I have two catagories for restaurant eating: (1) "The skies the limit" and (2) "No fretting." The first is when I am going out for a good time with friends and family. The second is when I am alone, have just done grocery shopping or chores and am hungry but don't want to spend lots of money. Chapps Cafe is perfect for the second category. It is near grocery stores and nothing is expensive. You don't even have to fret about what you want to eat because they only have a limited menu: mostly hamburgers and hot dogs. You put in your order and they bring it to you. Not being a big eater, the baby Chapps burger is what I usually order. It's the one with 1/4 pound of meat. The hamburger tastes like your mom used to make at home (unless I am your mom and have burned it black ;-). It has all the good stuff on it. They understand us folks who want plenty of pickles.The fries are good. This place is great for a quick bite, or a relaxing break. Nobody can complain about Chapps unless they are certified grouches to begin with. read more

This place is sadly the best restaurant in Keller. The burgers are a little too greasy for my tastes and they don't have a large variety of meat like some burger places do, but the prices are decent and the food is satisfying. They also offer Blue Bell ice cream that you can get from the Tom Thumb in the parking lot at a much lower price. The service is fast and it's located in a shopping center with plenty of practical but not very interesting shops, so it's a great place to go if you get hungry in the middle of running errands. read more

Chapps be some good eats. Yesterday I had a big ole fat cheeseburger loaded with all the garden stuff... yum. As this place is 5 minutes away from my parents' house, I have probably eaten here a hundred times and never been not impressed. Try the hot dog and throw on tons of grilled onions and all the fixins. The fries are the hand cut variety with the skin still on. The buns for the burgers are soft and buttery. My only complaint is that they have a sign that says all burgers are cooked medium well unless otherwise stated....and my burger seemed well done. Expensive, but good. This is the second "Chapps Cafe" I've been to since moving here. Sort of an un-assuming front to the place - their signage isn't as showy as the other fast-food places around, so it's almost like you don't think to go here unless you know what Chapps Cafe is all about. I had their hickory burger (just a cheeseburger with BBQ sauce), cheese fries (because I can't resist them) and a diet Dr Pepper (the diet part counteracts that burger, surely!!!). You know, the burgers are good, but they're bland. This hickory version had more going for it because of the BBQ sauce, which is excellent. But I've had that burger on it's own before and it's just not worth eating. It needs salt or sauce or something. The cheese fries are amazing and I love that they give you ranch dressing to dip them in. I do love ranch dressing and I see it's more popular here than back home in Boston. Lunch was expensive. Like nearly $13 for all that. And, yah maybe once in awhile when I want that big need-a-nap burger, I'll go here, but I like to pay close to half that for lunch each day, so I probably won't be back for a while. There are a handful of burger joints in Keller and I would not say this is one of the better options. I'm not a fan. The burgers are too greasy in my opinion.. My husband loves them.. I do like the fries.. I have tried the salads which are pretty fresh but the dressing options are not that great. The shop is pretty clean and the customer service is good but I'm not going back here on a regular basis but my husband def is!! So I may not be a fair critic here because I'm not much of a burger fan unless it's In and Out. With that said my husband however is a foodie and loves Chapps.. It's a toss up but hey go try it.. This is our favorite burger place. Some people like burgers with thin patties and this wouldn't be the place them. Chapps has beefy burgers. I'm pretty sure the baby Chapps is a quarter pound. They are cooked to order and they have a wide variety of toppings available. They also have good chicken sandwiches. And I really like their BBQ sauce on the chicken or the burgers. The French fries and sweet potato fries are both very good too. After a burger and fries, I don't have room for one of their shakes but my kids tell me they are delicious. read more

I used to LOVE chapps but the staff is lackadaisical and aloof. Just don't feel welcomed. Many times in the last 6 months foods not as ordered. I like mushrooms and Swiss and specifically say no lettuce or tomato. Can't get that right. The saddest thing is they got rid of the sides that made me WANT to come there. Fried mushrooms being number one. Why would y'all do that. We go to kpops lately but if you'd bring back the mushrooms we'd be way more likely to come back more often. Just advise cooks to pay attention to detail. If mushrooms were still on side menu (fried) I'd give it a 4 because we do like burgers here. Oh my goodness! I ordered the 1984 Burger and it was huge and as delicious as it was big! I couldn't eat it all so I took it home, put it in the refrigerator and didn't get around to eating it for three whole days. When I remembered it I thought it was not going to be that good reheated, boy was I wrong! It was just as delicious as it was the day I bought it! This was probably the best burger I've ever eaten. Went to try this place out tonight. One of their specialty burgers sounded great except i asked for plain mayo instead of basil mayo. The girl said it was their signature sauce and didnt think they would substitute it. I didn't mind asking them to just make it dry (no sauce) and asked for plain mayo on the side. She said again it was the signature sauce they couldn't do that either. At this point I was getting frustrated and said can i have that burger just dry no sauce at all. The girl said she didn't think that was an option. At this point we just left. I understand not wanting to substitute but to flat out refuse to even ask if they would put no sauce was a lot ridiculous. Needless to say we will not be going back. You have got to try this place! I'm always looking for a fantastic burger. I believe I have found just the spot! The burgers are huge1/2 pounders and come in about 8-10 different combinations. What impressed me was that their burger buns appear to be custom made, similar to Fuddruckers. Veggie toppings for the burgers were fresh. Their fries are natural cut, skin-on and crispy. Panko breaded onion rings were also excellent. Their sweet potato fries were good however, were warm when they arrived at our table. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger. Mushrooms were freshly sauteed, not from a can and real swiss cheese. Their prices are so cheap! I paid $5.29 for my burger! All their burgers are priced from $5 to $6! I don't know if something has changed since I was last here (Feb 2012), but I had a really good burger just a couple weeks ago. It was so good, I went back last week and had another (bad, bad, bad). The meat was perfectly cooked and was juicy, but not overly greasy and it was served on a nicely toasted bun. I'm a traditionalist as far as burgers go - lettuce, tomato, raw onion, pickles, and mustard. Sometimes cheddar. And the Chapps version was quite yummy. When I pick a burger up, I want it to stay together. If the bun starts falling apart, it's a deal breaker. The Chapps bun holds together. Their fries aren't bad and I order them without salt (the time I had them a couple years ago, they were way oversalted). I pepper them when they come out instead. I can't eat burgers as often as I might like to, but this will be my go-to place from now on. read more

Very good burgers! Me and my sis came here yesterday craving a burger and it was pretty packed and there was a line but it moved quickly. I ordered a baby chapp bacon cheeseburger with everything on it including grilled onions and grilled jalepenos with a side of cajun fries. Our food didn't take to long to come so I was very happy about that. My burger was hot and tasted delicious, although they forgot to add my jalepenos but I just took a few from my sister's burger. The cheese was melted, fresh veggies and the bacon was crisp. The cajun fries which is also what my sister ordered were not fresh at all and we could tell we got the bottom of the barrel fries because they were mostly short and hard pieces, but the taste was still there. Had the fries been fresh they would have gotten a 5 for sure. I used to come here often and they haven't lost that great burger taste so I'll definitely continue to come back. read more

3.5 Stars. We like this place. It reminds me of a small hometown burger joint that I grew up with. Some people might disagree with me, but the burgers are just Ok. I just had my first experience at this Chapps location. I got the half-pound bacon burger with jack cheese and BBQ sauce and the sweet potato French fries, all made to order. The burgers are made with Nolan Ryan beef. The meal was outstanding. Friendly staff - the custom burger was recommended by the order taker and it was just what the doctor ordered. It appears to be a popular family location - most of the customers were there with kids after Tae Kwon Do, etc. on this early Saturday afternoon. Plenty of high chairs.
