Parking may be a challenge depending on the time of day. And the dinning area is small. Dash In has been a downtown Fort Wayne eatery option for many years. They are located on Calhoun Street next to Pint & Slice and a couple blocks south of the court house. This restaurant has retained the vintage building feel. The interior brick and wood work are very attractive to go along with the more modern decor. The bar is very attractive. They have a very small street level outside patio if that is your preference. The shop is very small. I'm guessing the bar seats about 10 people. The main dinning area probably seats about 40. The team here is very friendly and welcoming. They hustle to serve. We went on a late Sunday afternoon and didn't not have to wait. I don't think they take reservations. There are lots of people coming and going with carry out orders. Today we had no problem finding a street parking spot. There is a parking garage nearby if no street spots are available. The menu is actually fairly broad. They have a special brunch menu along with a breakfast all day menu. There were several sandwiches and wraps available. A couple salads too. The coffee and alcoholic drink menus were very large. We didn't have either of these products this time so I can't give you any feedback on them. They have a special soup du jour and deli side selection. Today it was a mushroom arugula soup and caprese salad side. My wife loves breakfast and ordered a make-to-order omelette with a side of grilled vegetables. She really liked the light tasting eggs and fresh tasting vegetables. The tomato bisque soup is one of their staples. It is delicious and would be great with a grilled cheese sandwich from the menu. The soup was smooth and creamy. It had a gentle tomato flavor along with a more predominant milk/cream base. The soup surprisingly has a stronger spicy after taste - still outstandingly delicious! The side salad is very simple. It has a combination of fresh spring mix lettuce along with a minimal amount of onion, cheese and red pepper. The honey mustard dressing was smooth, creamy, thick and a bit spicy. It was mild on the honey/sweet taste while stronger on the mustard accent. The Italian panini sandwich was very good. The ciabatta bread was slightly grilled with a firmer exterior but not crunchy. The bread had a very freshly baked taste. The sandwich had a high quality tasting ham, pepperoni, salami and provolone cheese. The meats weren't piled high...but enough to get the flavor from each. The grilled onions and banana peppers gave the sandwich a nice zing. The pleasant aioli sauce moistened the sandwich and blended the spicy meats with the zippy onions and banana peppers. Overall the food quality was excellent yet a bit more costly than you might expect. The service was spot on and helped make it a pleasant dinning experience. The older building design, if you like that, adds to the overall experience. Give them a try!

We ordered crab cakes for an app as well as a cup of French onion soup each. We could make a meal on that alone. The crab cakes were fantastic and the French onion soup was to die for. INCREDIBLE! The pretzel bread with cinnamon butter is very tasty. The butter is so soft and filled with cinnamon. We then ordered the filet medallions with wild mushroom risotto. We love our steaks medium rare. These were cooked to perfection. Melt in your mouth goodness! The seasoning was amazing! Very delicious. The only issue was the one long strand of hair on the edge of my plate. I spoke to the server about it to make sure better care is taken in food prep in the kitchen. She said she'd talk to the manager. Husband received a free birthday dessert. The birra tacos were not included in the promotion but worth the extra dinero. Everything was packaged in sturdy plastic containers and extra red and green hot sauce were included. However, we continue along our theme of watered down textures and tastes in the next chapter. Chapter 2: Chilaquiles and Birria Ramen I hesitated to order any chilaquiles after the appetizer experience. And so I asked to try the chilaquiles salsas before committing to the dish. And can I just say, thank the heavens I did. The salsa roja tasted like tomato water, legit, unfortunately. And the salsa verde was warm pepper water. Hydrating, if anything, but lacking in flavor entirely. And so I went with the birria ramen, thinking, you know, as an Asian man who loves Mexican food, this should be perfect, right? Uhhhh, wrong. Very wrong. And I feel like at this point you could guess what I'm gonna say. The birria ramen looks beautiful, honestly. But the consommé, you guessed it, tastes like WATER. There have been some Mexican restaurants with sides of consommé that I have unabashedly slurped out of the sauce container. But for the one that's SUPPOSED to be slurped, I couldn't bring myself to do it. And you would hope the actual meat in the ramen would make up for the lack of flavor in its broth. And yes, on first bite the birria gives you an addicting burst of flavor. But the birria itself is surprisingly dry, considering it's quite literally suspended in liquid. So following that first bite is 30 seconds of chewing and grinding down this dry, tasteless chunk of birria. So by the end of the meal, you might have lost more calories chewing than you gained from eating it. The noodles were thick and had an odd starchy flavor to them - I had hoped they would have at least absorbed some notes of birria, but they instead brought a unique and undesirable taste to my mouth. And unfortunately, about 90% of this dish is these noodles, so if you're not a fan of their flavor, you're in for a long haul. With all the cilantro and onions in the bowl it honestly tasted more like a birria pho, with subtle herby notes rather than a punch of birria flavor. So if you frame it that way, it at least doesn't fall short of ALL expectations. My ex's chicken and rice was good, I think. Kinda hard to mess that up. Not like I can reach out now and ask her how it was, lol. Service was alright, drinks were.... well you could probably guess how the drinks were. Whole experience was awfully watered down, if that ain't obvious by now. Two stars.

This restaurant is set in an old building that used to house a pharmacy. It retains the character of the building via the hardwood interiors, tall ceilings, large window views of the street and concrete/industrial ceilings. The interior is nicely decorated with inviting green, brown wood and black accent colors. Table settings were very attractive as well. You can park in the small side lot or on the street. Reservations are easily made on line. The team is very friendly and welcoming. All set the stage for a fun and relaxing dinner experience. Spoke + Ivy has a very small food and specialty cocktail menu. This is the second time we have been here. Each time we found the food to be delicious and the cocktails are uniquely designed. Here is a run down on the food items we ordered: -Focaccia Bread: a mildly sweet, dense/firm bread, slightly airy with a touch of herbs to accent. It is cut into blocks so it is easier to share. The vodka sauce is thin in consistency with a smooth Italian seasoned tomato appeal. Both make for a deliciously simple starter. -Lobster Roll Rangoon: decided to give this a try. It comes out as one large Rangoon - not individual pieces. This means that you must awkwardly cut this shareable into pieces. The slightly crispy & oily wrapper is similar to most crab Rangoon pieces. It has a nice crisp. The inside has shredded pieces of lobster. It was not filled with creme cheese sauce like traditional rangoons - just plain. The green lemon parsley sauce was simply outstanding! It's very fresh, moderately thick and has a slightly tart taste. This added "the sauce" to what the inside of the Rangoon was lacking. -Milanese: nicely breaded chicken that was very moist. The breading is slightly sweet. The fresh bed of arugula salad is a nice add -Prime Rib Pho: this sounded really interesting. It's a smaller/healthier dish. The medium rare prime rib was sliced thin and tender. There wasn't many pieces of prime rib in this dish. The add-ins were fresh and much like you would expect from a Pho dish - just not as much volume. The broth has a chili oil base that gives it a spicier flavor. Overall we really enjoy this relaxed atmosphere and character of the building. The delicious food and cocktails are excellent.
