    Tea for two
    Old N.

Took my 97 year old mother here for lunch. What a wonderful experience. We shared tea for two and it was delicious. She had quiche and I had the chicken salad. Both were wonderful. We topped it off with tomato bisque soup, so good. The atmosphere and service were exactly what I'd hoped for in a tea house lunch. Bravo!

Full tea party fun. We made reservations for 5 at The Parker Grace. The atmosphere and staff were amazing. Due to a maps issues we were late for our reservation, but the staff was kind, compassionate, and attentive. We all ordered teas of different varieties. Our waitress brought all our teas and explained how to steep them as some of ours were loose leaf and others in bags. She also gave great recommendations for those who didn't like tea. The menu is good and has a variety of things. There is a kids menu upon request (PBJ, cheese pizza, Pepperoni pizza, or grilled cheese with apples and chips). Our party all agrees the chicken vegetables soup was amazing. Other entrees were the Chicken Devan (it was 'ok'), turkey club sandwich (huge portion of turkey) and the trio (Cucumber salad, was better than my grandmas, dont tell her! Chicken salad was great if you like a mayo based salad with almonds and grapes). Do not skip dessert, I repeat...do not skip dessert. They are made fresh and change often. If you pick the scones, peach cobbler, hot fudge sundae, hummingbird cake, or chocolate lava cake they are ALL good and can easily be shared with 2-3 people. Prices are fair for the experience ($20/pp aprox). This is great for a girls social, birthday party, bridal/baby shower as the rooms could accommodate small parties.

What a delightful place. We went for my birthday to have lunch and check out the shops. The classic "ladies that lunch" type foods were all tempting. The cakes looked delicious but we didn't get a piece. I might start with one next time. We each ordered the poppyseed salad with cashews, apples and Swiss cheese. It was good but I'm not sure if $14 isn't too much. I would've like to see maybe a dried cranberry or cherry included. I would like to return with others. I did order some hot tea and it was very nice. The candy store upstairs is cute. The bathroom is upstairs and nicely decorated but it could be a challenge for those who may have issues with stairs.

Service and food was wonderful today like always. Took a friend who had never been to the tea house before and he loved the quiche. Took home a piece of lemon cake with raspberry filling which was delicious. This is a great place to go for a special occasion or just an ordinary day to treat yourself. Definitely on of the great places to eat at in Roanoke.

    Desserts!

Each table is set with delicate place settings. A tea party for my sister's birthday. Adult women feeling like little girls from our childhood. Thank you!

The bar area is old school cozy, and darker hued. Both areas are beautiful! The kitchen is open (always a plus) and filled with a very talented culinary team. Hosts are warm and welcoming. Service is impeccable with great attention to details, yet somehow, not stuffy. We've dined at Joseph Decuis many times over the years. There was a very brief period when the menu was a bit less than expected, mind you BRIEF, but we were happy to experience an evening dinner this past weekend that was once again par excellence! Exactly why we choose Joseph Decuis for special evenings out! As others have mentioned, it is pricey. However, if you appreciate exquisite freshness, innovation, and preparation (truly an art), and are looking for something out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to make a reservation! Photos of tonight's menu and some of our choices (a table of four) with explanations, below.

We ordered tartar as a starter, and tomahawk Waygu steaks and while they were prepared properly, they were both just so bland. Both my business partner and I left the evening saying, "meh. That was underwhelming." I've had better steaks from my own cast iron pan at home with a sprinkle of sea salt. Another point of contention was that I specifically asked for a green vegetable and I was given carrots and peppers. Nothing green. For a meal that cost an arm and a leg, it was disappointing. Stars are for the great servers and the atmosphere.

Spoke + Ivy (west Main Street, FW) - another locally unique dinning experience that deserves a try…read more Spoke + Ivy is located on west Main Street - across the parking lot from Redwood Inn restaurant, if that helps. This restaurant is set in an old building that used to house a pharmacy. It retains the character of the building via the hardwood interiors, tall ceilings, large window views of the street and concrete/industrial ceilings. The interior is nicely decorated with inviting green, brown wood and black accent colors. Table settings were very attractive as well. You can park in the small side lot or on the street. Reservations are easily made on line. The team is very friendly and welcoming. All set the stage for a fun and relaxing dinner experience. Spoke + Ivy has a very small food and specialty cocktail menu. This is the second time we have been here. Each time we found the food to be delicious and the cocktails are uniquely designed. Here is a run down on the food items we ordered: -Focaccia Bread: a mildly sweet, dense/firm bread, slightly airy with a touch of herbs to accent. It is cut into blocks so it is easier to share. The vodka sauce is thin in consistency with a smooth Italian seasoned tomato appeal. Both make for a deliciously simple starter. -Lobster Roll Rangoon: decided to give this a try. It comes out as one large Rangoon - not individual pieces. This means that you must awkwardly cut this shareable into pieces. The slightly crispy & oily wrapper is similar to most crab Rangoon pieces. It has a nice crisp. The inside has shredded pieces of lobster. It was not filled with creme cheese sauce like traditional rangoons - just plain. The green lemon parsley sauce was simply outstanding! It's very fresh, moderately thick and has a slightly tart taste. This added "the sauce" to what the inside of the Rangoon was lacking. -Milanese: nicely breaded chicken that was very moist. The breading is slightly sweet. The fresh bed of arugula salad is a nice add -Prime Rib Pho: this sounded really interesting. It's a smaller/healthier dish. The medium rare prime rib was sliced thin and tender. There wasn't many pieces of prime rib in this dish. The add-ins were fresh and much like you would expect from a Pho dish - just not as much volume. The broth has a chili oil base that gives it a spicier flavor. Overall we really enjoy this relaxed atmosphere and character of the building. The delicious food and cocktails are excellent.

We were seated in a very awkward corner table for two where the tables were really close together. Since it was our Valentine's celebration, I would have been uncomfortable with the tables next to us having people at them because it didn't give you any privacy or space for private conversation. We did not get drinks or appetizers. Our meals were very good (salmon and chicken). The server was good but didn't refill my water and that' a big deal to me. Also, it's supposed to be an upscale place and they were out of paper towels in the bathroom. I feel like that is just basic service they should check on regularly.

One who travels frequently for business and the other who is in town frequently with their family. Both recommended Tolon as a wonderful place to sit down and have an excellent meal. I'm happy they did. I walked in the door and was warmly greeted by the hostess and asked to sit at the bar. The bartender greeted me immediately when I sat down and grabbed a bottle of water and the stainless steel cup for the water and poured me a drink. She provided me with the menu and the cocktail menu and gave me space in time to make my decisions. I went with a glass of Malbec, and the deviled eggs as a starter. My main course was another small plate: the beef short rib with polenta cake. The deviled eggs were phenomenal and had a unique flavor and we're just right sized for one. The beef short rib dish was excellent and maybe a little more than I could handle it once after the deviled eggs. Every person that brought food to me or that chatted with me while I sat at the bar was kind and welcoming.
