I came in and ordered 2 tacos one beef one chicken, a side of beans, sour cream and salsa. My order didn't come out for close to an hour. The manager said there was a mix up in the kitchen. When the waitress gave me my food she asked if I needed anything else.. I said yes, salsa and sour cream. Then I realized my tacos were both beef. The manager came over and told me she would fix it. I've been coming here for several years, always had great service and great food, but tonight was perhaps the worse I've had anywhere!!! Tonight's waitstaff if horrible, slow and unprofessional. Had to ask for chips and salsa, had to ask three times for the spicy salsa, the waiter didn't know what a Arnold Palmer was, had to ask for silverware and a refill, the table next to us got up and left after ten minutes of waiting for a server to take a beverage order. Best Mexican food around Merritt island an all of brevard county!!!! I drive all the way from north Merritt island just to eat here. Prices are great the people are friendly .sweet tea is always good. And the foods great!!!! They even just remodeled the place so its even nicer. Love this place!!! UGH!! We've been on a quest to find decent Mexican food in the general area, and I guess we'll have to keep looking. When we went to Chaparral the front desk was abandoned, so we waited for a few minutes to be seated. The chips were fine but the salsa tasted like mashed tomatoes, and the guacamole was equally bland. After ordering dinner we waited for what seemed a very long time, only to be presented with lukewarm enchiladas. I also had ordered a shredded beef taco. The taco was hot but was ground beef, so I asked for the correct taco. In the meantime I ate the lukewarm enchilada, but my husband sent his back and ordered a shredded beef taco. When mine arrived I took a bite and spit it right back out - the beef was rancid. Eeeew! My husband's taco was also rancid. The manager didn't charge us for it, but she just wanted to argue with us and we couldn't wait to get out of there. Avoid this place or run the risk of food poisoning. read more

This place is pretty good in terms of food/drink selection but there is just something about the ambiance. Too dark and not enough energy. Good news for vegetarians, they have a separate menu with more than reasonable pricing (almost everything is under $10). Margarita specials on Monday are nice (two for one also about $10) but sometimes can be more mixer than the good stuff. If you're looking for some decent Mexican food but without the fun Mexican restaurant vibes, this place is for you. read more

Went on Taco Tuesday. What an amazing twist they have with the citrus marinated chicken taco in the soft shell.

The service was great, the food though is the norm for mexican food in this area. Not the best that I've ever had...but it's not taco bell (except maybe for their sopapillas). The portions were generous. The enchildas rancheras and carne asada were satisfying. However, I'd be open to trying something else on their menu the next time I visit. Found on Yelp! Husband baby and I were looking for someplace other than a drive through to eat lunch/dinner in Cocoa. Food was comparable to someplace like, say, El Potro in the Orlando area. Had the Argentinian inspired steak marinated in garlic sauce with Chimmichurri sauce. Ordered yucca fries, got yellow rice and beans. The steak was delicious if a bit over the medium rare I ordered. Waitress was hilariously uninvolved. Shift change was at 4, and we came in at 3:30. My husband asked what HER favorite dish was, and she actually struggled while flipping through the menu... first saying, "Well, I work here so I eat here all the time, and am sick of everything! " and then, after hearing that my husband liked all Hispanic food, said that he would probably like anything on the menu. She even told us there was no rush to order because she was happy to have the 4:00 waitress take us.... ha! At any rate, the 2 for 1 margaritas sated my margarita craving, my steak was yummy, and the service was, if not exactly attentive, definitely entertaining. I did notice that the 4pm waitresses coming on shift were perkier and more "authentic" looking than our day shift waitress. Why, they even had accents! Been here many times and had a great meal, but this time was a total disappointment. They were busy so had to wait a little while to order and get our food. I had ordered a beef chimichanga and it ended up being more of a bean burrito with very little meat. Floor manager saw that I wasn't eating it and offered to correct it by making another one, but I told her politely it was okay and kept my dinner as is. Another person in our party had the same with his chimichanga. Also brought us a fajita plate instead of the fajita salad so they just poured that into a salad bowl. Paid the bill and then the manager said they forgot to charge us for another item that was a suppose to be a side and gave us another bill for that item at the cost of a full meal. So much for pleasing the customer, just piss them off and charge them more seems to be they're way of correcting their kitchen problems. read more

Make sure you ask what has been made fresh that day because they prepare and serve for days later. Have gotten bad beef.

My Mom and I were looking for a small diner but all in the area were out of business. I didnt feel like going over the bridge to Merritt Island, and we saw Chaparral. Omg..It was fantastic! The people were friendly and the poor waiter was so patient when Mom couldnt decide what to get ..lol..I got the vegetarian fajitas and Mom got the steak fajitas..the portions were huge and tasted wonderful.. even the white rice was great!! Even the salad, which was only lettuce, tomato and cheese was great! Im not a big Mexican food fan due to health issues but I WILL be going back! read more
