soup that comes with lunch specials was surprisingly good, honestly the only good thing we had here. read more
