Felt good to be back here and able to sit down to drink coffee and eat some cakes. They limit the experience time there to 2 hours maximum because of social distancing. To be honest, we prefer their cake/pastry more than we like their coffee. The coffee for my husband was kinda lack of flavor. I myself ordered matcha and it was not up to my expectation either. But the cake were delicious, not so sweet with lots of sugar, not a big slice, easy to eat. Will definitely be back for more cake/pastry but maybe not coffee.

Raspberry mango cheesecake and strawberry shortcake

Stopped in to grab dessert this weekend and my Boyfriend and I were not overly impressed with our selections. The presentation was absolutely beautiful, but we weren't wowed by the flavors. I tried the raspberry mango cheesecake, and it was a little too light an fluffy for my liking. (I prefer a rich and dense piece of cheesecake.) It also had a layer of what seemed like a jellied fruit purée on top, and the texture didn't mesh well with the fluffiness [imo]. The raspberry and mango flavors were too faint in the actual cheesecake as well. My boyfriend had the strawberry short cake and he thought it just tasted like white cake with frosting, and would have loved for the strawberry flavor to pull through better. We will be giving Chapelure another try at their Eastwood location to see if we maybe just picked the wrong things!

It's almost as good as our 85degree cafe in Southern California, except the sea salt caffe I can't complain. Having pastries from Paris, to Sydney to California, I'm just glad they exist here period. So yummy!!!

    Iced latte, tiramisu

The iced latte is smooth; dark coffee may goes better with tiramisu. Overall, it is a comfortable place for coffee + bakery in the morning or afternoon, with friends or being alone. Seats by the window give the best view and the most inspiration.

It was a neat place to stop in between activities. The coffee is good. They bake everything onsite. The glass case is full of gorgeous yummies. The chocolate Danish was wonderful and the tiramisu cup was just enough. Lots of comfy seating too. Would be a great place to have an informal meeting or study group.

Chapelure, or 'breadcrumbs' is an upscale pastry shop in East Lansing. The place has easy parking and is immaculate inside. Grab a tray and tongs when you enter and fill your every pastry delight! There are the typical 'sweet' pastries like danishes and salty ones filled with meat and cheese. There are also many different types of cakes (purchase by the slice) and a full coffee and tea bar. Seating inside is ample with couches, tables, chairs, etc. This place is for all age ranges (not just college students). Prices are reasonable for fresh pastries. Not sure if there is a comparable place in East Lansing so you'll want to check it out if you're in the area.

cherry & blueberry= mainstream, something you can have elsewhere . BEST=(jamando, custard, filled, and croissant pastries, jam&cheese)

Since Chapelure opened this has been thee go to place to for coffee & incredible pastries. What drove me to try this place years ago was my French professor saying this place had the best croissants he had everrrr had outside of France ( which he visited very frequently!) He also said the pastry Chef was trained in Paris. They make their pastries every morning, the ones with custard and almond paste & custard are incredible. Even the plain croissants are out of this world buttery flakey soft and delectable. The coffee is great and the ambiance and staff are extremely inviting. After 7pm the pastries are half off ( if there are any left) get there early ! What an amazing spot in Lansing, Lansing is extremely privileged to have this level of quality and deliciousness because there's not much of this level of excellence in Lansing, but Chapelure takes the cake. (If you don't love these pastries you don't love your own motha! )*said with a Boston accent

He was damn good in making the coffee, everytime I took my coffee from there it was with the same taste and awesome. He was also so good in greeting the people and helping them with their orders. But IDK what happened and I am not seeing that guy anymore there. Now some new persons are serving there and running. Literally since then I am missing my BLUE OWL CAFE AU LAIT so much. The people now serving there are not doing there job seriously and ruining my morning mood daily. I am liking the taste at all. I really asked if it's possible to do something for that, otherwise no problem there are more coffee places. I just really wish you guys could do better with that guy. Also one more incident I would like to share that the person now serving is literally not taking the job seriuosly becuse he gave me my coffee cup with the bigger lid which wasn's fit on the cup at all and that I wasn't aware of. When I drank my coffee it was all over me with that lid, so you can now understand what is happening. I am not very happy btw. Thanks though.

Galley-like set up as you walk in. Breakfast diner vibes more than 'cafe and bakery'. Kitchen to your left as you walk down short corridor into cafe. Sloth-like chill attitude encouraged; the hashtag is #letshangtogether. Had fun looking at all the little sloth decor throughout. Lots of light and glass. VERY limited seating; seats about 15 (?) inside; mostly 2 tops and a 6 top. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly, permitted to sit where ever we would like, then handed menus. Turkish music playing was just a bit too loud. Hospitality. Friendly and helpful. Owner-chef seemed very happy to be there, singing and engaging with his regulars. Offerings. Basic breakfast and lunch items with Turkish and Mediterranean classics. No flavored lattes but other basic espresso drinks offered. Chai was excellent. Had the Turkish coffee because it was a Turkish joint; was REALLY good; strong. We had the Simit Platter; sesame-like NY bagel, feta chunks, and olives. All very good. See pics. Apparently they offer cooking classes, catering, and meal prep pick-up -- for ever-changing healthier, fresh, easy-prep take-out options. Of Note and Last Impressions. Lot parking. Overall, fun.

It was tasty and even better with the bread they provided. It could've been packaged in a better way because the oil dripped out everywhere by the time we got it home. Maybe a plastic container with a tight fitting lid. The mezze platter was also quite nice, especially the carrot appetizer. The bulgur patties were also flavorful. The artichoke was slightly disappointing because it didn't have any other flavor than salt and vinegar, similar to canned/bottled artichokes. The salad was fresh and the dressing was light. Overall, this was a light and tasty lunch.
