I have used Chaos to Order three times now and have always appreciated the guidance and hard work the organizers put in. I first used the service a few years ago when I was having my floors refinished after a plumbing leak, which involved packing up as if I was moving. Not wanting to pack and unpack years of clutter and only having a few days before the start of work, I had Chaos to Order work with me for two full days and it just made a world of difference. The organizer even ended up helping me figure out what type of organizational systems I needed in my closets. I still remember some good tips like: gift cards are like cash, so keep them in your wallet. About a year later, after the floors and other re-design work (like the installation of the closets), I had Chaos to Order come back briefly to help me finalize the organization so that my place was fully polished in advance of visiting guests. The organizer had a decorator's eye. I have barely moved anything around since then and pretty consistently know where to find things I'm looking for, which means that the decisions were perfect. Finally, I just used the service again to re-organize my kitchen. I was getting frustrated about how often I had to pull out all my pots and pans to find what I needed. In this case, I sent pictures and measurements ahead of time to see if I should get any organizing systems, but their advance guidance was what was available to buy didn't really save any space or ultimately solve the problem. They saved me from spending a lot of money on things I probably wouldn't have been happy with. The organizer Kaye came and systematically asked about how I use the kitchen. She emptied out all the cabinets and began creating the logic behind what would go where. Sometimes, items were placed based on proximity to where they would be used. Other times, items were grouped based on utility (e.g. baking stuff will go all the way in the back of this closet since you don't use it much) or material (Corningware here, plastics there, glass service bowls over here). I cooked that night and was suddenly able to get access to all my pots and pans so much more easily. I got rid of some stuff too, and one thing Kaye helped with was realizing I actually had more space than I thought and was just blocking parts of it with some bulky items placed badly. I have had a different organizer each time and would use each one again. They have all been super-smart and friendly professional women, two of them semi-retired and literally doing this because they genuinely love the work. Kaye is a successful artist and sees the works as a type of beautification. She cared a lot about how I use the space and was extremely collaborative. In every case, I worked with the organizer for a while and then they worked independently. Each worked very hard, and more than once finished the project about 15 minutes early and insisted on figuring out how to fill the remaining time productively. In a few months, I plan to have Kaye (if available) come back and help reorganize my wardrobe. This is a professional service with excellent customer communication from Karen. They obviously put serious effort into finding talented people. The clearer you are on the goals you want to accomplish, obviously, the more they'll be able to help. But even if you just know you want things to be more organized generally, they could help you prioritize well. I recommend them highly. read more

I was THRILLED when Chaos To Order agreed to come over and help me with my chaotic kids' room, of all things. No job too small (or weird). I was a little embarrassed at the state of this room in my house, but was assured that there is absolutely NO JUDGEMENT...only support. I think the very coolest thing that transpired over those few hours is the fact that Monica spent significant time with each of my daughters INDIVIDUALLY, without the distractions of other siblings (or even parents), in order to get a good glimpse into what they value. Each girl enjoyed sorting through toys, stuffed animals, and clothing with Monica. They all were just plopped on the floor, giggling, and enjoying the process. It was a great way to introduce just how much fun organization can be to the girls! The end result was ASTONISHING! I have cleaned / organized this room several times before. But the process of purging those things that were not needed nor desired, was both freeing to the girls AND freeing to their momma, who tends to keep way too many unnecessary toys and clothing, for the sake of sentimentality.
