Dinner here on the patio. I was with my daughter so we ate in the non smoking section. My burger was delicious and the fries were good. Cezar salad wasn't worth the extra $$. Chaplin's has Kamakize Karaoke Wednesday night, then basic karaoke Friday and Saturday night. I cannot stress enough the fun factor of this little bar. I went to karaoke last night. The place was packed. It's so much fun to watch such a diverse group of people party, dance, sing and there are crazy, weird things that happen everytime I go. I am never disappointed. We visited on a Friday night hoping to get some karaoke in.. never been there before. Took a chance even though the ratings were mediocre. It was dead at 11p. The service was typical of a bar, we didn't expect too much. It was extremely smoky.. again typical of a bar... but the drinks... were terrible. First they didn't have a drink menu, and the server had no idea what was in their mixed drinks. My friend ordered a Long Island that tasted like a lemonade but not even good. The beer on tap tasted watered down and the service declined as the night went on.. when we asked a server who wasn't our server to help because she was busy, he seemed bothered by us asking... there wasn't hardly anyone in the place! we stayed a little over and hour and left. This place certainly has potential based on location alone! It could be great, but they need to hire new servers, a new bartender and update the place a bit. Maybe then we will be back. Thank GAWD, there is a new KJ!!! Brian is a complete breath of fresh air. I have been coming to Chaplins for years to enjoy the Come as You are laid back, yet energetic atmosphere. And now Wed, Fri, & Sat nights just got better! I typically, start the night with some nourishment (i.e the delicious Philly, bad ass wings, chicken fingers - enough said) that way the drink specials don't carry me away for the night. Because when you go to Chaplins, you want to be there for the duration 9:30PM tll 2:00AM. If you want to people watch, this is the place! There is always a story to tell or a character written. I always love going for a group celebration, whether it be a birthday, going away party, or the weekend. It's always a great kick-off spot or a night cap. Me and my husband just had our third and last bad experience at Chaplins. And whats sad is the fact that we used to be semi-regulars at this place that used to give exemplary customer service! But boy has this place gone down hill! The last two times we've eaten there we've waited 20 mins just for a waitress to take our order! And then we had to go and find a waitress to bring us our bill so that we could pay! Which makes this last experience even more humiliating! Me and my husband were taking a leisurely walk around historic Roswell and got thirsty. So we decided to give our old haunt one more chance, but this time just to get a tea to go. We walked in and were immediately confronted by a downright narcistic waitress who demands to know what we want. And when I explain to her that all we want is a to go drink she retorts "what do you want? A cocktail?" With this unneccessarily smart-aleck remark she immediately let me know how much better than me she believes she is. I kept my cool and ordered a sweet tea and while she got it I used the ladies room. I came back out and offered her my debit card to pay for it to which she scoffed, "oh really?! You can just have the tea sweetie. Ok? " Honestly first on previous visits we have to literally flag down a waittess just so we can pay! And then on our next visit we're practically accused of attempting to steal a tea? Really? In conclusion as far as we're concerned since this waitress was to lazy and rude to slide our card so we could pay we just got a free tea! And since its gotten to where we feel downright unwelcome and degrated everytime we go to this place we will be going elsewhere from now on! read more

Chaplin's is one of a kind. Located 1/4 of a mile south of Roswell square, Chaplin's is an awesome dive bar and always a good time. The service is great, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is fun. If you're eating: my friend enjoyed the fried mushrooms tonight, and I recommend the burgers and chicken fingers. They have a diverse menu and everything I've tried has been delicious. Like many bars in Atlanta, you can smoke in Chaplin's. I am a nonsmoker, but the smoke hasn't bothered me while there. For all you other non-smokers, they have a lovely indoor/outdoor nonsmoking patio. They have a fully stocked bar AND KARAOKE- for all you karaoke lovers. Even if you're not singing it is still a lot of fun to hang out- more like a party. Chaplin's is a great place to watch a game at the bar, sing some karaoke, or head out for a night on the town with a group of friends. read more

I'm giving Chaplin's a 5-star rating, but only in it's genre: neighborhood pub. This is not a 5-star fine-dining experience but for a neighborhood pub, I love this place. Now that I've said that, I hate the INSIDE of this place. Smoky, seedy, a little scary. But there's a new non-smoking enclosed patio and an outdoor patio as well. Everytime I go to Chaplin's I take a Buy-One-Get-One coupon from either the Entertainment Book or the Valupak coupons in the mail. For 2 sandwiches and 2 Cokes, the tab is about $12. Their hamburgers are wonderful and are often voted Best in Roswell. I also love their club sandwich on Texas Toast and their side of grilled vegetables. It's a local dive kind of a place. The service is often slow but always friendly. I am very pleased with the quality and cost of Chaplin's. It's the best deal in town. read more

In an attempt to thwart business development by other local restaurants in the area, Chaplin's management and their friends post false Yelp reviews claiming their competitors serve expired food causing food poisoning and that food is prepared under unsanitary conditions. I was considering visiting this establishment, but after hearing about these shady tactics and reading them myself, I'll take my business elsewhere. It's pretty obvious someone's reviews are biased when they have only written two reviews - one being a 5-star review for their own restaurant and the other being a one-star review against a competitor. About two weeks ago me and two other friends headed out to Chaplins to take part in the Karaoke, we entered the place it was packed to and full of entertainers. we found a seat in the back in a booth made for two but alot of of the two seater booths had three people in them. we where there enjoying the brave souls up on stage. we got our karoke book and started to look for songs to sing. 20 minutes later the owner comes ask if we have been helped? we said no, we hadn't decided on anything but he just walked away saying let me get your server. they come back and the manager says to the server IF THEY DON'T ORDER SEND THEM OUTSIDE. mind you it was well into the 30's and he expected us to sit outside in on a patio with plastic on the windows and ceiling fans going. after he said that we asked the waiter what he said just to make sure we heard right, he acted as if he didn't know there table policy was. so he went to say something to the manager. a waitress passed by we asked her what the table policy was and she didn't know all she could give us was uh...............do want anything at all? we told her no and proceeded to leave. now we don't drink and may have ordered some soda or something but after that remark we passed. there was a table of ladies sitting across from us and they where shocked by this and where like what? they had no idea it was like that. needless to say we won't be returning. all we wanted to do was sing Karoke and have fun but i guess if your not a lush your not worth the time. read more

I should have read the reviews before wasting my time and money at Chaplins. I've been in Roswell for two years now, pass it all the time, always think that it must be good because of the location. We thought it was kinda gross when we got inside, but then found the shabby chic patio cute so we ordered wings. They weren't bad, so we ordered some food. It was horrible. They don't cook, they microwave!! I will never go back again. The owner should be ashamed of himself serving such substandard food. Pub food and even dive food can be good. The burgers are really the best, the chicken salad sandwich is amazing, the staff is wonderful. It is a bit smoky inside, but there is a really nice closed (in winter) patio that is heated where non smokers can feel comfortable. The owners, David and Joseph are super friendly. They also have karaoke Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. My friend Gracie likes to have lunch at this famous restaurant called Chaplin's. She always speaks highly about this restaurant. Finally, I ask her to take me to there. I didn't know what to expect of this place. When we walk in at Chaplin's the waitress greeted us. She took us at their wonderful heated patio. We order our cocktails. Remember this was my first time there, I didn't know what to order from their menu. This waitress was very kind to us; she took her time and recommends chicken salad, Rib eye steak, Chaplin's burger, wings, gyro, croissant melt, etc... Then I have to decide which food I wanted to order. While I was thinking, the waitress was giving us a history of Chaplin's. She mentioned that the restaurant has been there for 23 years. Most of all they have the best food in town and 90 percent of their customer are regulars. In addition, they have karaoke every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night. Also they have over 1000 songs. Anyway, Gracie ordered the wings and I ordered the rib eye with grilled veggies and a salad. I have to admit the waitress and Gracie were right about this place. That was the best steak I've had in a long time. The meat was tender and well seasoned. On the other hand, the veggies were delicious, I almost leek my plate. I realized that the restaurant has been there for so many years because they give good service and they have the best food in town. Ever since that day, Chaplin's became my favorite place to hang out with my love ones. I definitely give them 5 stars. read more

We love Chaplins. Great burgers. Great chicken fingers. My wife loves the grilled fish and vegetables (she's a health nut). We come with our kids to have dinner on the air-conditioned patio. The inside area is more of a bar area. It kind of feels like the old TV show Cheers, with many friendly regulars that appear to know each other (and the staff) quite well. We hear they have a great karaoke show, though we haven't been by to try it out. read more

Okay, I'm an avid karaoke fan. I'm visiting Atlanta for the first time, and I read that this place was the BEST karaoke bar outside the perimeter (of ATL). THEY LIED. The drinks are SUPER expensive... $8 for a shot of Jameson? That karaoke better be good.... it's NOT. The DJ (some older black guy) is completely ridiculous. Not only does he let his favorite people sing two or even THREE times in a row, but he himself started off the night with TWO songs in a row. I was there for two hours and only did one song while I watched others do two or three, sometimes IN A ROW. Before we angrily left I told the DJ I was leaving because he is unfair and he made excuses and blah blah blah. We asked to speak to a manager and he listened to my boyfriend but not to me, either because I'm over weight or because I'm a woman. All around, this was a TERRIBLE experience from someone who was soooo looking forward to a good time. Next time I'm in town I will AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I suggest you do the same. read more

My review is probably atypical, as I stopped in early afternoon on a Saturday for lunch. No karaoke happening, sigh. I do get why folks call this a dive bar, but it's a dive bar in a GOOD way. We had a blast. Had salmon, which was not distinguished, but definitely serviceable. A step above standard pub grub. Surprised the "craft beer whore" wasn't pleased to find SweetWater 420 on tap, unless that's a new addition. They had Guinness as well. Service was over-the-top friendly. We were greeted like old friends by every single employee as we walked in, even though we're from out of town. I felt like I was walking into Cheers. Indeed there were some interesting looking day-drinkers, and it did smell like an ashtray. We sat on the patio as non-smokers, but I almost wished we'd bitten the bullet to get the whole "experience", did feel a bit segregated on the patio. The Iranian-born owner came out while we were eating, though, and again treated us like old friends, even giving me a warm pat on the back. I am thinking we will probably return to Chaplin's when we are in town for the Peachtree Road Race next year, apparently many racers "bend their elbows" at Chaplin's after the race. read more

Service is terrible especially if you are not a regular that knows them. The servers and bar tenders are more concerned about their problems, themselves, and cashing out so they can sit at bar to drink than actually running the restaurant. We ordered food that never arrived. While waiting for 40 minutes for our food, we watched one bar tender take care of her self so that she could sit at bar, have a cigarette, and a beer while the other bar tender tried to take care of 7 customers in the entire place, which according to them was "slammed". The bar tender served up a warm beer by grabbing from "wrong" stock and had no idea how to respond to another customer who asked about their wines. The bar tender that was now off duty was telling the bar tender which beers are cold after the fact and telling customer interested in wine, "i think they are all ok, i dont drink wine so i can'thelp you. Wine is nasty". We kept asking where our food was and they kept saying a "few minutes." After 40 minutes, they realized that the oder was lost or misplaced after they tried to tell us they had a rush on togo orders. In 40 min there were 7 people there and no one picking up any orders. Meanwhile, we are listening to bar tender off duty at bar console 5 of the 7 people at the bar which were all good friends about some personal issues in a tapestry of profanity for all to hear. They asked us for more time to make our food at which point We told them not to bother and walked out to go find a place to eat. read more
