I havehad to make several trips back to my old apartment with my caregiver to try to fit my hoyer lift into a car as well as what is show below. I would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to use this company at your own risk. The manager had seen my review and had refunded me a total of $200 which is what had been written in my previous review, stating how it would have been nice to be even offered $200-$300 as one of the men decided he'd rather not work and play on his phone and talk to other staff. Proceed with caution with Two Men and a Truck. If you call for an estimate and a potential pickup/move date and give them a credit card and you don't confirm the move they will charge your credit card. Giving them your credit card number apparently confirms your service date even if you do not sign the pre-email estimate. I found out the hard way. Maybe there is a class action here if others have had the same issue? They stated that they sent a text beforehand to confirm the pickup but that wasn't possible since they did not have my cellphone number. I used a landline for communicating with them when considering a potential date. Glad I kept that. read more

So I had been calling around trying to get my washer and dryer removed for my second floor apartment because I'm getting new ones. I needed them gone by a certain date we agreed to the date I was given a quote of about 180 to 220 and then I was called three different times to confirm. I called back all three times and on the third time I was like listen I've already talked to these people. I've given them my information. I've confirmed that I still need the service that they can come on Saturday between this time and that time yes I want the service done and then the guy said well. Did anybody give you a quote and I told him yes and then he said oh my gosh I'm so sorry but I don't know who quoted you that you're looking at more like 380 to 400. How the hell did it double??? Then proceeds to tell me well if any other jobs are out your way your price will go down because we'll have a reason to be out there now mind you I navigated to this place from my place and it's about 20 minutes away. I was so disappointed because I had to cancel my delivery pay extra fees all because I had to then find somebody else who who could do the job, I have to wait a whole extra week so I can wash and dry my clothes again. I am not happy. I'm extremely irritated. It's very unprofessional not to mention they called me after 5 o'clock on a Friday to tell me, never mind it's gonna cost you double what we said. and for context, I found another person to do it that actually is further from me and was only charging me 250. read more

By far the worse experience I have had with any company. They let boxes fall and did not secure the cargo in the truck. When they showed up, I saw many lamps and boxes had shifted during transit and had fallen. Most importantly, they destroyed my $650 computer monitor, by allowing it to either be stacked with other heavy boxes (when it clearly had fragile written on it) or had let it fall when they were walking it in with the handcart, and of course have refused to pay for it. They also constantly complained about having to move boxes upstairs. We used the Erlanger, Kentucky branch. Also, the customer service representative and supervisor both were incredibly rude people. AWFUL! Do not use this company unless you want your movers to wreak like marijuana, wrap your furniture up horribly, and drop your furniture by accident right in front of you. Every single piece of furniture that they moved had damage to it. I have pictures of my furniture before and after. This includes a brand new king mattress that they sliced with a knife when unwrapping it, wripped the legs off of our new bed frame causing it to be unstable, dropped our presidential wood desk on our hardwood floors in our new house, and left numerous marks and a huge oil stain on our large sectional couch. With all of this damaged that was incurred, two men and a truck came back to say they would compensate me $46.00. This company is a scam and their movers are no where qualified to be professional movers. Not one piece of moving equipment was used. My roommate used Two Men and a Truck, and it cost her a fortune! Movers arrived at 8:30 a.m.. One of the movers showed up with a back injury!! Decided he couldn't work on this move with all the stairs. So, one guy was left doing all the moving for a few hours while Two Men worked on getting that guy some help. They weren't able to finish packing up the truck until 12:30. Her elevator time at the new property was 1:00. Her new place was 2 miles north, and the movers took an hour and a half lunch, so she missed her elevator time. They got everything moved in (keep in mind this is a 1-bedroom apartment). They didn't leave until 8 p.m.. Apparently they were having a hard time putting her bed together. It tripled the cost of her quoted time, and she was left to foot the bill for Two Men and a Truck's poor time and people management. At the end of the day, she paid close to $1k for a 2 mile move and a one bedroom apartment. read more

I hired four men, I got 3 kids that had very little interest in moving things with some haste. They over charged me twice. How is it possible to pay $3k for a move within the building? The short version: Do not hire this company. They grossly overcharged me, never got my couch down the stairs, and their customer service team was dismissive. The full story: The three man team they sent were inexperienced and did not bring any tools with them. As the company charges an hourly rate, there is no incentive for the crew to work quickly and efficiently. I was moving to a relatively adjascent Chicago neighborhood and mainly hired movers because I needed a couch and a queen bed moved. They left both of these items until last, after all of my boxes and smaller furniture was loaded onto the truck, so one guy worked on disassembling the large items while the other two stood around. They worked on my bed frame (a typical IKEA model) for 45 minutes and could not get the feet off of my couch. They had to go to Home Depot in the middle of the move to acquire more specific tools only to come back and discover they still did not work to get the feet off the couch. At this point, they asked if I would like for them to continue working on it or to send out another crew later with appropriate tools. I requested the latter, as they had assured me both options would have the same cost. Then they continued working on the couch for two more hours. This included them getting the couch stuck on the second floor of the back staircase of my building. They asked me to bother my downstairs neighbor to ask if they could move it through his apartment to get to the front staircase (the top flight was impassable due to a curve in the stairs). They eventually left the couch in my old apartment and continued with the move of the rest of my belongings. When they brought it back upstairs, the couch was covered in dust and they did not set it up as it had been even though I told them my landlord was showing the apartment the following day.  At the end of the move, the crew informed me they had to charge me the hourly fee for the extra time they spent working on the couch (about an extra $500 from the quote they had originally given me). When we asked what the options were for resolving the issue with the couch as the service we were being asked to pay for was not rendered, they said they couldn't call their managers as it was after 5pm and the crew leader's phone was dead. They encouraged me to call customer service the following day. I did so and the customer service rep (Valerie) was incredibly dismissive. When I informed her that midway through the move I had requested the option in which someone else came out later to work on the couch, she replied with "why did you allow them to continue working if you had already requested they stop". They would not give me a refund for the time taken to not move my couch, and they would only send out another mover at their regular hourly rate (on top of what I had already paid).  This company functions under the assumption that the customer knows more about the moving process than the "professional" movers they hired to do the job. According to them, the customer must supply their own tools, dictate the pacing of the move, and determine when a task is not possible. I requested the issue be escalated to management, but I was never able to actually speak to a manager- they just rerouted me back to Valerie who spouted the same non-solution. I refused to give this company another cent of my money, and as a result, had to leave my couch with the new tenant of my old apartment. read more

To the driver of a two men and a truck moving service that was driving sunday between 11:15 11:30am on hall road in macomb twp mi at the michigan turn around in front of walmart and menards. (Driver had a grey and black beard and some young punk that wants to run his mouth in the passenger seat) Your supposed to yield to traffic that is making a right hand turn coming out of the side street at the corner of Hall rd or m59 and market place blvd. THERE IS A SIGN STATING THIS AT THE CORNER BEFORE THE LIGHT. You didn't have the right of way until it was clear of all of us that were turnong right. These two people are very rude and unprofessional and should be ashamed of themselve for the language the used against my wife and I. I'm not going to repeat it. Within 8 months, pulling out and going through boxes, I realized that my bin of Christmas wrapping, bags, bows and Christmas boxes was missing. This is my first time using Two men and a truck. The movers were amazing and diligent. However, I had very frustrating experience with the sales Sean and the bookkeeping team. During the moving day (Feb 22nd), they increased the price by $1800 saying my coach was a bit oversized. Then after they took the stuff to the warehouse, they decided that it fit perfectly well and the overcharge was not necessary. However, they did not notify me of this change, nor did they decide to issue me refund until I called at March 1st and asked for an updated receipt. Then the sales person Sean said oh we will issue you a refund. Two weeks pasted, I did not get anything. I emailed Sean again, and he was like, oh shoot let me loop in the bookkeeping team (apparently no one had done anything to issue me the refund). Then the bookkeeper asked me for address and then just disappeared for another 2 weeks. I followed up, and she was like, shoot turned out no one bothered to work on it. Then on April 4th, she said the check has been mailed out. Till today, I still have not received the check. No response from the bookkeeper anymore. It has been 2 months since my move, and they just casually raised the price on site, forcing you to take it or leave it on the moving day, then decide to quietly adjust the price back without saying anything, and when confronted, they pretended that they will refund you but for one month, no one did anything and the $1800 check just takes forever to arrive. Despite the high ratings of this company and the diligent services the movers provide, I am very disappointed at the Customer Service team. read more

The quote was on the lower side than actual but the movers who I had were fast, efficient and extremely professional. Mathew ,Conor and Reece were super respectful of my items, Conor helped me to clean up a spill with napkins, they made sure to ask where I wanted items placed etc. They were not moving slow at all, and they moved in the rain !! DO NOT USE- terrible management, way too pricey, broken items, and refused to pay for the items they broke. We recently moved into a 2 BR. The movers themselves were very easy to work with and pleasant, but the management is rude, unresponsive, and will unfairly charge you. We had a move that went later than expected. We asked them to bring a couch that does not fit in the new unit back to our storage unit. They said that because it was too late, they would keep it on their truck over the weekend until Monday morning and bring it to our unit then. They said it would be $200 to store it on their truck, which is understandable. We called Monday morning to ensure they were bringing it to our storage unit so we could go open it up for the movers. They said they would call back, and never did. We called back later in the week. They said we needed to pay for each night it was stored on their truck, yet they never called us back to schedule the drop off at our storage unit. Even when we called to sort it out, the management kept passing the phone call off to someone else and would not give us direct instructions on what to do with the couch. We ended up selling the couch to a friend and asked them to bring it to a friend's apartment. It arrived with rips in the fabric and damage to the edges. They also charged an additional delivery fee (which is fair, the workers should be paid). Then, they offered to have a professional come fix the couch. They called us back this morning and said they would no longer be doing that and said they will pay us $125 for the couch. It's a $2,500 couch. They also broke TV counsel, and made no mention of paying for it. This company will do anything to make money off of you. read more

Only use this company if you'd like your items stolen and the price you were told for a quote to double. I'll start with the stealing first, like other commentators noted they stole hundreds of dollars of liquor from us. Only 1 box is missing from our stuff and it is bottles of full, unopened bourbon. We had special bottles in our collection, many were only available in Chicago and we wanted to keep them as sentimental pieces, but now they are gone and in the hands of these thieves. We did a long distance move with this company from Chicago to Charlotte, NC. We called for a quote and were told $5400 with a delivery to Charlotte in 10-14 days. When they arrived at our apartment & started taking our boxes they mentioned that their supervisor would come by to discuss final pricing. He came into our home and said that our new price would be over $10,000; however if we wanted to opt for their expedited service it would only be $8,000. It felt like a bait and switch but what choice did we have but to go with the expedited service? I firmly believe that they gave us a 'cheaper' quote to reel us in and then dropped the bomb on us when it was too late and we were already stuck with them. Our stuff left Chicago on a Monday and somehow still took until 6pm on Friday for our stuff to arrive at our new place. Bottom line - don't book these people but if you do be prepared to pay WAY more than they told you and don't let them anywhere near anything of value because they will take it. read more

PREDATORY BUSINESS PRACTICES! 1. "Insurance" Coverage was sold to me for $50 which supposedly covers up to $10,000 "in valuation". Before the move began, I was offered this $50 "coverage" and then was required to sign a waiver of liability that waives Two Men and a Truck from all liability for damages of furniture etc. I was told a liability waiver must be signed in order for the move to happen and was under time pressure because the movers showed up late to the move (9:15 when they were supposed to arrive between 8-9 AM). I had a freight elevator reservation from 9-11 AM and had little time to scrutinize each and every detail of the $50 coverage I bought. It was not explained to me that the $50 in fact cannot be used to cover furniture damages since I proceeded to sign the liability waiver. My understanding was that the coverage was what I would use to file any claims etc. for broken items. 2. Following the move, I saw that my couch seemed to be bending in an odd manner. I proceeded to check the frame and saw that the couch had been broken in several places. During the move, the two movers definitely had forced the couch into the freight elevator in an awkward angle resulting in the frame fracture (I wish I would've filmed this because I knew this was such a poor method of moving furniture into the elevator). I called Two Men and a Truck to file a claim and was told that because I waived them of all liability, I would not be able to apply the coverage I had purchased and have my couch repaired or replaced. They also insinuated that I myself could have caused the damage upon moving the furniture into the storage unit which is completely ridiculous because I moved each individual portion of the sofa myself with my partner and we were incredibly careful. This is the nicest piece of furniture I've ever owned and would never move it in such a way that could lead to damage. I thought I could rely on Two Men and a Truck to have the same diligence and carefulness to be able to move a couch that 1) is incredibly light and 2) easy to move because it consists of three single pieces instead of a large and heavy 100+ inch couch. 3. Separate but related - the two movers were unprofessional and did not know what they were doing. The order and logic in which they moved my furniture was inefficient and dangerous. They dropped my mattress and bed frame pieces several times and almost hit someone in the atrium of my apartment floor because of the way they stacked the bed frame pieces in the elevator. I began moving pieces of my own furniture because I became nervous at much they were stuffing into the elevators and how they were stacking pieces of furniture on the dollies they used. 4. The only thing they said they could do was refund me the $50 coverage. I will be taking them to small claims court in order to have them honor the coverage they sold to me for $50 which was said to have covered up to $10,000 dollars in valuation. I had them move 6 pieces of furniture and three small boxes from the valparaiso, indiana area to the northern end of cook county, Illinois. I couldn't do it myself because it involved a grandfather clock and I'm very pregnant (high risk) and couldn't manage the 2 hour drive each way. they underestimated my quote, telling me that it's going to be an additional ~$400 after they dropped everything off at the illinois address, bringing the total to a ridiculous almost $2000 for this tiny move. additionally, when I scheduled with them and put down the down payment, they never told me that I'd need to pay the estimated remaining amount via money order or certified check. I didn't find out until they called to confirm 3 days before the move so I had to drop everything I was doing to run to the bank to get the cashiers check. I recommend finding a different company, which is what I'll be doing in the future. read more

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. I have never worked with such an incompetent and unprofessional staff in my life. I reached out for a quote on Wednesday to move on Friday. I was happy when Brad reached out and quoted me $800 for the move in. he told me it would take 2 hours and the following times he had available were 12-2, 1-3, and 2-4. I confirmed that I was able to reserve my moving elevator for 2-4. So that time was set. Today is Friday. I got to my loading address and waited until about 20 minutes. At this point my phone is dying and there's no chairs or anything So I am sitting on a roCK waiting for these people. I call and I ask where everyone was and they said they are running behind and will be there at 3:30. I had taken the bus and it took me 40 minutes to get down there. So, I was not going to leave and come back. I told them that Brad stated that I have a 2 hour window 2-4 why aren't they here. They called the movers and the movers stated that they could be there at 3pm. The manager ensured that they would be there. I said "if you're sure, I will be waiting there at 3." So I wait the 40 minutes at a nearby park sitting on a bench. At 3pm I head back to my storage unit, still no sign of them. Back on the rock and to waiting I go. 3:30 rolls around and no sign of them. And then I get a call at 3:47 from the movers that they Had just finished their previous job and they were on the way. They will be there at 5pm. ??!!???? Excuse me. I have been waiting for 2 HOURS. sitting on a rock in the blazing sun in 87 degree weather with a dead phone and trying to contact people on my watch. When the manager called me to explain all he says is that the movers were running behind and that this was normal. Not ONCE did he apologize. this is the same man that ENSURED that they will be there at 3pm. All he says is, so what do you want to do??? hmmmm... do i want to sit here and keep wasting my day.. or reschedule. At this point it is 4:20PM. My elevator window has closed and my apartment complex cannot extend as TWO other people are moving in behind me. So that means if the movers DO come they will have to wait until who ever is moving in is done. And what does that mean? I get charged by the hour for holding the men there waiting. When I told the idiot manager this, he says well yeah would you like to reschedule or.... This was SUCH an unprofessional experience. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I told the manager that he was waisting my time, and that he's already wasted 2 hours of my time and to give me back my $100 deposit. He says okay, have a good day???? I initially was rather pleased with the move the TMT did for me. However, there has been an issue with their handling of a damaged tv. My move was at the end of July, and to date, I have yet to receive the compensation that was agreed upon. When to make a complaint, I had to leave a message. Absolute nightmare of a move. I reached out to Two Men and a Truck to move my one bedroom apt, storage unit, and home gym. They gave me a quote and I accepted. I later wrote them a second email ensuring they could handle my treadmill and gym. He reassured me that they would take it apart and put everything back together. Team shows up on time to move and we do a walk through where they have now seen everything and verified the move capabilities with another signature from me. They start to move and send the money via their electronic system. We have pets so as they begin to move, we take them from the city to the burbs. On our way, we get a call saying that there is more then they expected and the move is going to be another $800. I don't have a choice at this point, as they have half of my possessions on a truck, so I sign. When I return back to the city to the movers, they have been moving at a snails pace (which is the least of my concerns with this move, which is crazy since I am being charged by the hour) and they tell me that they misjudged the amount of stuff we have and they are going to have to leave the gym. Later they tell me that the gym is not movable at all. After several calls and arguments, they send a crew out to move the gym AND CHARGE ME ANOTHER $1,000 (plus we are tipping no less then $120 each move because it is not the laborers fault). Here is the best part, my gym was left completely a mess, everything is disassembled and I have to pay another company to finish the job. The logistics team was terrible and I am going to pursue legal action to recover my money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL MOVE. P.S. broke several hue light bulbs, no shoe coverings in our new house, took entirely too long, movers were inexperienced and young. When I called, I was connected right away to the N Hubbard offices near me in Chicago. Matt was excellent on the phone - very understanding and transparent about all scheduling and costs. Four movers came to my apartment the next day - on time, and with ample notice. They carried my precious family upright piano up three narrow flights of stairs to its new home. It was not an easy task. They were cheerful and efficient. Sunny was patient and clear and took me through the paperwork step-by-step. Their payment systems were secure and protected. The process was smooth. Sunny talked me through the insurance options, and I ended up paying $100 less than the lowest quote I was given over the phone. Huge thank you to Sunny, Jorje, Vera, and Aiden for getting my piano in safely and quickly. I used two men and a truck for both packing and moving on 4/19 and 4/20. During the move, a wall was damaged and a damage claim was filed. After the movers left, I noticed some damage to a baseboard nearby the damaged walls and also during unpacking, found a couple items damaged due to not being wrapped properly during packing. One was a pair of designer shoes, the heel was digging into the bottom of the other shoe, causing the red sole to be torn apart. The second item, a decorative box, the trim pulled off. I was told I would be contacted within a few days about the damage, but never was. I reached out about the damaged, scheduled a time for someone to come look at it but that person never showed up during our scheduled time. Over the next couple of weeks, I have since called twice and left messages with no response. read more

They were careful in their work, thorough, and kind. Their work was efficient and organized. It took less time than I thought. I have asked Two Men and a Truck to move things in the past and if the occasion arises to move furniture in the future, I will call them again. I have faith in their work. read more

My $2,000 room and board couch was damaged in the moving process. I had purchased insurance- the expectation that it would cover 6k worth of damage. Unfortunately, my couch was ripped and the cost of new fabric and reupholstery was deemed more expensive than the value of my couch. I now need to reupholster myself or purchase a new sofa. Its been 3 months and the claims process is still not complete. When I am able to get a hold of the Chicago claims rep (Elizabeth) I was given a different outcome/monetary amount each time. I'm now being told I will get a pay out of $960- which does not cover the cost of repair or replacement of my couch. This move ended up costing me double- as I now have to purchase a new couch- as I was only reimbursed 40% of its value. I do not recommend their services. They have very suspicious insurance practices and will not replace your precious items when damaged. read more
