A local gem! I had been driving to Canton's TSC and little did I know, Chap's was right down the street on 5 mile in Livonia. They have everything you could need when it comes to pets/feed. I have backyard chickens, so I was there for chicken feed & straw. I walked in and was immediately helped by one of the friendly staff members, who pointed me in the right direction & then helped me load my car. Amazing small, local business with service you don't find very often! Five very well earned stars!

Part of interior - lots of products!

They refused to take her because she doesn't know how to walk on a leash yet! I offered to carry her, 25 pound mini poodle and again they said no. I explained one more time to the rude and ignorant groomer that she was just found/rescued and needed a proper grooming. SERIOUSLY PET SMART YOU GOTTA DO BETTER! Because she was a stray and not trained you can't groom her? What about puppies, they are leash trained. Older dogs with arthritis that can barely stand, handicapped dogs with special needs in a wheelchair, they can't be groomed either? I work with shelters all over metro Detroit and I am just disappointed and disgusted that you turned away a neglected dog that was adopted and just wanted her freshly groomed for the holidays! I'll be letting everyone know not to depend on pet smart for grooming needs if your rescue dog hasn't been leashed trained. Which 99 % percent haven't BEEN BECAUSE THEY WERE FOUND ROAMING THE STREETS EMANCIATED, TIED UP TO TREES, LEFT AND ABANDONED AFTER OWNERS MOVED, THROWN OUT OF CARS, LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO DIE. YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO TURN AWAY A PERSON THAT HAS STEPPED UP TO FOSTER OR RESCUE A DOG IN NEED JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID OR DON'T KNOW LEASH TRAINING YET!!

I had a very positive first visit to this shop recently. The shop is set up more as a supply store…read moreand we were told that there aren't many animals kept on site. I went in to see what kind of tarantulas they had available. I was told that all the animals they have are listed on the website as most of them are not on site. The owner was very kind to us, helping us to look at the options online. She also brought out a few of the juvenile tarantulas she had in store for us to look at. She also showed us some death beetles and Cuban fake chameleons. There were some bearded dragons on display as well. You can tell that the owner cares very deeply for the animals that she plays guardian to. I ended up coming back later that same day to get the Grammostola Rosea tarantula because I could not stop thinking about her :) I'm already in love with this little one! This is a great shop for serious reptile & arachnid keepers. it is small but well stocked with feeders & husbandry supplies. If you are looking to browse for entertainment it's not set up for this. I would recommend looking at the website and calling ahead to request to see any animals you are interested in buying. The way they are kept is for the benefit of the animals care and to reduce stress. It may seem unconventional to some but I appreciate the way this place is set up with the best of intentions. Highly recommended!
