We ordered: + Cream cheese wontons - the wonton was fried light but crispy, and filling was plentiful. A little pricey without having any imitation crab or green onion in there. (5 for $10.95). + Tom Kah Soup - this tasted pretty good but not like other tom kah soups I've had? The opacity of the soup was a little more transparent. Veggies included tomato, mushrooms, broccoli, and cabbage. + Kang Kiew Wan (Green Curry) - with chicken. First bites were excellent but as you ate on, it was on a saltier side so make sure to have rice on hand. Ordering here, rice is an add on but we cooked some at home so was all good. Hands down one of my favorite local take out joints. The food here is fantastic! Loaded with lots of flavor and zapp! I can't recommend this place enough. Here are my families favorites: Yellow chicken curry (mild) Spicy wings (they have a sweet chili glaze ) Pad Thai combination (with a lil extra sauce) Rad Na noodles (gravy is tasty!) Chicken Satay (ooh that peanut sauce is ) Papaya salad (brings a nice freshness and crunch!) Mango sticky rice (light coconut flavor and light sweetness, so good!) That Red Curry convinced me to try everything on the menu (- a legitimate 5-star dish!) 5.0 - Red Curry with Beef (Spicy) 4.9 - Panang Curry with Beef (Spicy) (These two dishes are near-identical and I'm honestly not sure which is which. Our first choice was closed as it was Tuesday, so we randomly decided to try Yum Zaap! OMG, how fortunate! Yum Zaap is now my favorite Thai restaurant in Pasadena. How did I not know about this place so close to my house? Well, it is in a nondescript strip mall at the corner of Fair Oaks and Washington Bl. in NW Pasadena. Not Old town or South Lake like so many other of Pasadena's most delicious eateries. However, I can now attest that it is well worth coming to this small, clean, freshly decorated place in NW Pasadena If you want to try some really excellent Thai food at very fair prices with great service and very reasonable wait times. We tried the Panang curry, the spicy eggplant, and the tom kah soup, all with chicken, and the drunken noodles with shrimp. Wow, I have been a big fan of Thai food for at least 30 years. Panang curry is my go to dish, and I have rarely had panang this good!! The rest of the dishes were also very well done and tasty. We can't wait to go back. Maybe lunch tomorrow? I'm so happy there's a new Thai place right in our neighborhood. The food was delicious! I get most of the same things at Thai restaurants. Drunken noodles is one of my favorite dishes, and theirs hit the spot! We also ordered the Tom Kha with shrimp, spicy basil with beef, and crab fried rice. We loved it all! We were already talking about what we want to order the next time we eat here, which I'm sure will be very soon. We're so happy to support another small local business! Drove by many times and wanted to try it out since it was close to my house. I stopped by at various times and it was closed. I went again around 1pm today and it was closed. We decided to give it one last chance for dinner at 5pm. They were open and our food was ready in 10mins I asked about their hours. It is just mom and son running the restaurant. They dont have additional staff. They go shopping in the morning and dont get there until around 1pm, sometimes later. They open until 8pm, sometimes 9pm. They havent updated their hours on yelp or elsewhere The pad thai was delicious. Good flavor. Portion size was average for a thai restaurant. Price was about average. I hope they succeed. It gave me coffee shop vibes. We weren't incredibly hungry so we decided to share the Yellow Curry lunch special with the Spicy Wings as an appetizer. The curry was incredibly tasty and definitely a good portion for lunch. The special also came with a house salad and a delicious spring roll. The wings were fried and tossed in a sweet & sour-Esque sauce. It was cool but the way the wings were fried definitely stood out. We were looking for a new Thai Restaurant, Yum Zaap Thai Kitchen looked good so we gave it a try, It was DELICIOUS, it was so fresh . There are some great choices on the menu, the Green Curry , pad Thai and chicken satay, which is served without the skewers which is great because who wants the sticks anyway?
