Nine & Nine is a small Thai restaurant on Colorado in Pasadena, with very generous portions of food. I stopped by here around 7PM on a Sunday and thankfully was able to find street parking quickly (bonus--parking was free on Sundays). The menu is pretty simple but has all of the Thai standards like noodles, curry, and rice dishes. I opted for the Pad Thai, which was delicious. It came with chicken as well as two pieces of shrimp, and the portion was very generous. The food also came out in around 10 minutes, which I was very grateful for as I was pretty hungry when I ordered. The cafe is fairly casual and there were several people picking up takeout orders. Most dishes were under $20 which I think is very fair in this day and age. Definitely looking to return and trying some of their other dishes (fried rice looked good, maybe I'll try that next). read more

No frills, with just a handful of tables inside and some patio seating but the food is consistently excellent. Their daily lunch special (11am -3pm) is one of the best deals around for only $14. It comes with your preferred protein entree, a side salad, white rice and your choice of 2 egg rolls or chicken potstickers. My favorite is their cashew nut chicken, extra spicy. The beef and broccoli is great too. The food is always flavorful, fresh and the portions are generous. They have a great menu with a lot of appetizers, soups, noodles and your favorite Thai dishes. They have a nice list of dessert options including mango sticky rice and homemade coconut Ice cream. Online ordering is available too but service is always fast and friendly. Street parking is no longer free in Pasadena as of 2026. Lots of paid parking in nearby lots. This is a must try spot for authentic and affordable Thai food in Pasadena's playhouse district. read more

Lovely little restaurant with fast service! Great location. There's free or metered street parking all around the block. We chose to sit outside, where it's fully shaded and surrounding by plants. The food comes out quickly and tastes pretty good. The egg rolls were so crispy and full. I could probably just eat egg rolls. I also got the grilled pork with sticky rice. There was a generous amount of pork and it was soo juicy. I love that they offer sticky rice with their savory dishes. Located in downtown Pasadena, this Thai food restaurant is cooking up dishes for dine in and take out. During my most recent visit, there were a lot of people dropping in to pick up orders to-go. There are indoor and outdoor seating options so that's convenient when the weather is really nice outside. Tried the Tom Yum soup, Papaya Salad, and Pad Thai. Food was good, but had the same few ingredients in every dish -- meaning, I would have preferred more distinction on taste. The servers were nice but the experience felt rushed. They have such a beautiful storefront with all these plants and greenery. It's a testament to them that they have an even bigger Thai restaurant competing with them 2 doors down and they're still here. I can see why, their food is delicious and they have great customer service. I always enjoy coming here after visiting Vroman's across the street. I've had their green curry, pad kee mao, tried the fried sweet and sour fish, and their fried rice. Everything was amazing. In particular though, the fish and fried rice were standouts. Most flavorful rice I've ever had, and the fish was fantastic! So crispy despite being smothered in a delicious sauce that's different from Chinese sweet and sour. PARKING: Parked in a lot near the Pasadena Playhouse and walked over. SEATING: There are lots of seats inside and outside but they fill up quick! Came to eat here before a play at 7PM at the Playhouse and got there around 5:10PM. Inside was completely full but outside had seating. It was nice! But there was a 20 minute wait after we sat down. SERVICE: It seemed a bit slow as I was sat outside but I didn't need much. They took the order and the food came out promptly. Just didn't see anyone again until the check and boxes were needed. No complaints really. I'm sure they are attentive when they aren't slammed. FOOD: Wow! Food came out quick and piping hot! The appetizers were amazing! The way they breaded the calamari had such an interesting contrast with the squid that I kept going back to it! So flavorful especially with the sauce. The pad thai was amazing! The right firmness with the noodles and the taste was phenomenal! Wish they added more shrimp as there were only 2 but I get it. There was plenty of chicken though! Chicken in every bite and a healthy amount of beansprouts. Was even better with the pickled chili. Nine & Nine did not disappoint! I stopped by at lunch for the first time and thought that the lunch special was great value, considering it was $12.50. I think it's definitely hard to come by nowadays, especially at dine-in restaurants. The lunch special comes with an entree, salad, and a choice of egg rolls or dumplings. I ordered the lunch yellow curry with two egg rolls (which were sooo delicious). The yellow curry was perfectly creamy and spicy. My only complaint is that the beef was on the dry side. Met some friends here for a nice Thai dinner. Food was incredible! Vegetable egg rolls - I didn't sample but they were crispy and a decent size. Good value Crab Rangoon - I really liked these as they had more crab filling than most Pineapple Fried Rice - tasty but the protein was lacking Pad See Ew - perfectly cooked and nice flavor. We got ours with shrimp and the shrimp were a nice size Yellow Curry Chicken - hit the spot for the curry lover in our party. We got no spiciness but it seemed a bit on the sweet side Basil Chicken - Chicken was tender and dish was flavorful but could definitely use more basil Tom Yum soup - added fish for the protein and there were lots of big pieces of fish. I came here for mango sticky rice and a Singha beer. Before i was even half done eating the rice and mango, they brought the check and stuck it in the middle of the table. Then, they came back every 5 minutes to ask if I wanted to pay the bill although I hadn't finished my food. One lady went through all options, do you want to Apple Pay, do you want visa, do you want to pay cash???? Pressure, pressure, pressure to turn the table and get you out of the place. Did I mention that I still hadn't finished my food? Food was good. Singha beer is always nice, but if they want to turn tables to maximize profits, they need to set a time limit and hold all diners to the limit. read more

Lunch special was about $12, and came with one entree, a side salad, and choice of egg rolls or dumplings. The curry was super good, mild spice, came with bell peppers and a lot of chicken. The sauce was a good texture, and the bell peppers were fresh and not overcooked. The only thing I wasn't a fan of were the egg rolls.
